This study investigates the influence of concrete jacketing on the performance of steel columns subjected to blast loading, which can lead to progressive collapse. Using Finite Element Method (FEM) simulations, the research evaluates concrete-encased steel columns with different concrete cover thicknesses to measure their resistance to lateral displacements induced by blasts. Findings reveal that increasing the thickness of the concrete cover markedly improves the column's ability to withstand such loads. The study also highlights that steel has better energy dissipation properties than concrete. Global supply chains have vulnerabilities, and these escalate in crisis times like pandemics or wars. Digital twinning of supply chains can provide early alerts and timely interventions. We examined three companies in different industries using Digital Twin (DT) technology to improve their supply chain performance. We found that while DT successfully enhanced performance indicators, the dollar and time costs were significant, creating barriers to wider DT adoption. We conclude by outlining the positives and negatives of implementing Digital Twins in global supply chains.

A synthesis of recent literature evaluates successful retrofitting initiatives, elucidates ongoing challenges, and assesses the repercussions of global events on the dynamic process of facility conversion. The resulting analysis culminates in evidence-based recommendations for future investigations and the operational enhancement of Paralympic venues. These findings suggest that adopting a collaborative approach, anchored in universal design principles and preemptive planning, is imperative to developing accessible, efficient, and ecologically responsible Paralympic infrastructures.

Conventional approaches are limited due to the brain's struggle to process visual information without cognitive manipulation. This study used a convolutional neural network to assess the intensity of colour contrasts in images of 5-star hotel lobby interiors with high levels of coherence and complexity.
