Load Frequency Control Of Multi-Area Interconnected Power Systems Under Aperiodic Dos Attacks, Guanyu Liu, Yonghui Liu Feb 2026

Load Frequency Control Of Multi-Area Interconnected Power Systems Under Aperiodic Dos Attacks, Guanyu Liu, Yonghui Liu

Journal of Electric Power Science and Technology

Based on an event-triggered mechanism, load frequency control of multi-area interconnected power systems under aperiodic denial-of-service (DoS) attacks is studied. First, a mathematical model of the multi-area interconnected power system under aperiodic DoS attacks is established. Then, a switching state observer is designed to estimate the states during the hibernating and active periods of the aperiodic DoS attacks, respectively. To save communication resources, an event-triggered mechanism is introduced into the observer-controller channel. Moreover, based on the state observer, a feedback controller is designed. Finally, the three-area interconnected power system is taken as an example to make a simulation-based verification. The …

Timing Fault Identification Strategy For Weak Lines In Power Grid Based On Deep Reinforcement Learning, Songkai Liu, Yukun Ai, Pan Su, Yanzhang Li, Yuheng Wu, Wenpei Ding

Journal of Electric Power Science and Technology

To effectively prevent cascadin g faults of the power grid caused by line timing faults, an identification method that integrates deep reinforcement learning (DRL) and transient stability constraints is proposed. The core of this method lies in formalizing the identification task as a Markov decision process (MDP) problem, enabling the DRL agent to efficiently screen out the key fault paths that cause system instability through interactive learning with the transient simulation environment. Firstly, a vulnerability index combining Q value and timing cumulative effect is introduced, achieving precise positioning of weak lines. By combining the time-domain transient simulation calculation of the …

Research On Oscillation Suppression Of Multi-Vsg Based On Transient Inertia And Damping Optimization, Junxiang Liu, Xiangyang Xia, Yu Gong, Wangfang Xu, Shaoyu Ma, Tian Xia

Journal of Electric Power Science and Technology

The parallel operation of multiple virtual synchronous generators (VSGs) in large-scale renewable energy power stations may lead to the system's power frequency oscillation issues. To better coordinate multi-unit operation and enhance oscillation suppression, an oscillation suppression strategy optimizing transient inertia and damping is proposed. Firstly, based on a small-signal model, the oscillation mechanism and the impact of fixed parameters on stability are elucidated. Secondly, the system inertia centwe is introduced as a global coordination reference. Inertia and damping characteristics are optimized based on each VSG's frequency deviation from the inertia center and its rate of change. This accelerates transient energy …

Thyristor-Based Hybrid Dc Circuit Breaker With Low-Amplitude Oscillation Current And Reclosing Detection Function, Fangjie Gou, Zhongfei Wang, Dong Qiu, Jiang Zhang, Hongwei Shu, Wenqin He, Zhuangxi Tan

Journal of Electric Power Science and Technology

The thyristor-based hybrid DC circuit breaker (THDCB) pre-charges the capacitor through the DC system and adopts LC oscillation to assist fault current commutation and interruption. However, the existing schemes have problems such as a large amplitude of oscillation current and the lack of a reclosing detection function, which limits their application in overhead-line flexible DC grids with high instantaneous fault rates. To address this issue, a THDCB with low-amplitude oscillation current and a reclosing detection function is proposed. A capacitor voltage-divider pre-charging method and a capacitor energy transfer method are adopted to reduce the oscillation current amplitude and to provide …

Prediction Of Carbon Emissions And Analysis Of Influencing Factors In Urban Areas Considering Electricity Consumption In Key Industries, Xing Deng, Wenjun Chen, Pu Wang

Journal of Electric Power Science and Technology

In the context of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality", carbon emission accounting results are an important basis for the government to formulate carbon emission reduction policies. Due to the difficulty in obtaining data required by regional carbon emission calculation, traditional calculation methods depending on these data have weak applicability and low accuracy for carbon emission calculation in urban areas. To this end, a method for predicting carbon emissions and analyzing influencing factors in urban areas considering the electricity consumption in key industries is proposed. The conversion relationship of electricity, energy, and carbon emissions in the regional key enterprises, residential buildings, …

Reliable Scheduling Of Electric Vehicles Based On User Response Credibility Assessment, Qin Wang, Jian Zhao, Haoyang Cui Feb 2026

Reliable Scheduling Of Electric Vehicles Based On User Response Credibility Assessment, Qin Wang, Jian Zhao, Haoyang Cui

Journal of Electric Power Science and Technology

Grid dispatch centers can achieve orderly dispatch of electric vehicle (EV) demand response by signing demand response agreements with EV users. However, EV users may violate the agreements by ending charging behaviour early or misreporting dispatchable loads, which affects the effectiveness of the grid scheduling strategy. To improve the reliability of the grid scheduling strategy, a reliable EV scheduling strategy based on user response credibility assessment is proposed. First, the influencing factors of EV user response credibility are analysed, and an evaluation index model of EV user response credibility is constructed from the aspects of integrity, compliance, and support. Second, …

Journal of Electric Power Science and Technology

Timely and accurate monitoring of leakage current is the foundation for achieving insulation monitoring and fault early warning of electrical equipment and ensuring the safe and stable operation of the power grid. With the wide application of renewable energy and power electronic equipment, the measurement of leakage current needs to achieve mA-level accurate measurement without affecting the normal operation of equipment. Tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) technology senses the magnetic field generated by the current to be measured through the quantum tunneling effect. Its unique material structure endows it with ultra-low power consumption and weak current detection capabilities, providing core support for …

Low-Carbon Demand Response Optim Ization Method For Integrated Energy System Based On Improved Car Bon Trading Mechanism, Xin Jin, Chao Li, Tingzhe Pan, Wei Zhou, Jiale Liu, Xinlei Cai

Journal of Electric Power Science and Technology

To address the problems that power customers lack motivation for carbon reduction and that the extensive existing energy consumption patterns prevent the full exploitation of carbon reduction potential on the user side and result in low energy utilization efficiency, an economic optimization method for integrated energy systems is proposed by incorporating a carbon trading mechanism. First, a stepped positive-negative carbon trading mechanism is introduced to guide users to reduce carbon emissions through financial profit and loss. A two-stage optimization is then applied to the power-to-gas device, and combined heat and power with an adjustable heat-to-power ratio is adopted to develop …

Numerical Modeling Of The Magnetic Vector Potential And The Associated Electromagnetic Momenta, John Adams, Christopher L. Duston Feb 2026

Numerical Modeling Of The Magnetic Vector Potential And The Associated Electromagnetic Momenta, John Adams, Christopher L. Duston

Physics Faculty Publications

The idea that the magnetic vector potential A is associated with stored electromagnetic momenta dates back to Maxwell himself. Here, we present numerical modeling results that illustrate the connection between A and associated linear and angular electromagnetic momenta, expanding on previous work which mostly considered examples that could be analytically solved. We first focus on a stationary point charge q interacting with the magnetic fields of a solenoid, separately calculating A(r) and the electromagnetic momentum added to the system in bringing q to r from a distant location where A ≈ 0. We then model the …

Institutionalizing Inclusive Education In East Africa: A Mixed-Methods Synthesis Of Pedagogical Impact And Teacher Professional Learning, Nyagwegwe Wango, Jane Rarieya Feb 2026

Institutionalizing Inclusive Education In East Africa: A Mixed-Methods Synthesis Of Pedagogical Impact And Teacher Professional Learning, Nyagwegwe Wango, Jane Rarieya

Institute for Educational Development, East Africa

East African teacher education reforms are placing a greater emphasis on inclusive and gender responsive pedagogy; yet, little research has been done on how these innovations are institutionalized outside of project cycles. In order to combine the results of two complimentary projects, the Strengthening Education Systems East Africa (SESEA) project and the Foundation for Learning (F4L) longitudinal research conducted in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, this study uses a comparative cross case synthesis design. Following the adoption of learner-centered and inclusive pedagogical practices, SESEA data shows moderate advances in numeracy and significant improvements in basic literacy. However, F4L evidence suggests that …

Strategic Plans And Their Contents: What Are The Important Issues In Higher Education?, Brent Graves, Fritz J. Erickson

Journal Articles

Strategic planning has become a virtual requirement in higher education management. Huge amounts of time, energy, and money are committed to the process by individuals representing every level in a university’s hierarchy. Despite widespread adoption and commitment, researchers have frequently questioned whether the content of these plans varies significantly among institutions, or if they are essentially interchangeable compendiums of buzzwords and cliches. Our study quantified the presence of various ideas, or themes, in strategic plans from 150 public higher education institutions in the United States. Our analyses provide evidence of what is important to strategic planners in higher education, where …

Effects Of Peripheral Sympathetic Denervation On Phytohemagglutinin (Pha) Induced Cutaneous Swelling In The Hock And Tail Of Mice, Ayusha Pokharel '27, Masyn Naegele '26 Feb 2026

Effects Of Peripheral Sympathetic Denervation On Phytohemagglutinin (Pha) Induced Cutaneous Swelling In The Hock And Tail Of Mice, Ayusha Pokharel '27, Masyn Naegele '26

Annual Student Research Poster Session

The sympathetic nervous system (SNS) carries stress signals directly to the site of injury and activates the immune system via direct neuronal innervation or release of systemic hormones. 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) is a neurotoxin that causes denervation of the SNS by eliminating the peripheral nerve terminals, which are responsible for sending the stress signals. The effect of sympathetic denervation on the localized immune response is unexplored in the literature. Therefore, our study aims to investigate the effect of 6-OHDA-induced sympathetic denervation on local inflammation following phytohemagglutinin (PHA)-induced swelling. Even under resting circumstances, some baseline level of stress is communicated to the …

Hootation: A Gui And Api Library For Ontology Validation And Verbalization., Muhammad Amith, Xubing Hao, Warren Manuel, Manqi Li, Shun Rao, Kirk Roberts, Hua Xu, Yang Gong, Frank Manion, Cui Tao, Licong Cui

Faculty, Staff and Student Publications

Ontology verbalization refers to the process of translating formal axioms into natural language expressions. The primary objective is to facilitate the review and validation of ontology content by subject matter experts without requiring extensive technical expertise. While previous approaches based on templates or controlled grammar have been effective, they often face limitations in scalability, fluency, and adaptability. To address these issues, we developed Hootation, an open-source software system that supports ontology verbalization through both a graphical user interface and an API library. The tool implements rule-based translation of OWL2 axioms and further incorporates optional Large Language Model (LLM) components for …

Prism-Xqtl: Pleiotropic Relationships Integrated With System-Level Multiomic Qtl Analysis For Causal Genes And Molecular Mediators In Alzheimer’S Disease, Nitesh Enduru, Zhongming Zhao

Faculty, Staff and Student Publications

Introduction: Most Alzheimer's disease (AD) risk variants identified by genome-wide association studies (GWAS) reside in noncoding regions, complicating causal interpretation.

Methods: We developed PRISM-xQTL (Pleiotropic Relationships Integrated with System-level Multiomic QTL), integrating pleiotropy, co-localization, Mendelian randomization, and mediation analyses across multiomic quantitative trait loci (QTLs; expression QTL [eQTL], methylation QTL [meQTL], splicing QTL [sQTL], proteomic [pQTL], single-cell [sc-eQTL]). Seventy pleiotropic single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) shared between AD and 11 immune disorders were analyzed. AlphaGenome assessed functional regulation, and The Alzheimer's Cell Atlas (TACA) database was used for drug-target relevance of FCER1G.

Results: Across 54 Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx) tissues, 410 SNP-gene-tissue co-localizations …
