Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: A Disease Made Invisible By Stereotypes, Isabella Tober

Undergraduate Research Symposium

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is a very complex disease that is often overshadowed by public opinion. Stereotypes within modern-day media have turned this disease into a social joke, leading individuals to suffer in silence and isolate in fear of judgment. Historically, society has allowed this invisibility to be placed upon the disease, but so has the medical industry through misdiagnosis and inaccurate treatment. The reality of OCD is very real and impactful for those living with this condition. Through proper education and exposure to the truth behind OCD, negative discourse will turn positive, ultimately allowing people to feel visible and seek proper …

Social Determinants Of Health: Beliefs About Healthcare As A Right Or A Privilege, Dianne Mcadams-Jones Sep 2026

Social Determinants Of Health: Beliefs About Healthcare As A Right Or A Privilege, Dianne Mcadams-Jones

International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)

Nursing education nationwide has integrated Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) into curricula to prepare future healthcare providers to address inequities and improve outcomes. While understanding SDoH is essential for equitable care, nurses’ own beliefs—shaped by personal experiences and environments—can influence practice behaviors and perpetuate disparities (Egede, Walker & Williams, 2024). This qualitative descriptive pilot study explored perceptions of healthcare as a right or privilege, examining how personal beliefs intersect with SDoH and bad science which ultimately impact healthcare outcomes (Bandura, 1971). Using an unstructured survey distributed via email, 110 responses were received, with 64 healthcare professionals and first responders included …

App Led-Pocus Education: Survey Findings On Barriers, Facilitators, And Adoption, Al-Zada Aguilar Sep 2026

App Led-Pocus Education: Survey Findings On Barriers, Facilitators, And Adoption, Al-Zada Aguilar

International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)

Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) offers immediate clinical insight, but turning exposure into everyday practice requires more than a single course. Over four years of APP-led, interprofessional training (2021-2025), we used the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research to understand what helped, what hindered, and what our participants needed. Findings came directly from post-course and follow-up surveys.

Facilitators. Learners consistently described progress when teaching matched how ultrasound is actually used at the bedside. Shared language, step-by-step scanning, and reviewing real cases helped them connect image acquisition to clinical decisions. Psychological safety was another major driver. Being able to ask questions, try, fail, and …

This review highlights gaps, facilitators, and opportunities for nurse-led approaches to strengthen compassionate, consistent bereavement care.

Background: In ICUs, bereavement extends beyond families to nurses who frequently experience emotional and moral distress after patient death. Despite evidence supporting structured bereavement interventions, practices remain inconsistent, culturally variable, and often lacking clear guidance for frontline nurses. A synthesis of current literature is needed to inform standardized, grief-informed practices that benefit both families and staff. …

Catatan Editor: Ai, Kesejahteraan Psikologis, Dan Masa Depan Relasi Manusia, Rahkman Ardi

Jurnal Psikologi Sosial

The Algorithmic Narcissus: Ai Validation And The Atrophy Of The 'Athletic' Social Self, Ilham Phalosa Reswara, Anggi Mayangsari

Jurnal Psikologi Sosial

Artificial intelligence systems designed around continuous affirmation and minimal friction are becoming increasingly prominent as social and relational partners in everyday life. This article examines how sustained interaction with such frictionless AI systems may reshape the developmental conditions under which social selfhood forms and is maintained. Drawing on Cooley's (1902) looking glass self, Kohut's (1971) concept of optimal frustration, and the developmental literature on social competence, the article argues that frictionless AI may distort the social mirror through which identity forms, remove the manageable frustration that appears necessary for psychological growth, weaken empathic capacity, and erode the social stakes that …

Sharing Toys, Sharing Talks, Sharing Thoughts: Siblings’ Role In Language Skills And Theory Of Mind In Children, Khansa Nabila Anjani, Ike Anggraika Kuntoro

Jurnal Psikologi Sosial

Background: Theory of mind (ToM) refers to the ability to understand one’s own and others’ mental states and is closely related to children’s prosocial behavior. Previous research has linked ToM to language skills and sibling factors; however, findings remain inconsistent. Siblings may function as early social partners who support language use and social–cognitive development, thereby influencing ToM. This study examined whether sibling presence moderates the relationship between language skills and ToM in children. Methods: Participants were 117 children aged 4–7 years from the Jabodetabek area, recruited using convenience sampling. A simple moderation analysis with bootstrapping was conducted. Results …

Jurnal Hukum & Pembangunan

One aspect of evaluating the Constitutional Court, which has been in existence since 2003, is the issue of ethical compliance. Although a code of ethics for constitutional judges currently exists, it applies only to sitting constitutional judges. In reality, however, many former constitutional judges frequently act as parties in cases heard by the Constitutional Court. The author found that there are still former Constitutional Court judges who have served as parties—either as principals or as legal representatives. Although there is no explicit prohibition, the involvement of former constitutional judges in case proceedings raises the potential for conflicts of interest and …

Generative Artificial Intelligence, Academic Integrity And Authentic Assessment Within An Irish University, Louise Nagle, Brigid Crowley, Laura Rafferty, Susan Horgan, Colin O'Brien

Publications

Academics need both an overarching policy on Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI) use in teaching and learning, yet agency in its application across various disciplines. Clarity on the use of the technology for both students and staff is therefore a challenge and characterised by uncertainty given how its application is still unfamiliar. This research examines the organisational context in which Gen AI is being embraced and was conducted by the digital teaching support functions within an Irish university. Students and staff were surveyed (n=1,746) on various aspects of digital use within their education and workplace, including Gen AI. …
