A Study Of The Sin And Death Of Moses In Biblical Literature, Harry E. Woodall
A Study Of The Sin And Death Of Moses In Biblical Literature, Harry E. Woodall
OBU Graduate Theses
Recently Dr. Clyde T. Francisco, who is professor of Old Testament interpretation at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, suggested that one of the great mysteries of the Bible is contained in the sin and death of Moses. Inquiry into the subject has validated his statement, for the interpretation of Moses' sin and death has been subject to many theories and speculations. The following Biblical passages are concerned with the sin and death of Moses: Numbers 20:1-13; 22-29; 27:12-14; Deuteronomy 1:35-40; 3:23-29; 4:21-24; 32:48-52; 34:1-7. Other related Biblical passages include Psalm 106:32-33, ·Mark 9:2-13 and synoptic parallels including Matthew 17: 1-13 and …

In this study we will attempt to discover the background of [apostolos] among its pagan ancestors. In addition to this area, we will also be concerned with the Jewish background which exerted a formative influence on the meaning of the word. Finally, an attempt will be made to see the result of this combination of backgrounds as it came to be reflected in the New Testament.

A Study Of The Doctrinal Significance Of Certain Textual Changes Made By The Prophet Joseph Smith In The Four Gospels Of The Inspired Version Of The New Testament, Robert J. Matthews
A Study Of The Doctrinal Significance Of Certain Textual Changes Made By The Prophet Joseph Smith In The Four Gospels Of The Inspired Version Of The New Testament, Robert J. Matthews
Theses and Dissertations
The several versions and revisions of the Bible in existence precipitate questions concerning the reliability of many Biblical texts. Each of these versions has an amount of variation from the others, yet all were done my men of accepted scholarship.
Joseph Smith also made a Bible revision, or as he termed it, a "translation," using a King James Version printed in 1828 as the basis. This amended King James Version, although not fully completed, has been published under the title of the Inspired Version of the Holy Scriptures, by the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

A Survey Of Some Recent Writing On The Problem Of The New Testament Kergyma, Gene M. Carrell
A Survey Of Some Recent Writing On The Problem Of The New Testament Kergyma, Gene M. Carrell
Graduate Thesis Collection
Until recently, very little had been written directly on the problem of the New Testament kergyma. Works designed solely for the purpose of setting forth the nature of the message of the primitive preaching of the church, and the forms of the preaching of the primitive message of the church, were woefully lacking. However, in recent years there has been a return to a discussion of this problem. This thesis seeks to provide a survey of some of the literature of this recent investigation of the kergyma of the New Testament.

An Objective Study Of Ii Peter, Maurice E. Beery
An Objective Study Of Ii Peter, Maurice E. Beery
Graduate Thesis Collection
II Peter has been a very controversial epistle. To use the term, 'has been', takes us as far back as the second century, for the early church fathers were sceptical of its value and authenticity and some have claimed that it came near not being part of the New Testament canon.
You will note that this study is not a commentary but rather an introduction to the problems that have arisen concerning this epistle.
A Critical Study Of The Colossian Epistle, Vernon Bowers
A Critical Study Of The Colossian Epistle, Vernon Bowers
Graduate Thesis Collection
Among the twenty-seven books in the New Testament canon, there is an epistle addressed to the church which met at Golossae. This epistle isn't very large; in fact it barely consumes four or five pages in the entire Bible. Yet it is important; for with it there is left to the Christian world a remnant of history, both of the life of the church and of the life of her greatest apostle, which it would not have otherwise possessed. A great number of Christian communications which, if they would have been preserved, would have yielded many times over the information …

A Critical Study Of The Greek Words Translated Veils And An Application To The Book Of Hebrews, John Douglas Livingston
A Critical Study Of The Greek Words Translated Veils And An Application To The Book Of Hebrews, John Douglas Livingston
Master's Theses
Statement of the problem
It is the purpose of this study to discover, if possible, the precise meaning assigned in Hebrews 6:19; 10:20 to "the veil" mentioned in each of these verses. This study is made in the belief that this epistle comes to us from the Apostle Paul and that, accordingly, though it may contain "some things hard to be understood," it was written "according to the wisdom given unto him" by God. On this account the investigation has been carried out with confidence in the ultimate possibility of determining (1) whether "the veil" of Hebrews 6:19 refers to …
An Investigation Of The Syntax Of Words Denoting Time In The New Testament, Ronald David Drayson
An Investigation Of The Syntax Of Words Denoting Time In The New Testament, Ronald David Drayson
Master's Theses
Statement of the problem
In the English language, a word denoting time calls for the assistance of other words in order to describe the particular aspect of the time to which reference is made. For instance, the word "night" by itself describes little, but "by night" or "night-time" suggests the specific kind of time in contrast to "day time". "In the night" refers to a point of time at which something happened that did not involve the whole night, whereas "during the night" or "throughout the night" would suggest an extension of a condition or experience during the whole of …
