Scrapbooks

Betty Wiseman graduated from Belmont College and began teaching health and physical education in 1966. She was the founder and coach of the Belmont women’s basketball team, the Rebelettes (now Bruins), in 1968. At the time, it was one of the first women’s collegiate teams in the southeast. She was inducted into the Belmont Athletics Hall of Fame in 1981. She was also inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame in 2004. Wiseman coached the women’s team for 16 years (1968-1984) before moving into athletic administration at Belmont. She served as Assistant Athletics Director until her retirement in 2013. …

It is the purpose of this study (1) to portray in visual, graphic form the negative consequences resulting from inhumanitarian acts man inflicts upon himself and others; (2) to delineate these actions in a revealing, subtle manner that is still representative of the facts of reality; (3) to experiment with a diverse range of intaglio printmaking techniques and compositional arrangements which best produce the visual, emotional effects desired.

Theses and Dissertations

This study presents the life facts of John Hafen and examines his attitude changes as well as the changes in his art throughout his life. It catalogs with photographs the majority of Hafen's paintings.

John Hafen's personal letters were searched, as well as books, manuscripts and newspapers for information germane to this thesis. Personal interviews were held with people who knew him best and his paintings were found, photographed, and examined for use in this thesis.

John Hafen's life of fifty-four years was dedicated to his family, his church, and his art.

Eight Cone Six Glazes For The Electric Kiln, John D. Coiner

This thesis is concerned with the development of eight, cone 6 (2232° F) ceramic glazes to be used in an electric kiln. These glazes were developed from a scientific approach in which the basic formula was calculated on paper. From these base formulas a trial and error approach was taken in which the basic chemicals were then adjusted until the desired esthetic quality and necessary firing dependability were achieved. The Wood And Metal Lamination Process In Jewelry Making, Joseph Dean Bolender

The problem under investigation was to combine wood and metal using a lamination process. Research was limited to the area of jewelry making. No previous references describing this process could be found. The technical considerations found necessary to successfully use the lamination technique were as follows: 1) Epoxy glue, a resin and a catalyst, is required; 2) the metal surfaces must be roughed up with emery paper to allow for a stronger wood to metal bond; 3) a backing of metal or wood is necessary on large pieces to provide adequate strength; 4) wood and metal parts must be clamped …
