Introduction Pediatric surgical procedures can be highly stressful for children and their parents due to factors such as limited understanding, lack of control, and anxiety. The study aims to assess the informational needs of parents of children scheduled to undergo day care surgery in Makkah City, Saudi Arabia. Methodology A cross-sectional study was conducted over six months. The study included parents or caregivers of children scheduled for day care surgery in Makkah City, Saudi Arabia.A convenient sampling techniques was used for participant selection. Kembang setaman is a traditional floral arrangement used in various Javanese cultural practices and carries symbolic meanings associated with human life. This research and artistic creation aims to reinterpret the symbolism of kembang setaman through contemporary painting and explore its potential as a source of visual ideas for representing the human life journey. The creative process adapted Alma M. Hawkins’ method, comprising exploration, improvisation, and realization. Exploration involved literature and visual studies as well as reflection on personal experience; improvisation involved sketch development and artistic experimentation; and realization employed acrylic paint on canvas. The Bondi Beach tragedy of December 14, 2025 profoundly disrupted Australia's collective sense of safety, belonging, and trust. Beyond the immediate loss of life and injury, such events exert lasting impacts on healthcare systems and the people who work within them. Fundamental Qur'anic themes, including monotheism (tawhid), revelation and prophethood, the afterlife, justice, and knowledge, serve as the primary source of inspiration for the creation of contemporary Islamic calligraphic paintings. The rapid development of modernization and secularization has reduced the representation of Qur'anic spiritual values in contemporary society, creating the need for a visual medium capable of communicating these values through symbolic, reflective, and aesthetic expressions. Family-themed films can represent different parenting styles through communication, behavior, and parent–child relationships. This study aims to analyze the representation of parenting styles in the film Home Sweet Loan. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, using dialogue, characters’ actions and expressions, and contextual elements of parent–child interactions as data. The data were collected through repeated viewing and systematic note-taking and were subsequently coded and deductively categorized according to authoritative, authoritarian, permissive, and neglectful parenting characteristics. The findings reveal three predominant parenting tendencies. This study examines the strategies employed by Mekkas Laras Art Studio to preserve karawitan music in Pamekasan Regency and identifies the challenges and adaptive responses involved. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving the studio's management, instructors, and participants. Data were analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings reveal three interrelated processes of karawitan preservation: perception, appreciation, and creation. Perception introduces participants to karawitan and facilitates enculturation through direct engagement; appreciation fosters recognition of its cultural values and functions; and creation provides space for innovation and …

This art creation study explores and transforms the characters of the Pandawa Five into the visual language of batik painting through figures, gestures, attributes, motifs, colors, and composition. The creative process employed Gustami’s method, comprising exploration, design, and realization. Exploration involved examining the characters of the Pandawa, observing batik paintings, interviewing practitioners, and experimenting with colors, followed by the development of alternative designs and their realization using canting and brush-coloring techniques with Remazol dyes. Bullying in educational settings is a social issue that not only affects victims but also generates diverse public responses on social media. This study examines the linguistic forms and pragmatic functions used by netizens in responding to a bullying case at MTs Al Khairaat Sindue through comments on the TikTok account @Inews.com. A descriptive qualitative approach employing qualitative content analysis was used. The data comprised 12 high-engagement comments purposively selected from approximately 23,000 comments on the relevant post. Cover artwork in digital music functions not only as a visual identity but also as a representational medium that constructs meaning through symbols, colors, and composition. This study examines the visual representation of Paroots’ “Revolusi Mental” cover artwork, created by Garis Edelweiss, using Roland Barthes’ semiotics and Stuart Hall’s theory of representation. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, drawing on the visual artwork and in-depth interviews with Garis Edelweiss and five members of Paroots. This reflective-practice study examines how kapwa and pakikipagkapwa emerged through translation, rehearsal, staging, and reception in three Philippine productions of Samuel Beckett: Endgame (2016), Happy Days (2019), and the devised classroom piece Beckett, Godot & Us Waiting (2023). Using comparative production analysis and a dialogical co-performance orientation drawn from Dwight Conquergood, I analyze rehearsal exercises, adaptation notes, production materials, staging decisions, and remembered performer-audience encounters. This thesis analyzes the scenic rationale of Baby Love, highlighting its poetic stage language and metaphoric choices. Referencing Artaud, it investigates how scenery challenges conventional theatre and demonstrates the feasibility of Afro-futurist aesthetics within the Theatre of Cruelty. The approach prioritizes sensory communication, following Artaud’s emphasis on stage techniques.

Referring to the influence of Artaud’s intense artistic milieu, which contributed to the crystallization of the concept of Cruelty, and identifying methodologies used in developing my design metaphor.

This thesis explores the line between comedy and horror in an increasingly postmodern world through the cinema of John Landis and Woody Allen. Chapter One explores the theoretical and historical material that link Landis and Allen, namely in their dealing with (1) Edgar Allan Poe’s effect, (2) Julia Kristeva and Judith Butler’s abject, (3) Sigmund Freud’s “uncanny,” and (4) Mikhail Baktin’s carnivalesque. The chapter will conclude with John Landis’ portions of The Twilight Zone: The Movie, as a linked history that welcomes exploration of Landis alongside Allen. Ephemeral To Empowered? International Comparison Of Women’S Participation In Web Series Production, 2012–2019, Nicola Evans, Marion Mccutcheon, Emilia King, Joel Bassaget, Steinar Ellingsen

Women are significantly underrepresented in above-the-line roles in film and television, but anecdotal evidence suggests they are gravitating to web series. To explore this, the authors built the largest known international archive of web series released during 2012–2019 and analysed women’s participation. In the top five web series producing countries in the West, women achieved or approached parity with men in producing, directing and writing, but not cinematography. Do achievements in low-budget, transitory media count for anything? Drawing on ephemeral media scholarship, we discuss the potential of such forms to disturb entrenched patterns of gender discrimination in screen industries worldwide.

Chad Hartigan’s science fiction romantic drama Little Fish was released in 2020, soon after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the disease plaguing communities in Little Fish is not affecting people’s bodies but their minds—those who have contracted Neuroinflammatory Affliction (NIA) are losing their memories. The story centres upon the experiences of one young couple as they anxiously witness the disease take hold of their community, loved ones, and eventually one another. The film explores relationships between memory and identity, and poses questions about the ways these processes interact with those of love and loss. Who are we once …

This study utilized a qualitative meta-analysis approach to determine commonalities in students who have experienced peer victimization due to their participation in a performing arts program. Accounts of peer victimization of performing arts students were gathered across multiple qualitative and mixed methods studies. These accounts were systematically analyzed, data were assigned codes, and sorted into metacategories. From those metacategories, common themes were created, including: 1) The performing arts are not cool, 2) The performing arts are for women, 3) The performing arts are gay, 4) Black artists receive backlash.
