Nexus is a magazine that began as an insert in the Wright State Guardian student newspaper in 1965 and has since been published semi-regularly. It began only accepting creative writing, but has since expanded to include illustrations, photography and other non-written art forms. Today, it is published in a digital format and accepts submissions from around the country, though it maintains its commitment to the Wright State Community.

A Series Of Paintings Which Investigate And Present Volume Experience As An Aspect Of Spatial Tension With Hue Variations As A Prime Agent, Carl B. Clapp

This work is concerned with volume as presented in a painting. The investigation begins with a painting of drawn geometric shapes. Each successive painting problem explores additional facets of variations from this basic problem.

There is a total of six painting problems. The general intent of these problems is to investigate the following in regard to volume of experience:

1. color contrast in hue, value, intensity, proportion and complement
2. pattern variations
3. the color phenomenon of simultaneous contrast

The medium is acrylic polymer emulsion applied with brush on stretch canvas.

This underground was originally supposed to be Bogeyman #4, but Last Gasp or someone figured it would be better under a different title. A gruesome but often funny underground-style horror comic featuring Rory Hayes, Kim Deitch, Spain, Bill Griffith, S. Clay Wilson and Justin Green. One of Green's contributions is one of his best Binky Brown stories. The four-page "The Agony of Binky Brown" is like a condensed origin story for Green's signature character. Children's books have been a source of delight to them; they have evoked both tears and laughter from young audiences. The illustrator has come to be a partner in the creation of hooks for children. The term children's literature now includes the efforts of both illustrators and authors. It was not always so. For many years children read adult books because there was no such thing as a storybook for children. When they came, the books for children were dull fare. They were moralizing with few, if any, illustrations.

Betty Wiseman graduated from Belmont College and began teaching health and physical education in 1966. She was the founder and coach of the Belmont women’s basketball team, the Rebelettes (now Bruins), in 1968. At the time, it was one of the first women’s collegiate teams in the southeast. She was inducted into the Belmont Athletics Hall of Fame in 1981. She was also inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame in 2004. Wiseman coached the women’s team for 16 years (1968-1984) before moving into athletic administration at Belmont. She served as Assistant Athletics Director until her retirement in 2013. …

This study was concerned with social conunent and the intensity of emotional expression. The work was not intended to be a sociological study with illustrations, nor as an over-literate approach to art, but rather as a study of fine art problems.
