Personal journal entries recount how graduate students and their instructor respond to a point of encounter in an online studio course at a large research institution in the Southeastern United States. Inspired by collectivist othermothering practices, the article speaks to learning from Black scholars while chronicling a shared experience and responding to an anxious now that is navigating the N-word together. The authors aim to center caring exchanges and ethical practices for the purpose of (re)building safety and hope that this article will be helpful to art educators who also encounter the N-word or have similar moments of crisis.

With the unsustainability of the current global economic and financial systems that have exacerbated the ecological crises, it is timely to turn our attention to the shamanic religiosity of the indigenous peoples. The wisdomteachings of shamanic pneumatology are invaluable in helping the earth community to negotiate this critical ecological era. The first part of this paper explains the indigenous understanding and experience of the Great Spirit. The second part will delve into the future of pneumatology in terms of the three major paths: live-in dialogue, plunging into the depth of religious mystical traditions, and dialogue with modern science and cosmology.

Evangelical worship has undergone significant changes since the mid-20th century, culminating in the 1990s with the merger of two theological streams: “Praise and Worship” and “Contemporary Worship.” This research project examines the role of emotion in corporate musical worship, exploring the potential for emotionalism and the suppression of emotional expression. The study analyzes Scripture, the emotional effects of music and religious practices, and cultural influences on emotional expression in worship. This dissertation investigates host-microbial interactions within the teleost brain, previously considered sterile. Reviewing current literature highlights significant gaps in understanding teleost brain immunity, despite prevalent neurotropic diseases. We mapped the immune profiles of rainbow trout brains and meninges, revealing the olfactory bulbs as the immune effector part of the brain and the optic tectum as a nod2 expression hub. High il6 and il10 levels were noted in the telencephalon. A persistent bacterial community within healthy salmonid brains shares diversity with gut and blood microbiota. Brain bacterial isolates exhibit genomic signatures for brain colonization and polyamine biosynthesis. The microbiota shifts across …

In this dissertation, I examine culture and communication in transnational Nigeria, focusing on Nollywood and its industrial politics. Through a critical ethnographic examination of Nollywood’s reception among global and transnational audiences, I critique the evolving patterns of difference, power, and politics informing production, distribution, consumption, and performance/communication of otherness. With four composite dimensions of decoloniality: structural, epistemic, personal, and relational as theoretical foundation, I analyzed observations and interviews with 21 transnational Nigerians, online focus group discussions, user reviews, movies/series, and blogposts.
