The History Of Protectionism And Free Trade In The World: How Does It Impact Indonesia?, Dorothea Bening Larasati Jun 2025

The History Of Protectionism And Free Trade In The World: How Does It Impact Indonesia?, Dorothea Bening Larasati

Jurnal Vokasi Indonesia

International trade plays an important role in Indonesia's economy, with protectionism and free trade being the two main approaches in the country's trade policy. Protectionism, which aims to protect domestic industries by restricting imports, is often challenged in the face of the need to integrate global markets. In contrast, free trade seeks to open markets without barriers, which can accelerate economic growth and improve international relations. This research aims to explore the impact of protectionism and free trade policies on the Indonesian economy and provide recommendations for the government. The research uses a qualitative approach through a literature study that …

Jurnal Vokasi Indonesia

Indonesia has implemented the Individual Learning Account system under the name Kartu Prakerja, or Pre-Employment Card, to support workforce development. This study examines its effectiveness by comparing it with South Korea’s Naeil Baeum Card (Tomorrow Learning Card). Despite its role in improving skills, Indonesia’s Individual Learning Account system faces challenges in funding sustainability, eligibility control, participant engagement, and training relevance. Additionally, financial support is provided at a fixed amount, regardless of training type. Using comparative policy and fishbone analysis, this study identifies key differences and best practices from South Korea. The findings highlight that South Korea’s co-funding model, employer …

Victimization In The Grain Tower: A Study Of The Effect Of Community Perceptions On Victimization Risk And Perceived Wellness In A Rural Environment, Morgan Steele, April Terry, Ziwei Qi, Troy Terry, Tamara Lynn

Criminal Justice Faculty Publications

Social science research has studied the role of neighborhood order in explaining perceptions of crime and official crime statistics for decades. When citizens perceive their neighborhood to be socially and/or physically disordered, community and interpersonal relationships diminish, mistrust increases, including negative perceptions of police legitimacy, and overall individual wellness decreases. However, little is known about these interactions within a college population—neighborhoods referred to as “studentification” and described as “student ghettos.” Using an online survey distributed to all students, faculty, and staff of a midwestern rural university, we sought to better understand the university population’s perceptions regarding social disorder, police legitimacy, …

No. 43: Migration, Food Insecurity And Angolan Migrants In Namibia, Lawrence N. Kazembe, Ndeyapo Nickanor, Godfrey Tawodzera

Migration and Food Security (MiFOOD) Network

This study examines the food security challenges faced by Angolan migrants in Namibia, focusing on the interplay between migration, livelihoods, and food insecurity. Drawing on survey data from households in Northern towns and the capital city of Namibia, the research reveals high levels of food insecurity among Angolan migrants, characterized by limited dietary diversity and a reliance on coping strategies such as consuming less preferred foods and reducing meal portions. The findings highlight the marginalization of migrants, who primarily work in the informal sector with low incomes, exacerbating their vulnerability. The COVID-19 pandemic further worsened food insecurity by disrupting livelihoods …

Nature-Based Solutions For Urban Stormwater Management, Nima Zafarmomen, Vidya Samadi, Susan Lunt Jun 2025

Nature-Based Solutions For Urban Stormwater Management, Nima Zafarmomen, Vidya Samadi, Susan Lunt

Forestry and Natural Resources

This paper explores Nature-based Solutions (NbS) for urban stormwater management, emphasizing their role in mitigating runoff, reducing flood risks, and improving water quality. Bioretention systems (BRS), green roofs, permeable pavements, and vegetated swales utilize natural processes such as infiltration, evapotranspiration, and filtration to manage stormwater while promoting urban resilience and supporting biodiversity effectively. The performance of these solutions depends on vegetation, soil, and climatic parameters, highlighting the need for context-specific design and implementation. While NbS present sustainable alternatives to conventional infrastructure, technical, economic, social, and institutional challenges require interdisciplinary collaboration and supportive policies to unlock their full potential.

Property Clause Power Play: The Blm's Conservation Rule And Loper Bright, Meridian S. Wappett, Sandra B. Zellmer

Public Land & Resources Law Review

This article examines the implications of Loper Bright on public land management through rulemaking. Part II provides a comprehensive overview of the case, its holding, and its potential ramifications. Part III delves into the history of the Administrative Procedure Act (“APA”), to illuminate the evolution and underlying rationale for agency deference. Part IV analyzes the constitutional framework underpinning the BLM’s statutory authority, rooted primarily in the Property Clause, which delegates the task of making “needful” rules governing public lands to Congress and to federal land management agencies. Finally, Part V argues that the Rule is valid, whether a reviewing court …

Occupational Noise Exposure In Mechanical And Maintenance Workshops In A Food Industry: Case Study, Hassan Kamalaldein Felemban, Ahmed Saleh Summan, Radhouane Chakroun

Journal of King Abdulaziz University: Meteorology, Environment and Arid Land Agriculture

Occupational noise exposure in industrial environments presents considerable hazards to workers' health and welfare. This case study analyzes the noise levels in the Maintenance & Workshop units of a small-scale food industry in Saudi Arabia, and assesses the related health impacts. The research indicates that noise levels are often above the advised safety limits, with several locations recording measures over 85 dBA, hence increasing the risk of Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL), cardiovascular complications, and psychological distress. Survey data indicates that around 32% of employees claimed that they suffer from hearing impairment, while a considerable number claimed cardiovascular and mental health …

Coastline Change Detection Using Sentinel 2a Data. Case Study: Marzuq Islands, Red Sea Coastal Tract, Saudia Arabia, Gar Al-Nabi Ibrahim Mohamed, Mohamed Elsobeiey

Journal of King Abdulaziz University: Engineering Sciences

Coastline is the actual line where the land meets the water and it represents an important feature in the water land intersection environment. Coastline extraction plays a significant role in monitoring the land changes that result from the continuous natural dynamic processes in general and the strong wave action in particular. This paper uses the image band combination technique for coastline extraction using satellite images. The study area of the investigation comprises two islands located at the Red Sea coastal tract (Marzuq Islands). The accuracy of the extracted coastline has been estimated as 0.9 pixels (pixel size = 10 m). …

Utilizing Theoretical And Experimental Gaseous Co2 Filling Behavior In Gas Hydrate Formation Parameters, Mohammed G.H. Haidar, Iqbal Ahmed Moujdin

Journal of King Abdulaziz University: Engineering Sciences

Gas hydrates are increasingly becoming a viable method due to their potential efficiency and minimal energy demands. The capacity to manipulate and regulate the development of these hydrates is essential for enhancing their application in practical contexts. The study employed a VINCI autoclave apparatus to experimentally investigate the CO2 filling rate necessary to attain hydration pressure with minimal temperature increase. MATLAB is used to derive theoretical gas filling equations that control the filling behavior and compare them with the results of our tests. A clear proportional link exists between filling flow rates and temperature increment within the reactor. The …
