Assessing The Impact Of Informal Sector Employment On Young Less-Educated Workers, Javier Cano-Urbina, John Gibson Jan 2024

Assessing The Impact Of Informal Sector Employment On Young Less-Educated Workers, Javier Cano-Urbina, John Gibson

Hunt Institute Working Paper Series

In this paper, we develop a search and matching model that allows for two important channels through which participation in the informal sector may benefit young less- educated workers: (i) human capital accumulation, and (ii) employer screening. We calibrate our model using the ENOE, a Mexican household survey on income and labor dynamics. Using our calibrated model, we shed light on many unobservable characteristics of the Mexican labor market for young less-educated workers, most notably the di↵ering hiring standards for informal and formal jobs. Specifically, hiring standards for these workers are found to be substantially higher for formal versus informal …

Artistic Interactions Between Byzantine And Arab Muslims: From The Perspective Of Western Scholars, Maen M. Omoush

Information Sciences Letters

The Mediterranean region has long been an area of interaction between the two great powers, Arab Muslims, and Byzantine Christians. This relationship began in the 7th century AD and continued through to the 12th century. Although Islam became an increasingly powerful force during this period, these interactions were not always hostile; rather there was significant cultural exchange between both sides in areas such as art and architecture. These exchanges helped foster mutual understanding, which ultimately led to peaceful coexistence throughout much of this period despite their differences. This research aims to clarify the communication between arts of the Byzantine and …

A Proposed Model For Accounting Valuation Of Intangibles In The Digital Platform-Based Sharing Economy, Raghda Abdellatif Abdelkhalik Elsayed

Information Sciences Letters

This study proposes a valuation model of the intangible assets/ intellectual capital (IA/IC) in digital platform-based sharing economy companies to prepare effective accounting and management reporting in a company. The study model is based on distinguishing between the increase in net assets that is due to changes in price levels and those that are due to the existence of intangibles of the company. This study develops a model for the valuation of intangibles using the organizational context of digital platform-based sharing economy companies. An empirical study was conducted on Uber Technologies, Inc. The results allow a comparison of the situation …

Hydromagnetic Stability Of A Self-Gravitating Oscillating Fluid Cylinder, S. S. Elazab, A. A. Hasan, Z. M. Ismail, G. H. Zidan

Information Sciences Letters

The hydro-magnetic stability of a self-gravitating oscillating medium with streams of variable velocities for fluid cylinder has been defined and investigated. The streaming is unstable, but the magnetic field has a significant stabilizing effect. Under certain conditions, the rotating forces have a stabilizing effect. Using suitable and specific conditionsto distinguish between stable and unstable domains, the stability criterion is derived and investigated numerically and analytically. The effects of inertial self-gravity, and electromagnetic forces on the stability of a fluid cylinder are studied. All basic functions and equations have been solved after defining the problem.

Electrohydrodynamic Stability Of Self-Gravitating Fluid Cylinder, S. S. Elazab, A. A. Hasan

Information Sciences Letters

Electrohydrodynamic Stability consists of a fluid cylinder with self-gravitation A self-gravitating tenuous medium surrounds it. that is permeated by a transversely variable electric field while being affected by self-gravitating forces, Capillary, and Electrical Forces is covered across all axisymmetric and (non)axisymmetric perturbation types. The problem is solved and all individual solutions are excluded. The model stabilizes as a result of continuous Electric field stability in all perturbation modes. In a narrow area of the axisymmetric perturbation. It has been established that self-gravitating and capillary forces have a destabilizing effect. However, the present model instability is improved and modified by self-gravitating …
