2026 Symposium

Thin films are a part of semiconductor devices and electronics we use everyday. There are many methods of depositing thin films on substrates and one of the easiest and cost effective is spin coating. Compared to other conventional deposition methods such as plasma enhanced chemical vapor (PECVD),electroplating, pulsed laser deposition (PLD), and others, spin coating does not require expensive equipment or a vacuum system. In this study, thin films of zinc oxide were deposited on glass substrates via spin coating under varying processing conditions. These films were then imaged in a scanning electron microscope to investigate correlations between processing conditions …

Timing Periodic Memory Maintenance Operations Using Dram Refresh Signals, Anirban Majumder, Akshay Sharma, Pandithurai Sangaiyah

Defensive Publications Series

Memory controllers perform periodic maintenance and training operations to preserve data integrity and link reliability.  Operations (e.g., temperature sensor polling, bus training, calibration, drift compensation) occur at intervals ranging from 1 to 100 milliseconds.  Implementing these timings with counters may increase area and leakage power.  To address this, a disclosed method leverages periodic DRAM refresh events as a clock source for timing maintenance tasks. A down counter decrements each time a refresh signal is detected; upon reaching zero, the controller triggers the target maintenance operation and reloads the counter from a register. By utilizing the inherent periodicity of refresh cycles, …

Control Software Lifecycle Management, Anonymous May 2026

Control Software Lifecycle Management, Anonymous

Defensive Publications Series

Control software goes through multiple changes by different people at various phases during its lifetime from design to commissioning to operation to end of life. These frequent software changes make it difficult to track, validate, and maintain consistency. There is no Versioning system to track all the changes contextually. Failures due to software quality issues are often addressed reactively. A Sophisticated versioning system will be of interest to cater Software Quality. Commercial systems like GIT are not designed for Control Software.

The resulting adoption measurements provide an objective, context-aware view of true adoption progress that remains accurate as products and customer usage mature over time by dynamically recalibrating milestone thresholds and cohort baselines from live peer telemetry distributions.

When The Second Amendment Meets The Third Dimension: Bruen In The Age Of 3d-Printed Firearms, Andrew Touma May 2026

When The Second Amendment Meets The Third Dimension: Bruen In The Age Of 3d-Printed Firearms, Andrew Touma

Duke Journal of Constitutional Law & Public Policy Sidebar

3D-printed firearms pose a serious threat to the public by allowing individuals to circumvent traditional regulatory safeguards. Although the first shot from a 3D-printed firearm was over a decade ago, these weapons continue to exploit gaps in the federal regulatory scheme. In the meantime, state governments have adopted a variety of approaches to regulating 3D-printed firearms. As 3D printing pushes firearms technology into the future, the Supreme Court's decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Ass'n v. Bruen directs Second Amendment doctrine to look to history, leaving questions over whether a decidedly historical methodology could effectively adapt to technological …
