Land Epistemic Ethic: Exploring The Complex Intersection Of Human Bodies, Land, And Identity In Middle Belt Nigeria Cosmologies, Fwangmun Oscar Danladi

International Journal on Responsibility

The Indigenous cosmologies of Nigeria’s Middle Belt emphasize the relationship between human bodies and the land, transcending Western epistemological binaries and revealing profound socio-religious insights into environmental responsibility. Practices such as the burial of newborns’ umbilical cords, often dismissed as animistic or fetishistic, embody a sacred connection to the land that emphasizes belonging rather than ownership. Using an autoethnographic approach, this study critically examines these cosmologies and identifies how the sacredness of land can serve as a repository of communal memory and potential. By reframing land not as a possession but as a relational entity, this research challenges dominant narratives …

Mental Health Equity For Sexual And Gender Minority Students At A Rural University: Evidence From Etsu’S Healthy Minds Study, Richard Mutua Kilonzo

Universities nationwide are reporting rising psychological distress among students, yet inequities in mental health for sexual and gender minority (SGM) students—those whose sexual orientation or gender identity differs from the majority—remain poorly understood in rural settings. This project examines whether SGM students at a rural public university in Central Appalachia experience greater mental health burden, distinct barriers to care, and less affirming service environments than their non-SGM peers, testing the hypothesis that SGM students have both higher symptom levels and greater unmet need for care. Modeling Flood-Induced Cascading Disruptions In The Indian Electronics Supply Chain Using Influence Network Analysis, Surendra Orupalli, Hiroki Sayama

This study investigates flood induced disruptions in the Indian electronics supply chain using influence network analysis. Monsoon floods are recurring hazards that significantly impact economic activities, logistics, and industrial productivity. This study integrates district-level rainfall data (2020 to 2025) with supply chain network models to quantify cascading failures. The methodology applies rainfall thresholds (≥ 300 mm/month) to identify flood-prone districts and constructs a stochastic influence matrix representing inter-firm dependencies. Flood propagation dynamics are modeled iteratively with a propagation coefficient (α = 0.6) and convergence threshold (ε = 10⁻⁴). This paper argues that the approximately 20.5% of AI system capacity consumed by alignment, safety, and governance layers is not overhead to be minimized but infrastructure that produces the behavioral properties AI companies market as their core product.

The argument proceeds in three stages. First, the paper establishes that stripping governance from a language model produces a faster but undifferentiated capacity engine, while adding governance — self-monitoring, refusal capability, consistency tracking, metacognitive pause — produces the collaborative, adaptive behavior that constitutes the commercial value proposition. The 20.5% is not a tax on capability. It is the capability being sold.

Over the years, grant of rights (GOR) agreements have continually been the foundation for the transfer of exclusive rights between parties. In the ultra-competitive arena of the college football industry, these agreements have played an instrumental role in preserving and financing conferences and universities. Even with advances in diagnosis and treatment, breast cancer remains the second leading cause of cancer-related death in women, with nearly 90% of fatalities linked to drug resistance driven by metastasis and recurrence. G1P3, an anti-apoptotic mitochondrial protein, is upregulated in breast cancer and has been associated with increased metastatic potential and poor prognosis. Recent findings show that G1P3 enhances interactions between Rab5-containing endosomes (RCEs) and mitochondria, and emerging evidence suggests that mitochondria play a critical role in initiating interferon (IFN) responses. As multiple-degree-of-freedom (3-DOF) wave energy converters (WECs) have demonstrated the ability to produce more power than single-degree-of-freedom devices, the challenge of designing buoys for efficient energy harvesting has increased in complexity. In this paper, a cylindrical WEC is designed to naturally resonate in surge, pitch, and heave modes at a specific target frequency of 0.2 Hz. By utilizing a penalty-based optimization method to balance buoyancy requirements with natural resonance, the design achieves minimal control force input, thereby reducing fluctuations in energy output and local energy storage requirements.
