This article evaluates the infrastructure development plans in Zambia's newly established districts, primarily focusing on assessing their effectiveness. Infrastructure development encompasses various strategies, and this study investigates the factors influencing the selection of these strategies for implementing infrastructure projects in Zambia. Through structured interviews and questionnaires distributed to 500 respondents, the research highlights the critical role of community involvement. Communities play a pivotal role in identifying essential amenities, setting priorities for infrastructure construction, incorporating their ideas, and participating in the planning process for executing infrastructure projects. Creating Interconnected Outdoor Green Infrastructure In The Case Of Aksum Historical Sites, Ethiopia, Guesh Hagos Gebru

This study investigates the state of outdoor green infrastructures (GI) in Aksum, Ethiopia, employing qualitative and quantitative approaches to address the disconnect between the expanding urban fabric and sustainable green space development. Sentinel satellite imagery and public perception surveys revealed a fragmented landscape of green spaces, including underdeveloped areas like heritage sites, cemeteries, churches, public spaces, stream fronts, and roadside spaces. Quantitative analysis using the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and Normalized Difference Built-Up Index (NDBI) indicated limited healthy vegetation and a built environment predominance. NDVI values ranged from +0.1 to +0.5, suggesting the presence of grass and shrubs, while …

This final practicum focuses on the community of elderly and/or disabled seniors who are negatively impacted by city-implemented street changes. This includes, but is not limited to Open Streets, traffic calming and bike boulevards on different New York City streets. The final product produced for this community was a four part video testimonial from people in different geographical communities, talking about how they and other folks in that community are hindered by street changes.

Abstract: This abstract discusses the challenges and issues related to the implementation of Environmental Public Policies (EPP) for Protected Natural Areas (PNA) in Mexico from 1970 to 2018. EPPs aim to achieve sustainable development by balancing economic, environmental, and social dimensions while reconciling conservation and the use of natural resources with restrictions on their use and economic compensation to communities. Mid-level administrators occupy a complex position within higher education institutions, a role defined by “middleness” (Gleeson & Shain, 1999, p. 488), which characterizes their place in institutional hierarchies between superiors and subordinates. Mid-level administrators often feel isolated since they cannot be seen as having close personal relationships with those above or below them in the rankings. Research shows the health benefits of green spaces are universal, but there's a noticeable disparity in their distribution in the U.S., especially between urban and rural areas. Marginalized groups, particularly those of lower economic status or racial minorities, often have limited access to these spaces. This inequity could be more impactful on the elderly, who are more vulnerable to health issues. However, specific health benefits of green spaces for seniors are not well defined. The presentation discusses the study currently being conducted on stakeholder perceptions and attitudes towards greenspaces. This is completed through the identification of different uses and features to maximize use of the space and stakeholder engagement in the community garden. To better understand stakeholder opinions, we utilized a creative qualitative research method combining photovoice and interviews/focus groups. We conducted eight in-depth semi-structured interviews and four focus groups. Multiple interviewees agreed that the Dayton View Triangle lacks access to a green space. In March 2021, the Kentucky General Assembly passed House Bill 321 (Acts Chapter 203) authorizing the creation of a tax increment finance (TIF) district within the West End of Louisville. Designed to spur community-wide economic development, it set up a public-private nonprofit partnership. Known as the West End Opportunity Partnership (WEOP), this 21-seat board include community representatives and has sole control over any fund disbursement. Funds can be used towards a broad array of investments including small business loans, financing affordable housing units, home improvements, etc.
