Contextualized Songwriting In The Japanese Church, Katie Ann Mcwilliams May 2020

Contextualized Songwriting In The Japanese Church, Katie Ann Mcwilliams

Masters Theses

The Christian Church of Japan has very few songs written in their own language and style. Most songs are translated from English or another language. While Japan is a very westernized country, this is a problem because things can get lost in translation and these songs are not always representative of their musical style. Furthermore, they have a unique voice of worship that is currently missing from the global Church. My research project was intended to identify songwriters and encourage songwriting for the local church with the intention of expanding the Japanese voice in the global context and raising awareness …

Women In Ministerial Leadership Roles, Sherith Carline Gutzmer May 2020

Women In Ministerial Leadership Roles, Sherith Carline Gutzmer

Masters Theses

The literature shows that women in positions of leadership are more accepted in the realms of business and politics than in the church. There is an increase of women entering seminary programs and theological training centers in the pursuit of ministerial leadership roles yet, upon completion, job placement is challenging. There is still a polarized view of women in ministerial leadership that has led to inconsistencies, confusion, and the need for clarity. The purpose of this study is to identify the views of graduate students in Liberty University Rawlings School of Divinity on women in ministerial leadership roles. The most …

Race, Ethnicity & Culture With Purpose: The Growth Of A Multicultural Church Ministry, Jamar R. Mabry May 2020

Race, Ethnicity & Culture With Purpose: The Growth Of A Multicultural Church Ministry, Jamar R. Mabry

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

Christianity is a major galvanizing factor. However, it is prudent to pay attention to the real and latent divisions in society that hinder social harmony: even without the calming effect of the Christian faith. Attempting to form a multicultural church must therefore involve an understanding of the races and ethnicities that comprise the target population. That process is as academic as it is pragmatic. The academic aspect of conceiving race involves a historically literate understanding of the heritage and factors that created the present race and ethnic power relations not only in the locale: but across the entire country as …

The purpose of this DMIN thesis is to address the problem of the leadership development deficit by implementing a process that will engage more than 30 percent of the average attendance. For this research, the main focus is primarily engaging people who are already Christians and are on board with the vision and mission of the church to assume a leadership role and responsibility. The focus of the project is to …

Mentoring Worship Leaders To Become Mentoring Worship Leaders, Robert Todd Craig May 2020

Mentoring Worship Leaders To Become Mentoring Worship Leaders, Robert Todd Craig

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

Although Jesus provides the biblical example for the process and significance of mentoring others, today’s ministry leaders often fail to take up this mantle. Much research exists on the value of mentoring, especially in the corporate world where those at the highest levels intentionally mentor those who display significant potential. Recent literature addresses the importance of ministry leaders mentoring others, such as veteran pastors showing those expressing a call to ministry how to be a minster. However, a gap exists in the body of literature regarding the importance of the mentoring relationship between veteran and novice worship leaders. Due to …

The Use Of Apologetics In The Book Of Isaiah, Daniel Robert Sloan May 2020

The Use Of Apologetics In The Book Of Isaiah, Daniel Robert Sloan

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

Isaiah used apologetics in three distinct areas: Yahweh’s creation and sovereign control (Past), Yahweh’s divine intervention in delivering Judah (present) and Yahweh as the controller of the future (Immediate, Exilic, Messianic and eschatological) to argue that Yahweh was the one true God, unique and superior to all pagan deities, to both his contemporary audience and to future generations. In chapter one, the research questions are addressed, a literary review is presented, and the methodology of the dissertation is given. In chapter two, the dissertation addresses how the book of Isaiah argues apologetically that Yahweh is the Creator and therefore is …

A Study On The Process Of Establishing Church Vision Through The Vision Room: The Case Of Incheon Shinkwang Church In Korea, Sungho Park May 2020

A Study On The Process Of Establishing Church Vision Through The Vision Room: The Case Of Incheon Shinkwang Church In Korea, Sungho Park

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

The purpose of this study is to suggest a systematic process in establishing church’s vision by emphasizing the importance of having a clear vision in church growth and by communicating with the church members in the midst of a situation where stable ministry transition is required due to the replacement of the senior pastor now that 50 years has passed since the church was planted. For many years, the Korean church has experienced steady growth and revival. However, from the 21st century, the growth is slowing down and is stagnant. One of the reasons is the conflict between the former …

A Study On The Conflict Resolution In Church: Focus On Sekwang Church, Byeong Joo Im May 2020

A Study On The Conflict Resolution In Church: Focus On Sekwang Church, Byeong Joo Im

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

This study aims to minimize conflicts that impede church unity and causes a decline in growth in advance, present a general diagnosis and analysis of the causes, and suggest appropriate solutions to them to mature the conflicts that have arisen. The Korean Church has achieved quantitative growth. Since the 1990s, however, Korean churches have seen a decline in growth. One of the causes is the inability to resolve the deepening and diversity of church conflicts. The researcher wrote this dissertation with the hope that the pastors of the Korean Church are ready for conflicts. Unfortunately, some pastors have become a …

The Need For Solid Teaching On Spiritual Warfare, Charles Louis Trammell May 2020

The Need For Solid Teaching On Spiritual Warfare, Charles Louis Trammell

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

Literature verifies an abundance of information on spiritual warfare, while resources that teach its concepts and practices are limited. Many bad experiences lead one to question whether church leadership adequately addresses biblical spiritual warfare. The purpose of this project is to 1) determine the need for Bible-based teaching on spiritual warfare, 2) discuss the importance of the full armor of God, and 3) discuss the implementation of the armor to provide the opportunity for an abundant life in Jesus Christ. Academic journals, articles, and books will discuss spiritual warfare concepts, theology, history, and weaponry. Also, data and statistics will demonstrate …

Four Scriptural Principles: Creating A Discipleship Culture In A Caribbean Church Context, Reynold Decourcey Price May 2020

Four Scriptural Principles: Creating A Discipleship Culture In A Caribbean Church Context, Reynold Decourcey Price

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

Pastors and church leaders have critical roles to play in the spiritual development of their members. In this study, this student proposes to present a practical solution to a perennial issue that plagues his church and many others in Trinidad and Tobago. Presently, many church members are spiritual consumers of the ministry of a few, while they remain spiritual infants who do not contribute to the local church or to fulfilling the Great Commission. The churches are faced with the problem of determining how to teach, train, and disciple its members effectively to become spiritually mature disciples who know their …
