World-Renowned Pianist Andrew Cooperstock To Perform Feb. 1 At Ouachita, Rachel Gaddis, Ouachita News Bureau

Ouachita Baptist University will host guest musician Dr. Andrew Cooperstock for a piano recital Monday, Feb. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in McBeth Recital Hall. Cooperstock will also offer a master class prior to the recital at 3 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.
A solo pianist and chamber musician, Cooperstock has appeared on six continents and in most of the 50 states. He has performed at the United Nations, New York’s Alice Tully, Merkin and Carnegie halls, Broadway’s 54 Below, Greenwich Village’s Le Poisson Rouge and Brooklyn’s BargeMusic.

Ouachita Baptist University’s Art Club will host its annual Juried Student Art Exhibit Feb. 1-29 in Ouachita’s Hammons Art Gallery, located in Mabee Fine Arts Center. This year’s juror was John Deering, award-winning cartoonist and illustrator for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Winners will be announced at a reception Feb. 12, 6-7 p.m., in Hammons Gallery. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

The purpose of this paper is to highlight the need for an empirical examination of the interaction between Crisis Intervention strategies and religions. While there seem to be obvious obstacles to crisis intervention within the major tenets of most of the world's religions, there has been little to no accessible research on the subject. This paper will focus only on Buddhism, a religion that gets much attention in regard to mental health. In the practice of crisis and trauma intervention, a person who holds to traditional Buddhist views should theoretically suffer more severely with PTSD symptoms because of Buddhism's emphasis …
