Consuming Digital Technologies To Enact Identities: An Exploratory Study Among Mothers, Meera Venkatraman

Journal of Applied Marketing Theory

This manuscript explores mothers’ consumption of digital technologies to enact their individual, relational, and familial identities. Using multi-method qualitative research techniques including phenomenological interviewing, image- based auto-elicitation, and home visits, it finds mothers purposefully consume digital technologies to negotiate, construct, and enact identities. Specifically, mothers use a repertoire of four appropriation strategies: mastering, partnering, domesticating, and avoiding. Mastery is a multi- year project in which mothers enroll in digital educational programs, qualify, and create new professional identities. In domestication, mothers assert themselves on technology managing their inclusion/exclusion in the time and spaces of family life, thereby enacting parental identities. In …

We are planning to spend thirty minutes on introductions for the purpose of allowing you to identify the source of each panelist's perspectives. The Anchor: 2018

The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

This unit focuses on strategies and tactics for audience engagement and outreach, with the goal of extending the impact of publishing organizations, publication portfolios and series, or individual publications. We will discuss approaches to engage faculty and students in the campus community, the local community, and other communities of interest. We define community engagement as interaction or collaboration with a community of interest. This involves reciprocity. Outreach, on the other hand, describes activities that are provided to, intended for, or done in communities.

It is well documented that individuals in communities need and value opportunities to engage in marital education and enrichment programs. Often individuals are interested in learning strategies that will enhance their interpersonal relationships. One way in which this can be done is through educational events that focus on specific topics. This paper focuses on specific strategies and lessons learned in hosting a collaborative relationship enrichment event, Marriage Celebration, across multiple counties.

International Journal of Religious Tourism and Pilgrimage

This paper reflects our abiding interest in our origins and of those religious and pilgrimage spaces that we attest to actively being part of our cultural inheritance. It explores options for, and barriers to, the creation of a repository of information to support practitioners and the clergy to maintain and develop these religious and pilgrimage sites. A model toolkit for storing collected knowledge is presented with illustrative examples from a range of sources. The examples used are largely drawn from a Northern / Western perspective.

In an age in which the numbers of people attending churches in the UK has been falling consistently for several decades, a trend that applies across Europe and North America, there is a marked contrast in the burgeoning growth of Christian religious encounters - including church attendance - around the world, particularly in the Global South (Avis, 2007). This discussion paper explores the topic of religious tourism and pilgrimage, examining it from a tourism industry perspective, reflecting on definitions, motivations and scale of the ‘product’ as reported at a global level. Mindful of the fact that international records of religious tourism are scant to say the least, this is an attempt to bring together definitions, classifications and data which come from a variety of sources. We assume that the interior does not speak on it’s own, but must be spoken for. How do designers, curators, and guides talk interiors into existence?
