Never Saw: An Anthology On Remote Warfare, David M. Shelton

Night Flight: Online Literary Journal

In the 21^st century, warfare is becoming more remote, and less intimate, with the introduction of drones and communication technology. Never Saw plays on the fact that servicemember have less direct involvement in fighting an enemy in alternate points of views from the servicemembers and the victims of indirect warfare. The anthology of poems covers multiple professions’ perspectives of indirect warfare, and they inform the readers of the changes to conventional warfare and the effect it has mentally for the new generation of warriors.

Global: Jurnal Politik Internasional

This study examines Indonesia’s submarine procurement cooperation with France, analysing whether it provides the appropriate amount of power to ensure Indonesia’s survival amid the great power rivalry in the Indo-Pacific region. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the research applies the framework of defensive realism to examine the power to survive. The findings suggest that Indonesia’s choice of the Scorpene-class submarine aligns with its primary security objective. The advanced lithium-ion technology in these submarines offers superior operational endurance and stealth capabilities compared to the conventional submarine technology provided by South Korea and Turkey. The purpose of this phenomenological study is to explore the lived experiences of parents to understand their spiritual formation techniques for the development of students and the perceived impacts at University-Model® Schools. At this stage in the research, spiritual formation is defined as the process of conforming to Jesus's image in his service (Pettit, 2008). A number of psychological issues are experienced by individuals who have experienced CSA, including depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder, as well as intrusive thoughts contribute to the perpetuation of the mental health problem. Studies have shown that spiritual practices, such as prayer, meditation, reading the Bible, and reciting scripture affirmations, can improve mental health, improving one’s psychological well-being. Further, intrusive thoughts may be initiated by dark spiritual influences. The 1922 Compact only apportions the beneficial consumptive use of the river system’s waters between two geographic sub-basins, an Upper Basin and a Lower Basin. The 1922 Compact negotiators left the task of allocating water to individual states to future negotiations among the sub-basins. The five states with Upper Basin lands completed this task in 1948. The negotiations of the Upper Colorado River Basin Compact provide significant context for understanding the Law of the River, particularly considering ongoing Post-2026 Colorado River Operations discussions. Pleading With Particularity: Decoding When Computer Fraud And Abuse Act Claims Must Comply With Rule 9(B), Brooke R. Newman

The primary tool for litigating cybercrimes is the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA), which Congress enacted in 1984 following increased computer misuse. Since its debut, the CFAA has undergone a series of amendments. The most noteworthy of which for civil litigators came in 1994 when Congress enacted a civil penalty for cybercrimes. Part of this penalty includes 18 U.S.C. § 1030(a)(4), which prohibits fraudulent conduct in connection with computer usage. In recent years, litigators have weaponized § 1030(a)(4) to challenge a variety of conduct, most of which has nothing to do with cybercrimes. These filings have split district courts …

The Military Order of the Serpent (M.O.S.) was an American anti-Filipino minstrel fraternity and veterans' organization comprised of members of the United Spanish War Veterans. To commemorate the Philippine-American War, the group dressed in Filipino blackface and paraded around the United States from 1904 to 1974. Publicly, the group’s narrative arc posited that Filipinos, by virtue of their contact with the United States Military, underwent a rapid, three-phased evolution from savage to civil. Privately, they celebrated one of the war’s atrocities, and expressed their racist hostilities and amalgamationist anxieties. During the 1920s, when Filipino emigration to the United States began …

The study of underwater cultural heritage, and that of sunken warships, has typically focused on the legal protections that surround a site in the years, or often centuries, after the sinking. The Russia-Ukraine conflict has given cause to study the topic in a more modern context. Several Russian Naval vessels have been sunk by Ukraine, the most famous being the Black Sea flagship, the Moskva, in April 2022. Following the sinking, Ukraine stated the Moskva was now a heritage site, with a Ukrainian Defence Minister joking that the wreck was simply “one more diving spot.”

As persistent threats to the integrity of some of our most important public institutions remind us, every public institution faces the challenge of combating the abuse of its powers for ends inconsistent with the public values it aims to serve. Public law employs a distinctive set of strategies for addressing that challenge: vesting institutional powers with public officials, imposing public-regarding duties on those officials, and ensuring compliance with the duties by subjecting officials’ decisions to various forms of oversight and accountability.

Shock tubes and tunnels are often used in research settings as a way of producing high pressure shock waves in a smaller footprint or without the use of explosives. However, there is no standard geometric design across laboratories. Peak pressure is a significant parameter for characterizing a shock wave. However, different tube configurations could also affect parameters such as impulse and duration, yet no research has investigated how the scale of the tube affects the overall waveform shape. This article recovers a critical episode in the history of economic sanctions and considers its implications for international legal order. Beginning in 1905, a group of Chinese citizens launched a series of protests targeting American, British, and Japanese goods. These boycotts caused economic damage, disrupted international relations, and at times won significant political victories. By conceptualizing civilization and state as integrated systems consisting of interacting subsystems, their similarities and differences can be analyzed. The central hypothesis is that civilization consists of three material subsystems — economy, government, and knowledge — and one non-material subsystem, transcendence. When the transcendent subsystem is diminished or destroyed by decree or overwhelming rational and scientific evidence, the emergence of the state occurs as in the cases of the Mongol Empire, the Soviet Union, and communist China.
