With the Trump administration, we witnessed a hardening of border security policy and practices. Trump used his leadership and celebrity to explicitly attack and criminalize “undocumented” migrants with a discourse of threat, danger, invasion, crisis. Policywise, he took steps to further securitize the borderlands. In this paper, we examine how public opinion has differed with regards to the support or opposition to these hard security policies, especially in borderland areas when compared to the overall national population. This paper rethinks Marx and Engels’ comments on imprisonment and capitalism. While there has been a tendency to suggest the authors’ comments on crime and punishment were peripheral and secondary to their major projects, such as Marx’s Capital, this paper claims, in fact, their writings on incarceration were guided by their shared theoretical project which included historicizing systems of punishment as correlating with modes of production. Also, while more has been written on their ideas of criminality, instead, this paper excavates their thoughts on prisons, which have often been neglected. Social isolation and loneliness, which are experienced by many older adults, can negatively impact health and well-being. Although often used interchangeably, social isolation is defined as an objective lack of social ties (e.g., number of close family members or friends) and loneliness as an internal sense of disconnection (e.g., feeling alone even when surrounded by others). Because social relationships, health, and life circumstances change as we age, patterns of social isolation and loneliness may differ by age group. Therefore, this research brief asks, How do patterns of social isolation and loneliness differ across age groups among community-dwelling older adults?

Tax avoidance has attracted substantial interest from researchers, regulators, and policymakers worldwide due to its significant impact on society as a whole. However, the majority of existing research focuses on developed countries, and the results are inconsistent. Thus, this research investigates the effect of management compensation on tax avoidance as well as the moderating role of audit quality, measured by auditor specialization, in this relationship. The sample includes 352 observations from 44 Egyptian firms listed on the EGX100 for the period 2016 to 2023. Aims: Biliary strictures are a known complication of hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgeries. This retrospective descriptive series highlights six consecutive patients with complete bile duct occlusion or disruption who required a multidisciplinary approach with a combination of interventional radiology (IR) and endoscopic techniques to either re-cannulate or create a neo-anastomosis in the biliary system. Background: The ACR Diagnostic Fluoroscopy Dose Index Registry (DIR-Fluoro) is expanding to include diagnostic fluoroscopy. Variations in dose reference points and overhead radiography events may introduce unique challenges for benchmarking. Purpose: To survey the technological status and dosimetric performance of fluoroscopes participating in the DIR-Fluoro pilot project, focusing on longitudinal stability and variability of fluoroscopic dose reporting accuracy across multiple institutions and vendors. Methods: Sixty-six fluoroscopic systems from nine institutions (24 facilities) were surveyed for facility type, fluoroscope type, image receptor type, age, dose reporting capabilities, and other key features. Ethnic dissimilarity to coworkers puts individuals’ social embeddedness at work under pressure. We consider this issue from the perspective of a moderating influence of climate for inclusion in the relationship between ethnic dissimilarity and organizational embeddedness. We argue that, whereas it may seem straightforward that climate for inclusion would be associated with a weaker negative influence between ethnic dissimilarity and organizational embeddedness, team climate for inclusion is a double-edged sword. Interprofessional Education (IPE) creates opportunities for multiple disciplines to learn from each other and develop soft skills to improve patient care. One Health similarly emphasizes collaborative and interdisciplinary practice while recognizing the interconnectedness between human, animal, and environmental health. Despite the intersection of IPE and One Health, the meaningful integration of One Health within IPE remains uneven and difficult to operationalize. This perspective synthesizes experiences from multi-college programs implementing One Health-oriented IPE, highlighting successes, challenges, and structural requirements. Context: Seagrasses are key marine habitats that are increasingly degraded globally due to anthropogenic disturbances and climate change, compromising the ecosystem services they provide. While seagrass loss is often patchy, the ecological consequences of meadow fragmentation on marine fauna remains unclear. Objectives: This study (1) quantified decadal change in seagrass habitat and fragmentation of the globally important meadows of the Shark Bay World Heritage Area following the 2011 marine heatwave (MHW); and (2) assessed how meadow structure and fragmentation influence fish assemblages. Introduction: Alzheimer's disease (AD) research relies on large datasets and advanced statistical models. However, individual population studies often lack sufficient sample size for conclusive results. Harmonizing cognitive test data across studies can address this gap, despite differences in testing protocols. This study harmonizes cognitive data from three major AD cohorts to support robust clinical–pathological modelling. The growing global energy demand highlights the need for renewable sources like solar energy as a key component of sustainable systems. This study focuses on developing two hybrid nanofluids, TiNML125 and MXML125, for optimizing solar energy harvesting. These nanofluids were synthesized via a solvothermal process, combining NH₂-MIL-125 with plasmonic nanoparticles, titanium nitride (TiN) and MXene (MX). Their thermal conductivity, stability, optical properties, and photothermal efficiency were analyzed. Results showed both nanofluids significantly outperformed single-component ML125, with TiNML125 improving absorption by 40 % and enhancing thermal conductivity. In this work, the biogenic synthesis route using the leaf extract of Buxus papillosa was employed for the green synthesis of copper oxide (CuO) and nickel oxide (NiO) nanoparticles (NPs), which were then applied for the catalytic degradation of Alizarin Red S dye (ARS) as a model organic pollutant. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis confirmed spherical and rod-like morphologies for CuO and NiO NPs, respectively, while Energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) verified their elemental composition. The average crystallite sizes of CuO and NiO NPs were 6.21 and 5.94 nm, respectively, as determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), and their optical band gaps …

Network approaches to collaborative leadership suggest that local leaders’ success depends on activities that connect their organization to diverse stakeholders and resources. Drawing on the literature on managerial networking and a mixed-methods approach that includes 38 semi-structured interviews and a survey of 185 New York State municipal leaders, we explore the impact of leaders’ networking efforts on food access and security in their communities. We hypothesize that different forms of leaders’ social capital (bridging, bonding, and linking) has an impact on policy success. Carbon capture and storage (CCS) offers the potential to remove and safely store significant quantities of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, thereby limiting global warming. Conventional geological storage involves injecting CO2, in gaseous or supercritical state, into porous rock reservoirs, relying on geological top seals, capillary forces and/or dissolution in groundwater as the primary “locking-in” processes. An alternative method injects CO2-saturated water into mafic rocks (basalts), chemically inducing in-situ mineralization of CO2 to form solid carbonate minerals. This study aims to investigate the effects of different smartphone lock screen wallpapers on weekly perceived well-being, procrastination, and productivity in young adults. Through a pre-registered within-subject experiment, 60 participants were exposed to three smartphone wallpaper conditions: nature, animal, and neutral (control). Each participant experienced each condition over three weeks, with the order of conditions counterbalanced. Using Frequentist and Bayesian analyses, we did not find any differences between conditions across the pre-registered confirmatory outcomes (i.e., life satisfaction, positive affect, negative affect, stress, productivity, and procrastination). Background: Assessing bone mineral density (BMD) in children and adolescents is essential for detecting skeletal deficits and fracture risk. Peripheral quantitative computed tomography (pQCT) has gained increasing attention as a valuable imaging tool due to its ability to assess bone quality. Unlike dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry, pQCT provides volumetric BMD measurements and distinguishes between cortical and trabecular compartments. An emerging body of research suggests that the cultivation of personal resources may serve as a means to foster PSTs wellbeing, which is integral to fostering positive experiences within teacher education.
