The Personal Religion Of Five Representative Eighteenth-Century Poets, Florence G. Marsh
The Personal Religion Of Five Representative Eighteenth-Century Poets, Florence G. Marsh
Masters Theses
Preface: This thesis had its inception in a study of the personal religion of Samuel Johnson, done in the fall quarter of 1942 for Dr. Emperor's seminar. That study, which forms the second chapter here, was extended to include the personal religion of Thomas Gray, James Thomson, Edward Young, and William Shenstone because of my interest in the subject. The selection of the men to be studied was largely arbitrary; five seemed to be all that the scope of a thesis would permit me to treat adequately.

Physical And Chemical Properties Of Utah And Idaho Honeys, Raymond C. Rhees
Physical And Chemical Properties Of Utah And Idaho Honeys, Raymond C. Rhees
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
Even though honey is one of the oldest known sweets, there is a general lack of knowledge concerning its chemical and physical properties. This is particularly true of those honeys produced in the intermountain region. Beekeepers of this region have long felt that their product was sweeter than those honeys produced in other sections of the country. This, of course, implies that honey produced in the intermountain area is higher in sugar concentration and lower in percent moisture. The present study was made in order to supply some data concerning honeys of this area.

Best Sellers In American Fiction During The First Decade Of The Twentieth Century, Sister Marie Joan Sullivan
English Language and Literature ETDs
It is the purpose of this study to throw some light upon the characters and habits of thought of the American reader at the beginning of the twentieth century.
This thesis will be confined to those novels classified as best sellers by The Bookman in the years 1900-1910.
To classify a novel as a best seller does not mean that it is a great or even a mediocre work judged from an artistic standpoint.

Attitudes Toward The Indian As Found In American Literature 1700-1800, Margaret Lindsay Hopcraft
Attitudes Toward The Indian As Found In American Literature 1700-1800, Margaret Lindsay Hopcraft
English Language and Literature ETDs
This thesis is a study of the attitude towards the Indian as shown in American literature of the eighteenth century, a period which, to the writer's knowledge, has not been reviewed. Albert Keiser's book, The Indian in American Literature, covers the entire field but considers only the major writers and their treatment of the Indian, thus excluding all but a small group of writers from 1700 to 1800.

A Critical Analysis Of Negro Character In The American Novel Of The South 1935-1940, Alice Veronica Johnson
A Critical Analysis Of Negro Character In The American Novel Of The South 1935-1940, Alice Veronica Johnson
Electronic Thesis and Dissertation
I have observed in reading novels by both white and Negro authors that only certain types of Negroes have been portrayed. The question kept rising in my mind, Why? Usually it is the highly colorful, sensational, immoral type that is shown to the exclusion of the self-respecting, decent living, ordinary, everyday Negro.
Theology In Milton's "Paradise Lost", Ernest Joseph Wilderson
Theology In Milton's "Paradise Lost", Ernest Joseph Wilderson
Electronic Thesis and Dissertation
A number of attempts have been made to fit the Miltonic ideals into the patter of a particular religious or philosophical group. He has been called Calvinist, Arminian, Unitarian, and Spiritualist. The treatment of vital religious beliefs in "Paradise Lose" however leaves little doubt as to Milton's contempt for any and all orthodox theology.
The Concept Of God In The Poetry Of The American Negro, Mary H. Jones Sr.
The Concept Of God In The Poetry Of The American Negro, Mary H. Jones Sr.
Electronic Thesis and Dissertation
Many authors have written much about the Negro and religion. Those who know the black man in American readily concede that he is by nature a lover of God, and that this great innate belief manifests itself in his daily life. Books of deep and light reading- some written in prose, others in verse- have been produced by American Negro men and women. Many of their works have mirrored forth the concept of God in the mind of the Afro-American; but this concept has not remained the same- this great faith is at present suffering decay.
