Background: During the past several decades, enterococci are emerging as an important cause of healthcare-associated infections. They have developed resistance to various antimicrobials previously used for the treatment of urinary tract infections (UTIs). This study was aimed to determine the prevalence of Enterococcus species among urinary tract-infected patients in a tertiary care hospital, in Karnataka, India. Material and Methods: We have analyzed 4341 culture-positive urine samples received by microbiology laboratory during the year 2021. The bacterial identification was done by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry. The antibiotic sensitivity was tested by automated VITEK-2® COMPACT (bioMérieux) system. Results: …

The Contrast In Music Aesthetics Prior To The Romantic Era And Its Impact On Music Education, Sophia Grace Moon
The Contrast In Music Aesthetics Prior To The Romantic Era And Its Impact On Music Education, Sophia Grace Moon
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
This qualitative study explores the approach to music education prior to the Romantic period. Prior to the modern era, the aesthetics of music explored the mathematical and scientific dimensions of rhythmic and harmonic organization. The composition of music was very structured, there was a “right” approach to composing. In the era of Romanticism, some composers and critics argued that music should and could serve as a means for self-expression or the conveying of emotion. Beginning in the Romantic era composers were free to experiment with musical ideas. Traditionally accepted manners for composition had less meaning, as composers were given the …

Flowgpt: Exploring Domains, Output Modalities, And Goals Of Community-Generated Ai Chatbots, Xian Li, Yuanning Han, Di Liu, Pengcheng An, Shuo Niu
Computer Science
The advent of Generative AI and Large Language Models has not only enhanced the intelligence of interactive applications but also catalyzed the formation of communities passionate about customizing these AI capabilities. FlowGPT, an emerging platform for sharing AI prompts and use cases, exemplifies this trend, attracting many creators who develop and share chatbots with a broader community. Despite its growing popularity, there remains a significant gap in understanding the types and purposes of the AI tools created and shared by community members. In this study, we delve into FlowGPT and present our preliminary findings on the domain, output modality, and …

Imagine Lagos : Mapping History, Place, And Politics In A Nineteenth-Century African City, Ademide Adelusi-Adeluyi
Imagine Lagos : Mapping History, Place, And Politics In A Nineteenth-Century African City, Ademide Adelusi-Adeluyi
Ohio University Press Open Access Books
Written from a digital humanities perspective, this book combines historical sources, maps, and a walking cartography to create new perspectives on the nineteenth-century history of Lagos, West Africa’s most populous city.
What traces do people leave in the places where they live, and even where they die? This book addresses the spatial history of nineteenth-century Lagos, rebuilding its past as a series of encounters: between men and women, between past and present, between enslaved and free, between living and dead, and finally between land and lagoon. In Imagine Lagos, Ademide Adelusi-Adeluyi argues that the invention, destruction, and reinvention of spatial …
