Teachers would be under a great handicap if they could not use some kind of a visual aid to guide their teaching, especially in the beginners, primary, and junior departments of both the church and public schools. Visual aids are used in the public schools in the intermediate and high school age groups, but they have not been used in these departments in the church to a very large extent. Much has been written on the subject of New Testament Introduction. An investigation disclosed the astonishing and revealing fact, that most of the Introductions which could be recommended to laymen were in old books which were no longer in print. It was also discovered that some which were available for laymen, were too brief in content as well as inadequate for comprehension. Some of the books were in too fine a print to attract the layman. Most introductions do not contain the message of the several epistles. Thus this study was undertaken.

This study is an attempt to clarify the wealth of material written on the subject of the servant, because so many adverse options have arisen. The recent findings of the Qumran Literature, or the Dead Sea Scrolls, has given opportunity to re-examine the interpretations of the servant passages. Very little material of significance is added to the study from the Qumran Literature, though the probable interpretation of the servant held by the Qumran community may be deducted from the literature. Excerpt: "In the eighteenth century, when the unity of the prophecy of Isaiah began to be questioned, a new wave of critical studies ensued. Among these were many views expressed concerning what was called Deutero-Isaiah (chapters 40-66). The dating of this section of Isaiah greatly affected the interpretation of the prophecies, especially those connected with the exile and all future events. As the early fervor to prevent workable theories of interpretation for those prophesies developed, it was evident that there was more unity to the writings of this section than had previously been held."
