The journal of Harmony A. Smith contains both lecture notes from Jefferson Medical College, bound together with journal entries from his trip along the Oregon Trail from May 20th to July 6th, 1850. Pages are missing from the notebook – lecture notes begin on p. 22 and end on p. 80, with blank leaves between pp. 69-70, and evidence of paste-ins removed. The Oregon Trail journal begins on p. 29, and ends on p. 80 before the conclusion of the journey to California.
