Certain events in history change the story of a generation. Wars, terrorist attacks, and COVID-19 are examples of such events. For this generation of young people, already suffering from the highest levels of depression and anxiety in history, the pandemic carved on their minds a narrative of despair and a dim future. Members of Generation Z, especially those in high school during the pandemic and younger members of the generation, had been affected the most. T he Carmichael SDA Church, located in the suburbs of Sacramento, California, seemed to be a gem in the Northern California Conference, with the largest membership, highest tithe, and largest pastoral staff. The pandemic put a halt to most of this church’s ministry, exposing some weaknesses and preventing the ministry it had developed over the years. Simultaneously, new forms of ministry sprung forth because of the sudden changes. Many mission trips conducted by health workers and evangelists in developing countries have benefitted the communities in Africa. However, some of these benefits have been very short-lived and need to be more sustainable. Once the mission team leaves, the communities are left unattended, with little or no support. This project employs a mission research grassroots approach. The aim is to evaluate the efficacy of the research-mission approach in terms of acceptability and sustainability by using the PRECED/PROCEED, model.

Adolescent girls worldwide are subject to various forms of violence, such as corporal punishment and sexual abuse inflicted by family members, caregivers, and school violence. Girls are particularly vulnerable to gender-based violence, including sexual violence, exploitation, abuse, forced marriage, and human trafficking. While there is evidence that violence can be prevented, high rates of violence persist, and girls require empowerment and honor-based strategies to reclaim their power. This presentation examines how Adventists from four world divisions view the issue of salvation. Using data from the 2018 and 2023 Global Church Member’s Surveys, we compare and contrast members’ stated beliefs over time about how one receives salvation. The analysis includes cultural factors that may be influencing these outcomes.

This presentation highlights Findings from a qualitative, study of former Adventist pastors. The analysis reveals a number of conditions that lead clergy to leave pastoral ministry for other endeavors. These findings are important in stabilizing the pastorate in North America. We conclude with recommendations to Church administrators and educational institutions.
