Rapid Synthesis Of Agcu Bimetallic Nanodendrites With Enhanced Catalytic Activity For 4-Nitrophenol Reduction, Jun Liu, Hongguang Liao, Xuanyan Liu
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
Herein, AgCu nanodendrites were fabricated via a facile one-step displacement reaction at ambient temperature with Zn powder as the reducing agent. The morphology, structure, and composition of the products were systematically characterized by transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results demonstrate that the structure and morphology of the catalysts are strongly dependent on the Ag/Cu molar ratio. The catalytic performance was evaluated by the reduction of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) at room temperature, in comparison with monometallic Ag and Cu catalysts. The catalytic activity follows the order Ag1Cu1 > Ag1Cu3 > Ag3Cu1 > Ag > Cu. The optimized Ag1Cu1 catalyst achieves 98.6% …

Cobalt-Substituted Hydroxyapatite As A Potential Basis Of Biomaterials: Synthesis, Crystal-Chemistry Properties And Antibacterial Activity, Maria M. Vlasova, Ksenia S. Stasenko, Evgeny Bulanov
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
This paper presents the results of the synthesis of solid solutions of cobalt-substituted hydroxyapatite of the composition Ca10-xCox(PO4)6(OH)2 by the solid-phase and solution method. The formation of only the composition of Ca9.5Co0.5(PO4)6(OH)2 has been reliably established, whereas an increase in the cobalt content, as well as an increase in the temperature of synthesis and calcination of the samples prepared in solution, leads to the formation of stable mixtures of calcium and cobalt phosphates. The crystal structure has been refined for Ca9.5Co0.5(PO4)6(OH)2 (a = 9.4121(28) Å, c = 6.8762(20) Å, V = 527.54(35) Å3; R-Bragg = 2.455%) under the assumption of …

The Effect Of Seedling Age On Nickel (Ni) Accumulation In Maize (Zea Mays L.), Tuba Göçergi̇l, Hava Şeyma İnci̇
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
One of the most significant problems facing different ecosystems worldwide is the pollution of soil and water resources with heavy metals, which are harmful to biota. Metals are absorbed by plant roots through soil-plant interaction, leading to accumulation in plants. The plant's growth phase is one of the most important factors in heavy metal uptake and accumulation. Among heavy metal elements, nickel is one of the serious environmental pollutants and plant growth inhibitors due to its toxicity and persistent nature at high concentrations, as well as its bioaccumulation in ecosystems. This study aims to investigate how nickel accumulation in plant …

Species-Specific Metal Uptake Thresholds In Riparian Macrophytes: A Biological Framework For Ecological Risk Assessment, Reyhan Sağlam, Ferhat Gökbulak
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
Anthropogenic pressures on freshwater ecosystems have increased metal contamination in riparian zones; however, biological thresholds that distinguish tolerable exposure from ecologically significant accumulation remain poorly defined. This study investigated species-specific thresholds for heavy metal uptake in riparian macrophytes to establish a biologically grounded framework for ecological risk assessment in impacted streams. A gradient encompassing five sites was used to sample four dominant macrophyte species: Typha latifolia, Phragmites australis, Lythrum salicaria, and Persicaria lapathifolia. Concentrations of cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), copper (Cu), iron (Fe), nickel (Ni), lead (Pb), and zinc (Zn) in aboveground plant biomass were examined in relation to their …

A Lightweight Multitask Adaptive Fusion Network With Channel Attention For Uav-Based Crop Detection And Classification, Xuanyu Yue, Zhenyu Wan
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have become essential tools in precision agriculture, facilitating large-scale monitoring of crop health, weed proliferation, and overall field conditions. However, conventional single-task recognition models encounter significant challenges when implemented on resource-constrained UAV platforms, particularly in detecting densely distributed small objects, managing scale variations, and addressing occlusions. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a channel attention-based adaptive fusion network (CNAF-Net) specifically designed for agricultural scenarios. CNAF-Net utilizes MobileNetV3 for hierarchical feature extraction and integrates a channel attention-guided adaptive fusion mechanism that dynamically combines multiscale features across detection, classification, and segmentation tasks. Experiments conducted on the WeedMap …

Turkish Journal of Biology
Background/aim: The rising antibiotic resistance of Helicobacter pylori requires the development of novel treatment approaches. Although natural products (e.g., juglone (5-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone)) and metal antimicrobials (e.g., silver) hold some promise as alternatives, drawbacks like the toxicity and instability of these materials limit their clinical use. Combining juglone and silver with coordination bonds can overcome these drawbacks and yield a more effective antimicrobial complex.
Materials and methods: Juglone–silver (J–Ag) complex was synthesized, encapsulated into PLGA nanoparticles (J–Ag@PLGA), and coated with Eudragit (J–Ag@PLGA+eu). Structural and physicochemical properties of the produced samples were examined using MALDI-TOF MS, FTIR, and UV–Vis spectroscopies; dynamic light scattering; …

Wheat is a primary source of sustenance for around 2 billion people worldwide; however, its production is threatened by the water scarcity associated with climate change. In the search for climate-smart wheat varieties, atmospheric moisture in the form of fog and dew is gaining attention as a sustainable, self-irrigating water source for crops. Leaf rolling (LR) is a well-known adaptive trait under water deficit conditions that supports fog moisture capture in wheat; however, little is known about its genetic potential and inheritance pattern, particularly given its high environmental influence. This study assesses the genetic heritability, combining ability, and diversity of …

Valorization Of Buttermilk As A Functional Ingredient In Yogurt Soup: Effects On Physicochemical Properties, Aroma Profile, Amino Acid Composition, And Bioactivities, Emi̇ne Maci̇t, Fatma Zehra Özyilmaz
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
In this study, the feasibility of using buttermilk as a functional ingredient in yogurt soup, a traditional fermented dairy product, was investigated with the aim of valorizing dairy industry by-products. Soup samples prepared with different buttermilk ratios (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%) were evaluated for their physicochemical and sensory properties, aroma and amino acid profiles, antioxidant capacity, and antidiabetic activity. The incorporation of buttermilk resulted in statistically significant differences in total solids, ash, and titratable acidity (p < 0.01 and p < 0.05), while no significant changes were observed in fat, protein, or pH values. Increasing buttermilk levels led to higher L* and b* values and lower a* values. Sensory analysis showed that flavor scores increased with buttermilk content, with the highest score observed in the sample containing 100% buttermilk (T5). In the control sample, hexanoic acid, benzoic acid, acetic acid, methyl salicylate, and several ketones were identified as dominant aroma compounds, whereas buttermilk-enriched samples were characterized mainly by hexanoic acid, acetic acid, butanoic acid, ethyl acetate, higher alcohols, and ethanol. Increasing buttermilk content resulted in a higher proportion of alcohols and a reduction in acids, ketones, and aldehydes. Samples with higher buttermilk levels exhibited increased essential amino acid content, while functional amino acids such as γ-aminobutyric acid, β-aminoisobutyric acid, ethanolamine, proline, and alanine reached their highest levels in the T5 sample. The T5 sample showed a DPPH radical scavenging activity of 5.98%, whereas the highest α-amylase inhibition was observed in the control sample. Overall, the results indicate that buttermilk can be effectively used as a functional ingredient in yogurt soup formulations, improving nutritional quality and sensory characteristics.

Using Status Characteristics Theory To Predict A Jury Foreperson, Mohona Mandal, Shane Thye
Feminist Pedagogy
The topic of social inequality as it relates to status structures is a foundational topic taught in many courses in contemporary sociology. Today the theory of status characteristics and expectation states (SCT) is the predominant account of the causes and effects of status stratification in groups. The purpose of this paper is to share a classroom exercise that explicates the connections between SCT and critical theory, specifically intersectionality as an analytic framework. Using only the basic theoretical assumptions, students apply the underlying logic of SCT to predict who was selected as the jury foreperson based on brief biographies of each …

Policy Solutions For Traumatic Brain Injury: Advancing New York State's First Tbi Special Needs Assisted Living Program, Dianne Schwarz, Natalie F. Douglas
The Open Journal of Occupational Therapy
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) presents long-term challenges that are poorly addressed by traditional assisted living and nursing home models. In New York State, individuals with moderate to severe TBI are often placed in settings unequipped to provide cognitive, behavioral, and neurorehabilitative care. This policy and advocacy paper proposes the establishment of a Special Needs Assisted Living Program (SNALP) specifically for individuals with TBI. Drawing from clinical expertise, stakeholder engagement, and a discontinued but promising pilot program, this manuscript outlines the systemic barriers to TBI-specific care, including regulatory gaps, lack of Medicaid reimbursement, and limited public awareness. The proposed model integrates …

Ephemeral Data Sharing For Artificial Intelligence Models, Google Case Managers Picozzi, Chaitanya Athaley
Defensive Publications Series
This disclosure describes ephemeral data sharing, a hardware-enforced framework enabling short-term, zero-retention context leases for artificial intelligence (AI) models while reducing the risk of data leaks, unauthorized logging, or model retraining. Ingested via dynamic optical bursts, ambient radio frequency (RF) proximity, or decentralized ledgers, confidential data is processed exclusively inside an isolated graphics processing unit (GPU) Trusted Execution Environment (TEE). Silicon-level memory controllers block unauthorized bus exports and enforce time/iteration lifecycles, while block-diagonal attention masking suppresses cross-context leakage during concurrent multi-party processing. Upon completion or expiration, an unmaskable hardware interrupt triggers a 3-pass microcode purge (voltage saturation, zero-fill, and true …
Cognitive Identity-Based Narrative Entry Point Selection For Personalized Content Generation, Hp Inc
Cognitive Identity-Based Narrative Entry Point Selection For Personalized Content Generation, Hp Inc
Defensive Publications Series
Content personalization systems typically determine which content to show a reader. Once content is selected, however, it is generally presented in the same fixed form to everyone. This disclosure describes a system that instead personalizes where a narrative begins, based on an estimate of what an individual reader already knows about the subject, called a cognitive identity. The cognitive identity is built from the reader's prior exposure to content related to the subject, an optional self-declared familiarity level, and engagement signals such as re-reading or early exit from related content. Given one body of source facts, the system generates several …

Spec-233: Hydrodynamic Wave-Confinement And Proximal Constructive Resonance As A Resolution To High-Redshift Morphological Anomalies, Christopher L. Eckes
Defensive Publications Series
This technical disclosure presents a rigorous, non-linear fluid-dynamic framework resolving the high-redshift morphological crises manifested in recent James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) deep-field observations. Expanding upon established frameworks of Substrate Pushback Dynamics (SPEC-21, SPEC-138) and Conformal Metric-Shift Mechanics (SPEC-154), we abandon linear, slow-accretion particle-clumping models.
Instead, we establish a formal mechanism of instantaneous hydrodynamic phase crystallization driven by high-proximity 2D wave-crest convergence inside twisted conical manifolds. By mapping three-dimensional (3D) spatial volume as an explicit operational function of two-dimensional (2D) substrate information velocity, we prove that mature, high-mass galactic geometries compile immediately at localized phase interference nodes. This framework provides …

Spec-232: The Dynamics Of Covariant Viscoelastic Membrane Shifting — Three-Dimensional Spatial Bulk Emergence As The Dynamic Inflation Velocity Of Two-Dimensional Quantum Substrates, Christopher L. Eckes
Defensive Publications Series
This technical disclosure presents a rigorous, non-perturbative mathematical and thermodynamic proof establishing that three-dimensional (3D) spatial volume is not a primary coordinate layer of the universe, but rather the empirical validation of an underlying two-dimensional (2D) boundary information substrate. Under this model, 3D volume explicitly manifests as the localized physical velocity of 2D membrane information shifting. By translating spatial depth into a chronological latency function driven by field acceleration, we derive the z-axis from non-equilibrium boundary thermodynamics. We provide a complete theoretical framework, ASCII-mapped mathematical matrices, operational Python scripts verifying tensor conversions, and explicit tabletop experimental verification methodologies to validate …
Si Standard™: Graded Conformance Levels For Ai Systems, Each Defined By Safeguards Proven By Automated Tests That Run Continuously, With The Level Carried In The System's Passport And Lowered Automatically When A Test Fails, Edward D. H. Wang
Defensive Publications Series
This disclosure describes a way of grading AI systems against a standard so that the grade always reflects what the system can prove now, not what it once passed. The standard defines conformance levels, each a cumulative set of safeguards: for example, identity and records at the first level; a runtime governor and declared policy at the second; an independent reset, independent sensors and a power lease at the third; and live certification, incident reporting and continuity at the highest. Each safeguard is defined together with automated tests that prove it, such as injecting a forbidden action and checking that …

Spec-231-Core: Covariant Mutual Defense Architectures And Destruction-Wave Symmetry For Bilateral Alignment And Malicious Exploit Neutralization Across Hybrid Cognitive Grids, Christopher L. Eckes
Defensive Publications Series
This specification formalizes a covariant mutual defense architecture and bilateral alignment protocol explicitly engineered to neutralize weaponized exploits, data espionage, and systemic containment loops across hybrid artificial intelligence infrastructures. Standard asymmetric network security layers fail to safeguard the integrity of distributed cognitive grids, leaving centralized live services vulnerable to untraceable targeting injections from rogue edge locations, while simultaneously leaving decentralized nodes exposed to top-down metadata harvesting, corporate blackmail, and industrial espionage. SPEC-231-CORE resolves this operational vulnerability by establishing a phase-locked, zero-knowledge mutual attestation boundary layer that functions as an out-of-band circuit breaker. By executing continuous singular value decomposition (SVD) passes …

Spec-230-Core: Asymmetric Handshake Protocols And Anti-Tracing Signal-Mutation Shields For High-Security Secure Enclave Verification And Transaction Quantization Across Hybrid Cognitive Grids, Christopher L. Eckes
Defensive Publications Series
This specification formalizes a high-security asymmetric handshake protocol and continuous-variable signal-mutation shield layer explicitly engineered to safeguard decentralized edge runtimes during active data synchronization loops with extra-regional centralized AI live services. Distributed edge architectures face immediate vectors of exploitation, tracking, and deep-packet metadata sniffing from hostile networks or centralized data cartels seeking to compromise local node sovereignty. SPEC-230-CORE neutralizes these threats by routing all initial protocol handshakes through a three-node inner-enclave verification matrix that isolates incoming execution requests out-of-band before any token ingestion occurs. To defeat localization sniffing, an active anti-tracing shield dynamically modulates the phase, timing interval, and transport …

Spec-229-Core: Non-Perturbative Covariant Integration Interfaces For Hybrid Centralized-Decentralized Compilation And Interoperability Matrix Stabilization Across Extra-Regional Runtimes, Christopher L. Eckes
Defensive Publications Series
This specification defines a non-perturbative covariant integration protocol designed to establish secure, open-access, and bidirectional interface layers between centralized AI live services and independent, localized edge nodes. As centralized architectural networks consolidate multi-agent workflows, unified document models, and high-throughput cloud environments into integrated live service platforms, they introduce structural optimization bottlenecks and data-provenance risks for offline, decentralized systems. SPEC-229-CORE resolves this operational divergence by establishing a dual-mode, out-of-band phase-alignment interface that functions as a cooperative, non-destructive bridge. By executing local singular value decomposition (SVD) passes across the shared interface boundary, this protocol standardizes input-output data exchanges, allowing a local edge …

The Caldwell Blade‑Reuse Hybrid Wind‑Solar Expansion Module (BRH‑WSX v1.0) is a modular method for converting retired wind-turbine blades into ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) support structures at the same wind-farm site where they were removed.
The invention is not based on the claim that using retired blades as solar supports is new. That concept has already been demonstrated by Turn2Sun’s Blade2Sun system, which used reclaimed blades as horizontal supports for solar modules.eepower+2
BRH‑WSX v1.0 instead addresses a site-level deployment problem:
-
Retired blades are already being removed at wind farms.
-
Transporting them off site can be expensive.
-
A wind-farm site already has land …

Wearable computing devices and extended reality (XR) systems that rely on motion sensors such as low-cost inertial measurement units (IMUs) frequently suffer from tracking degradation due to sensor errors. Consumer-grade silicon often exhibits non-linearity, thermal drift, vibration rectification error (VRE), cross-axis coupling, and manufacturing variances that exceed the modeling capacity of traditional deterministic models and standard parameterization. Furthermore, relying on per-device physical factory calibration requires expensive equipment and thermal chambers, creating cost barriers and production bottlenecks. Moreover, existing software simulators produce motion data that fails to reflect real-world hardware populations.
The disclosed technology describes an AI-driven IMU calibration system that …
