Make America Fake Again?: Banning Deepfakes Of Federal Candidates In Political Advertisements Under The First Amendment, Sophie Loewenstein

In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) technology has developed rapidly. Accompanying this advancement in sophistication and accessibility are various societal benefits and risks. For example, political campaigns and political action committees have begun to use AI in advertisements to generate deepfakes of opposing candidates to influence voters. Deepfakes of political candidates interfere with voters’ ability to discern falsity from reality and make informed decisions at the ballot box. As a result, these deepfakes pose a threat to the integrity of elections and the existence of democracy. Despite the dangers of deepfakes, regulating false political speech raises significant First Amendment questions. …

This research aimed at improving the quality of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) teaching at a British international school in Brunei Darussalam. Evidence from a range of sources suggested that teachers at the school were not employing common STEM instructional practices when giving their pupils STEM problems to solve. The purpose of the two research questions was to identify how STEM lessons were being taught in Grades 2 to 7 in the school, and to measure the influence of STEM-related professional development sessions on teachers’ STEM pedagogical knowledge and STEM instructional practices. Objectives. Patients with progressive neurologic illness still lack access to quality palliative care services. Barriers to the comprehensive provision of neuropalliative care include gaps in palliative care education. To address this barrier, a novel international model of neuropalliative care education e-learning program was launched in 2022. Methods. This is a qualitative study on the self-reported learning outcomes and educational gains of participants of a neuropalliative care e-learning course. Results. Thematic analysis shows changes in the participants’ perceptions of neuropalliative care and several specific educational gains. This thesis examines how African and Afro Creole men utilized the availability of and demand for forced and voluntary militia service under French, Spanish, and American governance as a mode of resistance to discrimination and repression within the social structures of the region. The influence and connections built through militia service were engaged to protect and preserve rights, customs, and opportunities for the Afro Creole community. From the establishment of the Louisiana colony until the Civil War, African and Afro Creole men utilized the service required in defense of their new home to gain freedoms, expand their personal and community …

This dissertation advocates for the integration of contemporary popular music into classical voice education, addressing the evolving landscape of the performing arts. As the boundary between classical and popular music fades, incorporating popular elements into traditional opera training equips performers for modern industry demands.

The first chapter offers a historical analysis, tracing opera’s origins from the late 16th century and showing how popular music influenced its development. Composers incorporated folk melodies and dance rhythms into early opera, setting a precedent for blending styles. According to the Pew Research Center, there has been an increase in social networking site (SNS) usage by 72% since 2011. Due to the rise, researchers have undertaken studies on using the internet and SNS-based data with forensic assessments. However, researchers have not explored the views and opinions of professionals who conduct these evaluations, specifically regarding doctoral-level practitioners and criminal responsibility. Due to this, the American Psychological Association (APA) does not have specific guidelines on using SNS as a collateral source. Kimi Eisele1 is a writer, dancer/choreographer, performer, director, visual artist, and educator based in Tucson, Arizona. Drawing on her MA in geography and a long-standing interest in place and space, she creates works that engage local landscapes, including ecosystems, political systems, and human communities. In 1997, while a graduate student in geography at the University of Arizona, she founded you are here: the journal of creative geography, an interdisciplinary outlet for place-based writing and art, a publication that is still going strong.

Championing The City Motto: An Analysis Of Edmonton’S Un/Official Slogan, Nathan Bunio, Elvin Wyly

This article examines urban slogans using a case study of Edmonton’s unofficial motto; “City of Champions.” We will be exploring the decision-making process regarding the city slogan, specifically who creates and adopts a city slogan, and what the relationship is between a city’s slogan and its residents. The analysis focuses on events in 2003, when the Edmonton Economic Development Corporation suggested creating a new slogan for the City, prompting a debate over whether to keep or discard the old slogan: “City of Champions.” We carried out a historical case study, using newspaper articles, blogs, and city documents, to gauge public …

The humanities have the potential to enhance STEM curriculum in career-oriented professional degree programs. As part of a larger college-wide initiative to develop interdisciplinary curricula, the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) awarded a grant to New York City College of Technology to explore the relationship between the humanities and career-focused degree programs in STEM departments. This article describes the design and implementation of coursework that bridges the curricular divides between humanities disciplines and technical or career-focused disciplines by bringing the humanities to bear on science and technology-oriented courses. This study investigates the impact of the earthquakes that occurred in the first half of the 3rd millennium BCE on Western Anatolian settlements, aiming to determine the dates of the earthquakes that happened during the prehistoric period using the earthquake layers of the settlements and associated C14 data. The focus of the paper is the investigation of the effects of two earthquakes that occurred in the region during the first half of the 3rd millennium BCE on the settlements of the region.
