Harrisburg University Other Works
"Entwined Derelict" was my first delve into the Twine interactive fiction engine, and the second game that I consider "feature complete". While a significant focus was put on learning the engine as a whole, particular effort for me was put into a sidebar "journal" of sorts, that took narrative flags from the game and recorded the events in a way that allows players to read back what they have experienced in-game at their leisure. While I greatly enjoyed making the game, and I do consider it a complete experience with some unique pieces within, it is a short adventure without …

Australian/Japanese Electropunk S.F.D.U. 11 Singles & Album, Guy A. Cooper, Jake A. Morton
Staff Scholarship - Australia & Dubai
This creative work is a self-produced Electropunk album by Guy Cooper and bandmate Jake Morton, created for the band Super Fun Down Under (S.F.D.U.). Written, performed (vocals, guitar, drums, bass, synth), produced, mixed, and mastered independently, the 11-track release is an exploration of genre fusion—melding the raw, political aggression of punk with the synthetic textures and structures of electronic music. The project examines how these two sonic worlds can be merged to create a high-energy, confrontational, and culturally resonant sound that retains the DIY ethos of punk while embracing modern production tools.
A core focus of the album is the …

Sentimental Empiricism: Politics, Philosophy, And Criticism In Postwar France, Davide Panagia
Sentimental Empiricism: Politics, Philosophy, And Criticism In Postwar France, Davide Panagia
Politics
Sentimental Empiricism reconsiders the legacy of eighteenth and nineteenth century empiricism and moral sentimentalism for the intellectual formation of the generation of postwar French thinkers whose work came to dominate Anglophone conversations across the humanities under the guise of “French theory.” Panagia’s book first shows what was missed in the reception of this literature in the Anglophone academy by attending to how France’s pedagogical milieu plays out church and state relations in the form of educational debates around reading practices, the aesthetics of mimesis, French imperialism, and republican universalism. Panagia then shows how such thinkers as Jean Wahl, Simone de …

Flower Study, Haven Hinds
Flower Study, Haven Hinds
Undergraduate Theses, Capstones, and Recitals
This project is a study into extinct flowers, their histories, environments, biology, colors, and assigned personalities then manifested in 3D models and a digital book. The goal was to select six flowers with interesting histories and or cultural connections. Since the flowers can, for the most part, not be seen or kept they were created in Blender as accurately as possible. To give people a means of connection with the flowers, each was assigned a personality based on different factors. These factors could be the colors they possess, where geographically they thrived, parts of their history, and biological factors. To …

Accessible & Inclusive Music-Making, Lincoln Byass
Postgraduate
This research project aimed to assist musicians with intellectual disabilities in the collaborative music-making process. By designing and implementing accessible techniques, the study addressed the question: "What songwriting and music production techniques can support musicians with intellectual disabilities to create original music?" The outcome was a framework of techniques and three original compositions created in collaboration with these musicians.
Using qualitative methods such as autoethnography, action research, observations, and music-specific practices, the project involved multiple collaborative sessions where participants actively engaged in music composition and recording. Techniques included pre-production interviews, influence analysis, instrument experimentation, and lyrical exploration. The findings highlight …

Embracing hospitality and inclusion in Abrahamic traditions
One of the signal moments in the narrative of the biblical Abraham is his insistent and enthusiastic reception of three strangers, a starting point of inspiration for all three Abrahamic traditions as they evolve and develop the details of their respective teachings. On the one hand, welcoming the stranger by remembering “that you were strangers in the land of Egypt” is enjoined upon the ancient Israelites, and on the other, oppressing the stranger is condemned by their prophets throughout the Hebrew Bible.
These sentiments are repeated in the New Testament and the Qur’an …

Study the South
"It is difficult to measure the direct impact—and sometimes even the existence—of daily personal interactions on individuals’ thoughts about race and desegregation. Rather than attempting to parse between change stemming from interpersonal relationships versus change as a result of federal intervention, I examine interracial and intraracial interactions across the town/gown divide in Oxford as spheres of influence. Black challenges to White supremacy at UM brought systemic racism into question even though those systems of oppression remained in place."

Through exposure to a variety of communication forms, including narrative, informational, and opinion writing in addition to oral history, poetry, song, and podcasting, students gain confidence in evaluating the context and audience of …

Designing Ourselves And Our World: A Designer-Weaver's Perspective On Services, Marcelo Ramirez
Designing Ourselves And Our World: A Designer-Weaver's Perspective On Services, Marcelo Ramirez
ServDes Conference Series
This paper argues that design, particularly service design, plays a significant role in shaping our world by constructing and reconstructing our understanding of it. Rather than a mere means to an end, design is a tool for controlling and producing meaning. Service design plays a crucial role in this process, as it mediates interactions between people and their everyday contexts through services. Design can be seen then as a way of generating culture. By exploring a more systemic approach, service designers can better understand how services shape people's lives and address underlying narratives and discourses that frame relationships between people …

A Study Of Product Service System For Product Family Based On Extension Design, Tao Chen, Ding-Bang Luh, Xing-Sen Li
ServDes Conference Series
This paper, from the perspective of extension design, investigates the product family architecture composed of demand domain, functional domain, technology domain, and physical domain and establishes a product service system, which is centered on the product family development platform, based on the extension innovation method. The basic-element logic language and method of extension design is employed to analyze the characteristics of product family design including generalization, parameterization, modularization, and intelligence. In this paper, the product family design platform, including four models and three resource libraries, is developed through the formalized and modeled basic-element representation, configuration of modular elements, and intelligent …
