The present exhibition has been organized to focus attention on one of the most flourishing aspects of contemporary American painting, the revival of representational art in the traditional formats of the landscape, the figure and the still life. Betty Wiseman graduated from Belmont College and began teaching health and physical education in 1966. She was the founder and coach of the Belmont women’s basketball team, the Rebelettes (now Bruins), in 1968. At the time, it was one of the first women’s collegiate teams in the southeast. She was inducted into the Belmont Athletics Hall of Fame in 1981. She was also inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame in 2004. Wiseman coached the women’s team for 16 years (1968- 1984) before moving into athletic administration at Belmont. She served as Assistant Athletics Director until her retirement in …

My objectives in writing this paper were to research selected watercolorists whose work I admire and whose work bears a relationship to my own, and to make a comparative analysis. In the process of research, I found that not all of the work of the artists I had chosen related totally to my own, but there was at least one of the basic elements that did apply. The subject of children and adults within spatial environments in two and three dimension, all are included to form the basis of this thesis projects. The paper describes the subject matter by means of procedures, references, and methods of presentation.

Chapter I explains the overall problems, the materials incorporated, and shows actual photographs of the work. Chapter II provides historical precedents relevant to the topic chosen. Chapter III involves a presentation which uses three separate aspects inviting the spectator to join in and by participating relate to each experience in his or her own way.

This paper presents a survey of statements and the works of eight teacher-potters in Illinois. The works range from simple functional ware to funk art objects. The firing temperatures range from low fire white ware to high fire salt. The styles of the work are many; the philosophies of the work varied; and techniques of the work are diversified; but common to each work is its creation from idea to actuality by the teacher-potter. My intention in painting and drawing is to demonstrate luminous effects in an atmospheric field.

In painting, attention is directed to various color impressions. A color may be perceived as iridescent, metallic, filmy, voluminous, hard, etc. Also, an overall tinted atmosphere establishes a misty field in which these color impressions are displayed. A systematically prepared palette of adjusted colors is then formed. The idea is a planned color effect transforming design elements.

In drawing, light and dark contrast control sets the illumination character. Various graphitic media are used to render atmospheric perspective and delineate objects in space. Impressions of texture, …

The objective of this paper is to focus attention on the versatility of the solid geometric box and its variations as utilized by the author in creating a multitude ot interchangeable sculpture from a single set of boxes.
