This is an auto-ethnographic article in which the author reflects on her research in art and law, the legal academic culture, and the ways in which her art practice (painting and photography) informs her teaching pedagogy. The author uses theoretical works of scholars like Paulo Friere and bell hooks as foundational texts to address how an emotional and care-based approach to teaching can be developed through engagement with art in law classrooms. This theory is substantiated with anecdotes from the author's experience of teaching electives on art and law and core courses like Criminal Law and Intellectual Property Rights. By …

Effective doctor communication is an important determinant of patient satisfaction in inpatient units. The Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey measures patient satisfaction and influences reimbursement rates under the Hospital Value-Based Purchasing Program. The purpose of this retrospective quasi-experimental quantitative study was to examine the possible relationship between doctor communication and patient satisfaction in inpatient units in California. The Donabedian framework provided the theoretical framework to examine possible relationships between the variables. Publicly available data were collected from 290 hospitals in California that participated in the HCAHPS survey between July 2022 and June 2023. Results of …

Film production environments demand predictable, stable, and high-fidelity audio capture. Traditional approaches rely on dedicated hardware recorders, wired lavalier systems, and separate RF microphone setups. However, the rapid improvement of mobile processors and modern Bluetooth audio systems has opened new opportunities for filmmakers seeking compact recording workflows.

This paper examines the engineering and production techniques developed in 2025 while building mobile recording systems capable of delivering consistent, clean audio for filmmaking. The analysis focuses on system design, workflow ergonomics, and reliability under field conditions.

Staff speaking up about patient safety concerns is crucial to improving care and learning from mistakes. Poor management responses to speaking up can result in missed opportunities to prevent harm and hinder staff learning. This scoping review explored the literature on managers' responses to staff-raised patient safety concerns in the NHS, identifying key factors that influence these responses and suggesting strategies for improvement. Arksey and O'Malley's five-stage framework was used to systematically analyse studies from databases such as MEDLINE, PubMed, EMBASE, APA PsycINFO and CINAHL. The review included 25 studies published between 2005 and 2023. Eleven identified studies were based …

The goals were to help UK Libraries better understand how the cost of course materials affects students at UK and to provide a snapshot of student spending across the university. This self-study contributes to the field of art education by examining the tensions and possibilities within Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) through an arts-based lens. Framed as both a love letter and a palimpsestic work, this thesis reimagines professional development as a layered, living practice, rooted in collective care and criticality. Using collage as both method and metaphor, the study interweaves Freire’s dialogic praxis, bell hooks’ radical tenderness, and the marginalia of a weathered PLC handbook—redacted, annotated, and reassembled with lived experience. This study examines how multi-modal communication strategies enhance the adoption of gender-responsive pedagogy (GRP) in teacher training colleges across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. Implemented under the Foundations for Learning (F4L) project by the Aga Khan University-Institute for Educational Development, East Africa, the intervention aimed to equip college teacher educators with knowledge, attitudes, and practical tools to promote inclusive and equitable teaching. The Corfu Philharmonic Society band was founded in 1840 and is still active today. It is considered the one of the oldest continuously operating music education organizations in Greece. The people, repertoire, and instrumentation of this band influenced all other wind bands in Greece. There are important resources available on the topic, but dedicated research to the organization is in its infancy. Focusing on the changes in instrumentation through original manuscripts from the inaugural band (1840) through the end of the First World War reveals significant multinational influences that continue to be felt to this day. Accessing healthcare is a pivotal aspect of refugees' integration into their host countries and significantly impacts their long-term health outcomes. The literature emphasizes the critical role of language proficiency in overcoming communication barriers within healthcare settings. This thesis, however, challenges the assumption that addressing language barriers alone is universally sufficient. It argues that the importance of language solutions is context-dependent, varying with the design of healthcare systems and the diverse needs and backgrounds of refugees. Background: Chronic illness affects children’s health and disrupts the spatial and temporal aspects of schooling by complicating attendance, interrupting learning routines, and exposing institutional rigidity. While many educational systems treat chronicity as an exception to be managed, this review reconceptualizes it as a pedagogical and symbolic challenge to normative assumptions about inclusion, care, and participation. This project focuses on interdisciplinary genre blending, and how embedding oneself into a particular cultural perspective can serve to create more authentic film narratives. Research into established film genre and stand-up comedy conventions provided a starting point from which to explore how insights from the Brisbane stand-up comedy scene could be utilised to inform the creation of a dramatic screenplay.

There is a shortage of research exploring case clearance of anti-transgender bias homicides. This study will comparatively examine the similarities and differences in anti-transgender bias homicide cases with and without arrests at the victim, situational and incident levels occurring in the United States between 2013 and 2023. Data are extracted from the Bias Homicide Database (BHDB), the National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs (NCAVP), and the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). The Alumni UK network offers a unique opportunity to understand the perceptions, behaviours and influence of international alumni of a UK education. This report interrogates the second round of the British Council’s Alumni Voices longitudinal study data conducted online between November 2024 and January 2025. In total there were 3,094 participants in the survey from 123 countries. 892 of these were the same respondents from Round 1 (this same survey being administered in 2023–2024). The body of lyric diction literature, particularly on Italian, has grown substantially in the second half of the twentieth century. Lyric diction courses are now a required part of many voice programs across the United States. The widespread use of International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) transcriptions and transcription rules has significantly contributed to the field. However, relatively few sources focus on the pedagogical strategies needed to teach and modify Italian consonants effectively.
