On Dec. 2, 1905, the first Boiling Springs High School Board of Trustees signed the school’s o!icial charter. Through their support and the dedication of other community, state and religious leaders, the school grew in size and reputation. In 1942, the institution was renamed Gardner-Webb, in recognition of its ardent supporters, former North Carolina Gov. O. Max Gardner and his wife, Faye Webb Gardner.

Moore Joseph M., The Sonata for B-flat Trumpet and Piano by Burnet Corwin Tuthill: A Guide to Performance Practice. Doctor of Musical Arts (Performance). The focus of this dissertation is the Sonata for B-flat Trumpet and Piano, op. 29 by Burnet Corwin Tuthill (1888-1982). This work explores the life of Burnet Tuthill, with principal focus on the aforementioned work. Burnet Tuthill was an influential composer in the United States during the early part of the twentieth century, composing in a variety of mediums and expanding the brass repertoire through his work with the National Association of Schools of Music. Comic books in their current form have been a staple of American pop culture for nearly a century. The combination of art and narrative provides a unique storytelling medium that has evolved with each new batch of artists and authors over the decades. The imagination's impossible and fantastical qualities are actualized in ways that non-visual literature cannot compete with, reaching audiences of all ages and reading comprehension. However, like with all fiction, the influence of reality cannot be denied. Despite the colorful costumes and progressive storylines, comic book stories suffer from a long-standing misogynistic motive that has long plagued literature. …

Mythprint is the monthly bulletin of the Mythopoeic Society, a nonprofit educational organization devoted to the study, discussion, and enjoyment of myth and fantasy literature, especially the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, and Charles Williams. To promote these interests, the Society publishes three magazines, maintains a World Wide Web site, and sponsors the annual Mythopoeic Conference and awards for fiction and scholarship, as well as local and written discussion groups.
