Prediction Of Things To Come For Exceptional Children And Adults As Seen Through The Eyes Of Science Fiction Writers, Claud Barrett
All Graduate Projects
The problem is that education has not, to any degree, looked at science fiction as a source of information related to future problems in the lives of exceptional children and adults.
By looking at science fiction that has won the Hugo and Nebula awards, it will be the purpose of this paper to examine a number of problems.
1, It will be the task of the author to show that science fiction has both in intent and by accident been a reliable predictor of future events.
2. The author will look at science fiction and identify the ways science fiction …

THOMAS L. HARTSHORNE reveals the traditionalist lurking behind the with-it façade constructed by Tom Wolfe in his writings on the 1960's. Hartshorne' s interest in recent cultural history has found expression in articles and in the book, The Distorted Image: Changing Interpretations of the American Character since Turner. Hartshorne teaches history at Cleveland State University.

Masters Theses
In his article "Wrong Turning in American Poetry," Robert Bly believes that American poetry has been lead astray by the likes of Eliot, Pound, Moore, and Williams. He feels that the main failing of American poetry is its lack of inward, spiritual life. It is the Spanish speaking poets that Bly looks to as the true path-finders of spiritual poetry. If Bly believes that poets like Eliot and Williams were responsible for steering American poetry down the wrong path, it is a foreigner, Charles Simic, who will give American poetry the right turn it needs.
What Simic has been able …

A Little More Than Kin, Ernest Hebert
A Little More Than Kin, Ernest Hebert
Dartmouth Scholarship
Initially appearing in Hebert's first Darby Chronicles novel, The Dogs of March, Ollie Jordan and his clan live in shacks behind a huge billboard advertising a Vermont business. Although he's a brooding character with an inquiring, philosophical turn of mind, Ollie has grown up with no education, no mentors, and a serious Freudian hang-up. A family history of poverty, stubborn pride, and a culture that runs contrary to mainstream society have robbed Ollie and his people of opportunity, even hope. They live by a culture of "succor and ascendancy."
When Ollie is evicted from his shacks, he breaks his drinking …
