Journal of Educational Technology Development and Exchange (JETDE)

The traditional cultures around the world not only symbolize the spirit and soul of different countries, but also provide the most essential resources for education. This study examined the effect of reverse engineering pedagogy (REP) and forward project pedagogy (FPP) on students’ cultural heritage literacy and creativity in a cultural-oriented STEAM course (C-STEAM). A total of 128 undergraduate students from a major university in China participated in a paper sculpture C-STEAM project, and were randomly divided into two groups: the treatment group (with 64 students) which adopted REP, and the control group (with 64 students) which adopted FPP. Curtains Up - Utilizing Assistive Technology For Inclusive Theater Experiences, Lauren Tucker, Nikki Burnell, Morgan Dalton, Marisa Donenfeld, Catherine Gruszka Vadala

Journal of the Arts and Special Education

Community partnerships can enhance inclusive spaces within the performing arts maximizing the knowledge and expertise within organizations. This article shares the components of a collaboration between a non-profit performing arts venue and a graduate program in assistive technology (AT). Through this affiliation visual and communication supports were designed and implemented at sensory-friendly and relaxed performances offered at the theater. A patron profile is presented to illustrate how the supports were integrated before, during, and after the event. The article concludes with next steps and actual patron perspectives as a result of the relationship.

Artificial intelligence (“AI”) technology has detonated an explosive burst of seemingly creative expression. Stories, images, music, and even entire books are now being generated very quickly. This development is a major headache for copyright registrars because the copyrightability of works created in this way is uncertain. The almost limitless variability in the extent of human involvement in the creation of a work using an AI tool compounds the uncertainty. In some cases, copyrightability is easy to determine, such as where an author only claims rights in the selection and arrangement of AI-generated output rather than the output itself. But in …

Jerry Silver grew up in the Bronx after moving from Brooklyn in the mid-1930s. His family rented an apartment on Kruger Avenue before buying a home on Holland Avenue during the Depression. Jerry attended PS 96 and PS 76 before graduating early from Christopher Columbus High School and later earning his undergraduate and law degrees from NYU. He fondly remembers playing in the street, working part-time jobs, and being passionate about baseball, often attending games. He served in the military from 1952 to 1954, started a small law practice in the Bronx, and worked extensively with the Legal Aid Society. …
