NEBO: A Literary Journal

Nebo, Volume 1, Issue 2 (Fall 1983), published by the English Department of Arkansas Tech University, is a twice-yearly literary journal showcasing poetry and fiction. This issue features a diverse collection of literary works from both emerging and established writers, including contributions from Turner Cassity, Les A. Murray, Dana Gioia, and many others. The publication provides a platform for unique voices exploring themes of identity, memory, relationships, and the complexities of the human experience. The journal is edited by faculty and student editors and continues its tradition of curating engaging and thought-provoking creative writing.

Nexus Literary Journal

Nexus is a magazine that began as an insert in the Wright State Guardian student newspaper in 1965 and has since been published semi-regularly. It began only accepting creative writing, but has since expanded to include illustrations, photography and other non-written art forms. Today, it is published in a digital format and accepts submissions from around the country, though it maintains its commitment to the Wright State Community.

The central concept of my work is to bring opposing visual elements into harmony with one another. I feel that every aspect of life is composed of contradictory components or forces: order vs. chaos, the beautiful vs. the offensive, work vs. leisure, excitement vs. stability, method vs. chance. The examples are endless. These opposing elements are components in life which need to be balanced against each other to achieve harmony and order, as opposed to strife and conflict.
