The Grateful Dead were one of the most successful and enduring bands to come out of the original hippie counterculture of the late 1960’s. Beginning as a small, experimental blues-rock group with no desire to pursue commercial success, fame and fortune nonetheless found the Dead over the course of their three decades on the road. The crime passionnel is not formally recognized in North American law. Nevertheless, any reading of nineteenth- and early-twentieth-century southern court records and pardon files reveal that, as acts of interpersonal violence, crimes of passion "generated by thwarted love, jealousy, [and] hatred that rise to the level of obsession" were not uncommon. One such crime was perptrated by Alexander Campbell. This was the unusual case of a middle-class white man who was convicted of first-degree murder in a Florida court in 1891 and sent to the convict lease system where he remained for a considerable length of time. Aiding Semantic Memory Creation With Navigational Context, Thomas Benjamin Lyle Wasden

Theses and Dissertations

While we have traditionally understood the hippocampus to be involved in memory and navigation, it also appears that it has a role in language processing, creation and prediction. An obvious explanation for this is that language is impossible if linguistic signs cannot be remembered and retrieved. Because linguistic signs are definitionally biologically neutral or arbitrary, we must use the brain's apparatus for learning and storing information from the external world to store and retrieve them. Although plausible, this explanation fails to take into account the hippocampus' role in navigation as a contributing element in the processing, storage and retrieval of …

A society properly rooted in indigenous knowledge system can easily pave way for sustainable development. Indigenous knowledge is a local knowledge that is peculiar to a particular society. It is referred to as folk knowledge, people's knowledge, traditional science or traditional wisdom. Over time, indigenous knowledge is usually generated and transmitted by communities, in an attempt to solve their own societal challenges such as ecological and socio-economic problems. Our project is entitled Muses: Finding Women’s Voices. This creative project used museum theatre to highlight and celebrate the work of different female artists in the surrealstic art form. The International Museum Theatre Alliance defines museum theatre as “a term that has been used to refer both to the performance of theatre (i.e. a play) in or by a museum and also to the use of any of a variety of theatrical techniques by museums.” (IMTAL).
