This is the program for the Instrumental Repertoire Class recital, held on December 15, 1978, in the Mabee Fine Arts Center Recital Hall. The following students performed: pianist Kirk Bullington, pianist Terri Pierce, pianist Vickie Funderburk, and pianist Rita Hodges. The purpose of this paper is to devise a codification of twentieth-century cadential techniques used by some of the major representative composers. It is because Debussy had such a profound impact upon twentieth-century music -·because of his innovations and influences upon this century's composition - that he is included in this paper. His music will serve as the beginning step away from traditional cadence procedures. Twentieth century compositions which are non-tonal and basically tonal will be studied for their non-traditional cadential procedures. Traditional procedures refer to those classical clichés which one expects to hear at cadence points, such as: IV-V-I; …

Thursday, November 30th, 1978 at NYU Loeb Student Center in association with NYU program board, Jack Kleinsinger presents Highlights in Jazz featured a collection titled “Jazz Legends on Film Part II” from film historian David Chertok. The film utilized film shorts, clips from longer films and excerpts from early television to make a presentation of rare jazz performances. Artists include Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Thelonius Monk, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Lionel Hampton, Ella Fitzgerald and more.

The Holy Family Parish Choir, directed by Roland M. Roy, performed at the 100th anniversary of the Sisters of Charity held at SS. Peter and Paul Church. Diane J. Biron was the organist.
Roland M. Roy was director of the Holy Family Parish Choir for 15 years until 1989. He organized workshops for Maine parish choir directors and recorded an album. With accompanist Diane J. Biron, he produced cantatas and concerts composed Masses and psalms performed by the choir.

A Study Of A. E. Blackmar And Brother, Music Publishers, Of New Orleans, Louisiana, And Augusta, Georgia: With A Check List Of Imprints In Louisiana Collections, Paul Richard Powell
LSU Historical Dissertations and Theses
For three decades, 1858-1888, A. E. Blackmar of New Orleans, Louisiana, was one of the leading music publishers in the South. During the Civil War he published more titles than any other Confederate music publisher, operating both from New Orleans and also from Augusta, Georgia. After the war, Blackmar engaged in a number of unsuccessful partnerships but continued to publish music until his death in 1888. He also established business in New York and San Francisco for brief periods. It was primarily as a Confederate music publisher that A. E. Blackmar made his greatest contribution to American sheet music publishing. …
