This thesis examines the role of the fight choreographer in the theatre while addressing the potential issues staged violence has in distracting an audience from the intended narrative of the play. Avoiding the instruction manual approach of stage combat in favor of expounding on the theory of violent entertainment, I have constructed a thesis that informs the reader of certain types of violence found in both classical and modern productions and have researched the psychological ramifications of violent spectatorship and the necessity for content acknowledgements as well as consideration for the performer’s well-being. Part I of this Article provides a detailed description of the origins of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). Part II describes its transformation from a sleepy trade bloc to a dynamic peace and security and human rights enforcement institution. Part III examines arguments about whether ECOWAS’s aggressive human rights enforcement is or is not legal under international law. Part IV summarizes developments in West Africa after ECOWAS created its robust peace and security and human rights enforcement architecture, concluding that, until the recent crisis in the Sahel States, it has been extremely effective despite the scant resources. …

Introduction and importance: Propeller perforator flaps provide a reliable reconstructive option for distal lower-limb soft-tissue defects, particularly in resource-limited settings where microsurgical free-flap reconstruction may not be readily available. These cases highlight the practical application of propeller perforator flaps in a low-resource setting, demonstrate key surgical decision-making processes, illustrate the management of flap-related complications, and report favorable functional outcomes following reconstruction of complex distal lower-limb wounds.

The Witch Hunt exhibition conjures a powerful dialogue between history, identity, and empowerment, bringing together sixteen international artists to channel the spirit of the witch. This show traces a vast genealogy of women—from the 15th century witch hunts to Californian artistic legacies of the 1970s, to the exhibitions opening in 2021, and into present day. The current study evaluated the analgesic efficacy of dexmedetomidine versus clonidine as adjuvants to 0.2% ropivacaine in ultrasound-guided adductor canal block. Effective postoperative pain management is essential for early mobilization and improved recovery following arthroscopic knee surgeries. Sixty ASA I–II patients aged 20–60 years undergoing elective arthroscopic knee procedures were randomized into two groups: Group D received ropivacaine 0.2% 30ml with dexmedetomidine 100 mcg, and Group C received ropivacaine 0.2% 30ml with clonidine 150 mcg. Duration of analgesia, pain scores, sedation levels, hemodynamic changes, and rescue analgesic requirements were recorded. Group D demonstrated significantly prolonged analgesia (18.08 ± 0.514 h) …

This thesis qualifies and documents a new genre of interdisciplinary, interactive theatre called Dodgeballs and Dragons. It covers a brief history of Dungeons and Dragons and Theatre of the Oppressed (the two foundational works for the new genre) as well as previous uses of D&D as a form of theatrical entertainment. After establishing the precedence used to create this product, the rest of the thesis breaks down how to write, lead, and play these shows on a regular basis. The document culminates in collected data providing concrete evidence for the future of the form and its many applications.

This article examines copyright eligibility for works that incorporate generative AI elements under United States law, explaining that such works may be protected only to the extent they contain human-authored expression.  This expression can appear as creative selection, arrangement, editing, or other expressive contributions, while unedited or autonomously generated AI output is not copyrightable. The article highlights how the U.S. Copyright Office’s registration and review system, through disclosure requirements, refusals, and public registration records, creates meaningful evidence about boundaries of copyright protection for AI-assisted works. For our final project, we were asked to create or rewrite a fairy tale with a contemporary teenage audience in mind. We had to include gender studies, feminist theory or an approved theory of our own in our work. I chose to rewrite the fairy tale Snow White expanding on the religious themes included in the original work, for a darker, more gruesome tale that teenagers might enjoy. Marcus Garvey, social activist and founder of the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA) in the early twentieth century, has been widely studied for his Pan-African approach to the social upliftment of Black communities during a period marked by segregation and systemic injustice. His messages of empowerment attracted global attention and supported the growth of a movement that reached more than one million members worldwide. While Garvey and the UNIA have been examined from historical, political, and cultural perspectives, they have not been systematically studied through the lens of information and communication behavior. Controversial histories, such as the Troubles in Northern Ireland, are often excluded from formal education, forming a "null curriculum" due to their political sensitivity, emotional difficulty, and risk of bias or re-traumatising students. To address this, Historically-Structured Boardgames (HSBGs) offer an innovative pedagogical approach, engaging students cognitively and emotionally while navigating sensitive historical terrain.

HSBGs like "The Troubles: Shadow War in Northern Ireland 1964-1998" embed players within historically accurate socio-political and economic structures, emphasising player agency and the consequences of their actions. This thesis examines the role of ideas of interservice co-operation in the operations of Plymouth Naval Command during the Second World War. The importance of naval shore commands has been a significant omission from studies of the war at sea. Located at strategic points around Britain, they were vital in controlling the flow of convoy shipping, while also co-ordinating attacks against enemy surface forces and submarines. This was achieved using a marriage of air and sea power between the Royal Navy and Coastal Command, a relationship that was developed during the 1920s and 1930s. Using Plymouth Command as an entry …

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly intruding into many professions, from publishing and healthcare to engineering, graphic design, and the law. Law firms are adopting AI for discovery, factual summaries, and briefing. Many courts are embracing AI to streamline docket management and filings. Even some judges are experimenting with AI. This article describes an experiment with the use of an AI Judge to decide both an expert witness issue embedded in a South Dakota Supreme Court appeal and a South Dakota Circuit Court legal malpractice issue. According to Fredric Jameson’s Postmodernism, or, The Cultural Logic of Late Capitalism (1991), postmodern culture functions as an expression of the logic of late capitalism, manifesting in stylistic pastiche, the dominance of spectacle, a waning of historical consciousness, and a corresponding erosion of affect. Central to Jameson’s critique is the contention that postmodernism forecloses the possibility of imagining alternatives to capitalism. This article argues that Piersandro Pallavicini’s Il mostro di Vigevano (1999) exemplifies some of these features, and it shows how its description of immigrants to Italy as ingenuous, innocent, and simple-minded insinuates that they come from backward places …

This article explores the intersection of trust, surveillance, and political instrumentalization in authoritarian and hybrid warfare contexts, drawing on interviews with four contemporary witnesses from the Cold War era: Paul Mojzes, Laurens Hogebrink, Renate Ellmenreich, and Markus Meckel. Their experiences—spanning communist surveillance in the GDR, ecumenical diplomacy, and Western peace activism—reveal enduring challenges for churches, activists, and scholars engaging with partners in authoritarian regimes.

This article examines Theodor Zekler’s educational and welfare institutions in Eastern Galicia from the late nineteenth to the first half of the twentieth century. It analyzes their genesis, stages of institutionalization, organizational structure, and socio-cultural role in the region. The study shows that the orphanages, schools, boarding facilities, and other charitable and educational institutions founded by Zekler combined the functions of care, education, moral and religious formation, and social integration. Particular attention is paid to the interconnection of pedagogical, confessional, and philanthropic principles in the operation of these institutions. This paper explores the concept of moral rearmament in contemporary East-Central Europe through the historical and religious legacy of Polish anti-communist opposition figure Janusz Krupski (1951–2010). Responding to sociologist Frank Furedi’s critique regarding the "moral disarmament" of the West, the author contends that religion serves as an essential—and frequently overlooked—pillar in restoring historical consciousness and moral resilience against totalitarian and geopolitical threats.
