The Mccarthy Campaign In Indianapolis (1968), Carlotta B. Anderson
The Mccarthy Campaign In Indianapolis (1968), Carlotta B. Anderson
Graduate Thesis Collection
This paper is about the primary campaign of Senator Eugene McCarthy in the State of Indiana in 1968. It will focus its attention on Indianapolis, the largest city and the capital of the state, and an area where the Senator did quite poorly. (1) Though some magazine articles, newspaper stories and books have been useful, this paper is basically the campaign as viewed by 20 participants. Without their cooperation, it could not have been written.

The Midwest Quarterly: A Journal of Contemporary Thought
in this issue. . .
DURING the past ten years we have had several opportunities to welcome a new member to our editorial board but always under the regretful necessity of bidding goodby to a valued old friend who was moving away or had taken on a heavy load of work or for some other reason felt he could no longer serve the journal as faithfully as he would like. With this April 1970 issue we have the pleasure of welcoming a new associate editor who is an addition and not a replacement and is therefore pure gain. Our new …

in this issue. . .
THIS JANUARY 1970 we begin not simply a new year but a new decade--one that we are bound to hope will grow less violent and more certain of purpose as it moves along. Perhaps the editor has seen too many decades, or perhaps it is the world that has seen too many, but we cannot remember a sense of exacerbation or self-distrust or sheer frustration more intense and bitter than the one now prevailing. A History Of The League Of Women Voters Of Indianapolis, Barbara E. Zimmer
A History Of The League Of Women Voters Of Indianapolis, Barbara E. Zimmer
Graduate Thesis Collection
On April 16, 1920, the Woman's Franchise League of Indiana, Indianapolis Branch, voted to disband and to establish a League of Women Voters in its place, carrying the members of the Franchise League on its roster for the first six months. Votes for women, the single purpose for which they, and others like them across the continent, had worked, was certain of accomplishment. The Federal Amendment, granting suffrage to women, had passed the Congress in the previous year and ratification by a sufficient number of states seemed certain.

Fabianism Versus Welfareism : The Movement Towards The Welfare State In The United States, Susan Lee St. Clair
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

The group called itself the Fabian Society and in the beginning it seemed to be not unlike other protest or reformist groups which were springing up all over England at the time. The difference was that this group, though always small in numbers, was to have a tremendous impact throughout England and the rest of the democratic world. To be specific, the ideas of the Fabian Socialists can clearly be seen as influencing the …
