Undergraduate Research and Scholarship Symposium
TrussWorthy is a modular truss-based construction platform designed to support the gradual development of sustainable infrastructure on the lunar surface. Aligned with NASA’s Moon to Mars objectives, the system emphasizes in-situ resource utilization (ISRU) by transforming lunar regolith into structural components through sintering and additive manufacturing. By reducing dependence on Earth-supplied materials, TrussWorthy aims to lower launch costs while enabling scalable, long-term construction capabilities. The design integrates autonomous excavation, 3D printing, and robotic assembly, building on technologies expected from upcoming Artemis and Commercial Lunar Payload Services missions. Engineered to withstand extreme thermal cycling, vacuum conditions, and reduced lunar gravity, the …
Caught In The Sap: An Argument For Satisfactory Academic Progress Reform Toward Equity For College Students, Z.W. Taylor, Sarah Pauter
Caught In The Sap: An Argument For Satisfactory Academic Progress Reform Toward Equity For College Students, Z.W. Taylor, Sarah Pauter
Journal of Student Financial Aid
This issue article explores how satisfactory academic progress (SAP) policies act as a major filtering mechanism within the federal student aid process, with a particular focus on how these policies impact student persistence and equity. While the majority of research on financial aid has concentrated on the challenges of the FAFSA application process and how aid supports student retention, less attention has been given to how institutions develop and impose SAP policies and how students navigate these policies and maintain eligibility for federal and other forms of student aid. As a result, this issue article articulates a two-pronged argument to …

"Hopefully This Thing Is Legit:" Student Experiences Of Administrative Burden With A Promise Program, Rosa Maria Acevedo, Denisa Gándara, Sasha Smith
Journal of Student Financial Aid
Despite the expansion of tuition-free college (Promise) programs as a financial aid strategy, little is known about how students learn about, navigate, and experience them. This qualitative case study examines how second-year students encounter administrative burdens in a Promise program (PROMISE) at a large university that seeks to minimize compliance costs. Findings reveal a tradeoff between ease of access (low compliance costs) and program-related information (high learning costs). Minimal eligibility requirements contrast with limited marketing, leaving students misinformed about key aspects of their aid. Elevated learning and psychological costs generate stress and uncertainty. Despite these challenges, students draw on navigational, …

Digging Deep Into Curation: A Guide To Creating A Local Fossil Museum, Syd Joheim, René Shroat-Lewis
Research and Creative Works Expo
In Arkansas, the dissemination of educational content related to evolution and natural history is often constrained by prevailing cultural dynamics. This has resulted in a significant gap in the exposure of primary and secondary school students to foundational concepts in natural history and physical sciences. Even the state’s most popular science and history museums often intentionally exclude exhibits that risk upsetting a large portion of their visitors, further exacerbating the issue. As a consequence, many children do not receive proper education on natural history and physical sciences. To address this educational deficiency, researchers identified and cataloged specimens from a collection …

When The Second Amendment Meets The Third Dimension: Bruen In The Age Of 3d-Printed Firearms, Andrew Touma
When The Second Amendment Meets The Third Dimension: Bruen In The Age Of 3d-Printed Firearms, Andrew Touma
Duke Journal of Constitutional Law & Public Policy Sidebar
3D-printed firearms pose a serious threat to the public by allowing individuals to circumvent traditional regulatory safeguards. Although the first shot from a 3D-printed firearm was over a decade ago, these weapons continue to exploit gaps in the federal regulatory scheme. In the meantime, state governments have adopted a variety of approaches to regulating 3D-printed firearms. As 3D printing pushes firearms technology into the future, the Supreme Court's decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Ass'n v. Bruen directs Second Amendment doctrine to look to history, leaving questions over whether a decidedly historical methodology could effectively adapt to technological …
No Cuts: How Hayao Miyazaki Highlights The United States’ Inadequacy In Protecting Foreign Authors’ Integrity, Bridget Johns
No Cuts: How Hayao Miyazaki Highlights The United States’ Inadequacy In Protecting Foreign Authors’ Integrity, Bridget Johns
UC Law SF Communications and Entertainment Journal
Although the United States joined the Berne Convention in 1989, U.S. copyright law reflects a restricted approach to moral rights protection. Unlike many Berne signatories, the U.S. largely frames copyright as an economic right rather than as a way to protect artistic integrity. Japanese law, by contrast, treats moral rights as central to creative work protections, emphasizing the importance of the work’s dignity and author’s intent. This incongruity has significant consequences in the globalized era, particularly when foreign works are distributed within the U.S. Weak statutory moral rights protections leave authors vulnerable to misattribution and distortion without meaningful recourse. This …
What The Court Tells Reporters: A Discourse Analysis Of Press Interviews With The Justices Since 2000, Brown James
What The Court Tells Reporters: A Discourse Analysis Of Press Interviews With The Justices Since 2000, Brown James
UC Law SF Communications and Entertainment Journal
The Supreme Court of the United States is among the most influential institutions in American life, yet it is also well known to be one of the most secluded and inaccessible. By and large, the justices only pass their thoughts and decision-making processes to the public via their official written opinions, and seldom grant interviews to reporters. General press coverage of the Court has been given considerable scholarly attention, but the limited interviews the justices grant to the press receive comparatively little attention. This article examines those interviews by analyzing 82 press interviews with active and retired justices from 2000 …

[Results] Under the optimized conditions of coating antigen concentration at 0.25 μg/mL, antibody dilution of 1∶40 000, secondary antibody dilution of 1∶5 000, primary antibody incubation for …
Dilemma Of Food Safety Information Release In The Protection Of Consumer Rights And Interests, Kong Fei
Dilemma Of Food Safety Information Release In The Protection Of Consumer Rights And Interests, Kong Fei
Food and Machinery
From the perspective of consumer rights protection, and in light of the existing institutional mechanisms and practical conditions in the field of food safety, this study finds that the current release of food safety information faces several dilemmas, including insufficient transparency in government food safety information disclosure systems, relatively single channels for information dissemination, and a relatively lagging public opinion monitoring system. In response to these dilemmas, solutions can be proposed from three distinct dimensions. First, enhancing the transparency of the government food safety information release system, namely by clearly defining the responsibilities of various departments and enriching the types …

Bearing Fault Detection Of Fruit Puree Packing Machine Based On Multi-Channel Depth Residual Graph Neural Network, Yan Shengli, Fu Hui, Li Hao
Food and Machinery
[Objective] To address the issue of bearing failure in fruit puree packaging machines operating in complex work environments. [Methods] This study proposes a method of bearing fault detection of fruit puree packing machine based on multi-channel depth residual graph neural network. First, it uses the Cmor wavelet to complete signal preprocessing, and converts the original one-dimensional bearing fault signal samples into two-dimensional time-frequency graph signals. Second, the study designs the multi-channel feature extraction module, which reduces the number of parameters and enhances the data interaction between each channel, so as to effectively extract the two-dimensional time-frequency spectrum information of the …
