Artifacts As Ambassadors: Sharing Special Collections Through Collaboration With Student Curators, Carolyn Sautter

All Musselman Library Staff Works

Special Collections and College Archives at Musselman Library, Gettysburg College, regularly collaborates with various academic departments to conduct class visits utilizing the primary sources in Special Collections Reading Room. In the last two years, some of these opportunity have grown into semester long student curation experiences both inside Special Collections and in collaboration with Schmucker Art Gallery at Gettysburg College.

The exhibits discussed included:

University Presentation Showcase Event

This poster examines a preliminary approach to space design developed and implemented in Eastern Kentucky University’s Noel Studio for Academic Creativity. The approach discussed here is entitled “Hot Spots,” which has allowed the research team to observe trends in space usage and composing activities among students. The Hot Spots approach has yielded valuable insights into the design of flexible learning spaces that provide a point of reflection for the future.

The Gardner-Webb University Theatre Department will present “The Music Man” March 26-28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Dover Theatre, located inside the Lutz-Yelton Convocation Center (LYCC). Tickets are $14 for adults, $9 for senior adults and students of other schools, $4 for GWU faculty and staff and children under 12, and free for GWU students. Set in 1912, “The Music Man” follows a con man trying to start a boys’ band in River City, Iowa, under the pretense that he is a professor of music.

Defensive Publications Series

An audio and video playback synchronization system can be used to synchronize an audio and a video of a content playing on separate devices. The devices fetch the audio and/or video content independently. The playback synchronization can be implemented via two separate embodiments. In a first embodiment, the system synchronizes a video of a content playing on a first device with audio of the same content playing on a second device. The system detects, at the first device playing video of the content, the audio of the content from the second device. The system then compares the audio detected from …
