A Collaborative, Trilateral Approach To Bridging The Information Literacy Gap In Student Writing, Trenia Napier, Jill M. Parrott, Erin Presley, Leslie A. Valley

As localized assessments confirm national findings that undergraduates struggle to integrate resources into research-based compositions effectively, data at one comprehensive public university indicate library sessions improve students’ ability to locate and evaluate information, but students continue to struggle with the “use” component of information literacy. This article presents a trilateral case study among librarians, faculty, and writing center administrators, emphasizing the intersection of programmatic partnerships, assessment, and pedagogical best practices. Our research shows a trilateral approach to information literacy increases efficacy and a sense of shared responsibility in support of student research where traditional bilateral approaches fall short.

I am exploring the themes of religion, foreignness, and queerness through writing and performing a solo show about a girl’s journey to become a saint in 17th century Romania. Sfânta (Holy One) is a solo show set in Vărzăreşti, Moldova in a 17th century convent. The show follows the story of Teodora, a novitiate who wants to become a Saint not so much for the enlightenment as for the fame and recognition. Teodora's path to sainthood is blocked by Gheorghe, who is undeniably a bro and unfortunately her betrothed, a budding romance with shepherdess Iosefina, and an impending Ottoman invasion. …

The Future Of Futurism: From Noise Intoners To Noise Taction, Diana Tosca

In the early 20th century, Italian Futurists became interested in expanding the definition of music to include sounds previously considered non-musical--sounds often described as 'noise.' The intonarumori (noise intoners) was a family of instruments created by the Futurist artist Luigi Russolo, which allows for the player to control the pitch and sound of the these noises. This thesis gives background on the history of Futurism and its relationship to music, analyzes noise in a Futurist context, and describes the recreation of the intonarumori, dubbed the tattorumori (noise tactions), using new interactive surface technology unavailable to Russolo. This thesis is a comparative exploration of the different paradigms that Western and Chinese theatre-making and theatre-viewing are based on. In examining the paradigms of Western and Chinese theatre, various components of the theater-making and theatre-viewing experience are considered, including assumptions regarding what a theatrical experience should entail, expectations shared between creators and audiences, and the prevailing methodologies of theatrical creation that are used to fulfill these expectations. John Quincy Adams (1767-1848) was the sixth president of the United States, serving from 1825-1829. He had a long career in public service, including positions such as American statesman and diplomat, ambassador to foreign nations, and United States Senator and House Representative from Massachusetts. He was the son of John Adams, the second president of the United States. Adams was a strong supporter of social reform, with some of the areas of specific interest being public education, abolition, and temperance. A number of the pamphlets in this collection represent his thoughts on these issues.

Our overarching goal was to systematically plan for the self-sustainability of The Banker’s House organization. Through the strategic planning sessions, four committees were established as well as sub-goals for reaching toward organizational self-sustainability. The four committees – Program Development, Finance & Operations, Marketing, and Quality Assurance – have own their strategic initiatives and provide an organized approach to measuring and monitoring progress. The purpose of this mixed-methods study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a Community Math Academy (summer camp) in a southeastern school district in an effort to prevent the summer learning loss often experienced by students. The study intended to provide the Community Math Academy staff insight into the nature of the site, to assess the success of the 3-week implementation, to observe student interaction with program lessons and materials, and to provide feedback to the funding agencies, partner organizations, project team, participants, and stakeholders.

What roles have the Latino American community had in the United States military historically and how did they impact it? How are Latinos shaping the military today? Through historical records, personal accounts, and reputable journals this study leads to the conclusion that Latino Americans regardless of the racial tensions of the past have always been ready and willing to serve for a multitude of reasons including, patriotism, educational benefits, economic advancement, and most importantly equality. Gilles Deleuze remarks that Jean Renoir’s entire œuvre displays the most fundamental operation of time, constantly holding the embodied past and the potential creation of a genuinely new future in tension. Although he fails to address Le Crime de Monsieur Lange, the film that cemented Renoir’s association with the Front populaire, Deleuze tantalisingly remarks that this dialectic stems partly from Renoir’s attitude towards the Front populaire. How Deleuze’s framework allows spectators to interpret this film as an expression of Renoir’s own ambivalence regarding the future of the Front populaire has yet to be sufficiently addressed. In this Article, I propose an approach for deciding the limits that the First Amendment’s Establishment Clause places on state and federal legislatures and courts when they create religious exemptions and there is no federal constitutional compulsion on them to do so. Although the Supreme Court’s much-anticipated decision last Term in Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission ultimately decided very little, it featured a clash of interests that make it a useful vehicle for illustrating those limits.
