Managing engagement with existing and potential consumers on social networking sites has proven to be a challenge for many brands (Gretry et al., 2017). Focusing on the marketing communications of American beverage brands on Facebook, the researcher aimed to learn why some brands earn more engagement than competing brands. To answer this question, the researcher conducted a qualitative study that utilized a content analysis. Social exchange theory was applied to the findings of the content analysis, which allowed the researcher to perceive and interpret the high-value rewards of brand communication. BackgroundDiathermy smoke is a recognised occupational hazard, exposing staff to smoke equivalent to between 27 and 30 cigarettes each day.1 Consequences of inhalation include acute and chronic inflammatory lung conditions, carcinogenesis and exposure to pathogens including human immunodeficiency virus.2 The Health and Safety Executive recommends that, “If exposure to diathermy emissions can't be prevented then it should be adequately controlled … by Local Exhaust Ventilation”.3 Commercially available smoke extractors are expensive and costly to maintain. The units used in our hospital, for example, cost £2,040 and require perishable filters. Compatible, single-use diathermy pencils cost on average £16.08. We describe an …

The thesis examines and explains literary techniques of historical fiction. Observations and studies of historical photographs and handwritten letters, along with qualitative research through studies, journals, historical fiction pieces, and Chicago info-maps, provided accuracy for the historical fiction and a clear reflection of humanity, which is significant in understanding the argument.

Ultimately, the historical fiction shows not just 1930 American society, but where it is today. The thesis argues and proves that whimsical tones are appropriate and effective despite the uneasy time and setting and the foreboding conflicts during 1930.

This project aims to identify and address the factors hindering the effective utilization of the simulation lab at Grady Memorial Hospital. Despite the simulation lab’s potential to enhance clinical skills and decision-making abilities through realistic medical scenarios, it remains underutilized. This evaluation project was a pretest and posttest design to assess the impact of educational interventions. Educational workshops, email communications, and awareness campaigns were the primary methods used to increase the understanding and utilization of the simulation lab.

Data analysis involved descriptive and thematic analyses of lab usage metrics and pre- and posttest responses. The findings indicate that simulation-based learning …

The United States and Confederate Navies saw the most action and glory in the first days of the Battle of Mobile Bay in 1864. It is therefore not surprising that historians paint the opening scenes of the battle with naval accounts such as Admiral David Glasgow Farragut shouting, “Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!” as he sails into Mobile Bay. They mention little about the Army. In contrast, historians record little about the U.S. Navy’s role in the following three weeks while the Army laid siege to Fort Gaines and Fort Morgan. International Journal of Regional Issues in the Arts

This article draws critical attention to strengths and needs within the arts ecosystem of Columbus, Ohio. Relying on interviews and focus groups with artists and arts leaders, we establish three themes as the most prevalent and cross-cutting among artists and arts leaders: needs for community building, paid work, and space. Based on these stated needs, we identify two aspects of the arts ecosystem in Columbus: launchpad and homebase, neither of which fully support artistic careers. We argue that with investment will also come the opportunity to develop a stronger ecosystem that allows artists to live, work, and thrive in Columbus.

The Vertac Superfund site in Jacksonville, Arkansas was a man-made disaster that affected the city in multiple ways socially and economically. It began with the start of World War II, and the construction of the Arkansas Ordnance Plant in 1942. After the end of World War II, Reasor-Hill bought and reused the area for chemical production. While the company created jobs, it also began to create the setting for an environmental disaster, as more chemical companies traded the site around for chemical production, including the components for Agent Orange. It is well attested that wherever people gather, acrobats, poets, musicians, dancers, and tricksters also appear and perform. Although street performers can be found throughout the entire world, they are curiously shunned in New York City, while Plovidiv, Bulgaria in March 2015 decided to follow other European cities in having auditions or qualifiers for performers in public places. This research adds to scholarship on performance art as a beneficial element in developing a sense of place in urban environments, particularly pedestrian malls. This paper argues that the proliferation of geographical inquiry into popular culture as a prism for understanding geopolitical processes can benefit from more sustained engagement with psychoanalytic theory, particularly the work of Melanie Klein . Klein’s account of guilt and the urge to make reparation as both central to the development of conscience and profoundly unevenly distributed contributes to a critique of dominant, uneven geographies of guilt and encourages a nuanced approach to guilt’s potential ethical implications . This was a qualitative study of the experiences of Dungeons & Dragons players at the Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) club at a private university in the Western United States. Previous research has shown that the benefits of playing Tabletop Roleplaying Games (TTRPGs) include developing social skills, developing empathy, and finding respite from reality. The goal of this research was to identify how role-players perceive they are affected by TTRPGs and what is appealing about TTRPGs. The participants in this study identified that, as a result of playing TTRPGs, they learned to develop better social skills and empathy. Their top reasons …
