Multikultura

The Glass Finds From ‘En Marzev (Hebrew, Pp. 83*–98*; English, P. 117), Ayala Lester

'Atiqot

The glass finds from ‘En Marzev, mostly free-blown, were found alongside pottery, steatite vessels, coins and metal artifacts dating to the seventh–eighth centuries CE. The assemblage comprises bowls, bottles, oil lamps, a wineglass and several windowpane fragments. Also found were remains pointing to a local glass production: glass slags; fragments of the walls of a glass furnace; and two fragments of distorted vessels. The glass vessels date from the late Byzantine period, around 650 CE, to the first decades of the Abbasid period, c. 750–780 CE.

Fragments Within Fragments: The Collective Negotiation Of Exquisite Corpse Drawings, Defry Agatha Ardianta, Yandi Andri Yatmo, Paramita Atmodiwirjo Jan 2025

Fragments Within Fragments: The Collective Negotiation Of Exquisite Corpse Drawings, Defry Agatha Ardianta, Yandi Andri Yatmo, Paramita Atmodiwirjo

Interiority

This paper argues for the critical role of collective drawings as a form of representation that highlights the open process. The open process of collective drawing involves actions performed by multiple actors and actions that are not limited to producing drawings together but also require the expression of ideas. Collective drawing encourages negotiations among fragments of the drawing, which opens up various possibilities of representations within the interiority discourse. Exquisite corpse drawings made by Surrealist artists occupy an influential position as drawings produced via an open process regulated by the internal mechanism, manifesting as a continuous act of drawing. This …

Decrypting Interiority Of Albert Camus' The Stranger Through Absurdist Architectural Symbolism, Peter Akongfeh Agwu, Angela A. Ajimase, Edward Ugbada Adie, John Ogidi Acha Jan 2025

Decrypting Interiority Of Albert Camus' The Stranger Through Absurdist Architectural Symbolism, Peter Akongfeh Agwu, Angela A. Ajimase, Edward Ugbada Adie, John Ogidi Acha

Interiority

Since its publication in 1942, Camus' The Stranger (L'Étranger in French) has captivated readers and scholars alike, sparking a wealth of critical analysis and interpretation. However, the novel's minimalist descriptions of interior spaces have often been overlooked in academic discourses, making it a perennial subject of further scholarly inquiry. This study seeks to decrypt the interiority of this text by examining the absurdist architectural symbolism and dissecting the spatial elements embedded in its narrative. The aim is to unveil new layers of meaning in the protagonist's internal psyche and existential condition. Through close reading and thematic analysis of relevant passages, …

Disrupting Creativity: Copyright Law In The Age Of Generative Artifical Intelligence, Ryan Abbott, Elizabeth Rothman Jan 2025

Disrupting Creativity: Copyright Law In The Age Of Generative Artifical Intelligence, Ryan Abbott, Elizabeth Rothman

Florida Law Review

Over the last few years, due largely to breakthroughs in deep learning technologies, artificial intelligence (AI) has begun to step into the shoes of human content generators and make valuable creative works at scale. Before the end of the decade, a significant amount of art, literature, music, software, and web content will likely be created by AI rather than traditional human authors. Yet the law lags behind this technological evolution by prohibiting copyright protection for AI-generated works. The predominant narrative holds that even if AI can automate creativity, this activity is not the right sort of thing to protect, and …

Book Review Of Voices Of A New Generation, Vanna Nauk Jan 2025

Book Review Of Voices Of A New Generation, Vanna Nauk

Journal of Southeast Asian American Education and Advancement

The book offers an ample narrative archive that can serve as a source for scholarly inquiry, especially for scholars interested in Fine Arts, Contemporary Music, Fashion Design, Culinary Arts, and Film and Theatre Arts. The book can also serve as a resource for K12 social science teachers interested in personal narratives to supplement course lessons. However, as a college professor of Ethnic Studies, I would advise the book to be used in conjunction with scholarship on deviant and model minority myths. After all, affective stories without theory and context can change hearts, but they do not offer abstract tools for …

Performance Methodologies In Suicide Prevention Research: Queerness, Colonization, And Co-Performative Witnessing In Indigenous Community, Antonia R. G. Alvarez Jan 2025

Performance Methodologies In Suicide Prevention Research: Queerness, Colonization, And Co-Performative Witnessing In Indigenous Community, Antonia R. G. Alvarez

School of Social Work Faculty Publications and Presentations

Performance methodologies take many forms—performative writing, poetic transcription, and co-performative witnessing, to name only a few—and can be both process and product, differentiating and unifying a group between and across differences. As a social work researcher committed to decolonial, liberatory methodologies that make and bring meaning to the communities I work with, performance methodologies fill a gap that other qualitative research methods can only begin to approach. This project is an exploration in performance methodologies and Critical Suicidology through the lens of social work research, with a case study derived from a performance documenting suicide prevention research with Native Hawaiians. …
