Exploring Tourism Business Voices In Navigating Pandemic Crisis And Resilience-Building, Godwin Adiel A. Lema

COVID-19 challenged mobility, redefining crisis navigation and resilience. A modified Challenge Metamorphosis Model (CMM) is proposed to understand crisis navigating process in tourism business resilience-building. A pragmatic mixed-method design, involving 158 tourism-business respondents, multiple regions, interviews, and observation during June–November 2020, was applied. Impacts, challenges, opportunities, varied business responses and outcomes were mirrored. Immediate reactive closure and booking cancellation responses were distinguished from proactive adaptive business continuity measures with low visitors, postponement, few bookings and negotiable employment flexibility. Health, safety, and culturally embedded coping practices and their reinvention aided crisis navigation. Women’s political participation in the Middle East remains shaped by the complex interaction of cultural norms, religious interpretations, and democratic reform processes. While existing scholarship has examined these factors extensively, limited attention has been devoted to explaining why women’s political participation varies across states with broadly similar socio-cultural and religious contexts. This study addresses this gap through a qualitative comparative analysis of Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, and Iran. Guided by Feminist Institutionalism and Political Opportunity Structure theory, the study draws on secondary data from peer-reviewed literature, legal documents, and policy reports. Mangroves provide coastal communities with a multitude of ecosystem services. This is the case in Joal-Fadiouth. A study on its mangrove dynamics revealed a decline in area between 1974 and 2004, followed by a gradual trend after it acquired Marine Protected Area (MPA) status in 2004. Given the importance of this mangrove, the research focused on analyzing its evolution associated with rainfall and temperature variability. To do this, Spearman’s Rho correlation coefficient was performed between mangrove areas in 10-year increments from 1974 to 2024 and values of climate parameters studied for each increment, with n (number of pairs) = 6. …

Foreign language learning anxiety remains a critical affective variable influencing learners’ performance in English as a foreign language (EFL) classrooms. This study examined the association between translanguaging as a pedagogical strategy and foreign language anxiety among Saudi university students. Adopting a quantitative descriptive-correlational design, data were collected from 200 undergraduate EFL students using a structured questionnaire. While the study design allowed for correlational analysis, the individual participant data required to compute a correlation coefficient between the primary constructs was not provided in the report. Background: Multidrug-resistant E. coli and K. pneumoniae isolates are the most common causes of acquired urinary tract infections (UTIs). Objective: Conclude the prevalence of multidrug-resistant E. coli and K. pneumoniae isolates in urine samples from immunocompromised patients with UTIs. Methods: A total of 543 urine samples were collected from patients with supposed UTIs. MacConkey, chromogenic agar, and blood culture were used to cultivate the samples. Journal of Social, Behavioral, and Health Sciences

This study investigated whether practicing self-compassion and embracing one's authentic self could protect graduate students from burnout. Researchers also empirically examined the mediating effect of authenticity in the relationship between self-compassion and burnout. A total of 318 master's degree students in a helping profession completed surveys assessing their levels of self-compassion, authenticity, and burnout. Results found that graduate students with higher levels of self-compassion and authenticity tended to have lower levels of burnout. Additionally, authenticity mediated the relationship between self-compassion and burnout. The findings suggest that practicing self-compassion and embracing one's authentic self may lead to lower levels of burnout …

Intraductal carcinoma (IDC) of the salivary gland is an uncommon epithelial neoplasm characterized by a predominantly intraductal or intracystic proliferation rimmed by a myoepithelial cell layer. Advances in molecular profiling have revealed recurrent gene fusions in IDC, most frequently involving RET, although fusions implicating other kinase genes have also been described. Among these, ALK rearrangements are rare and remain poorly characterized. Herein, we report a case of oncocytic IDC of the parotid gland harboring a STRN::ALK fusion, further expanding the molecular landscape of this tumor. This study investigates how Arab tourists construct and negotiate the meanings of their visits to Istanbul through the intertwined lenses of media, identity, and consumption practices. Moving beyond conventional analyses of tourist motivation, the research explores how these visitors reconcile traditional and modern experiences, interpret mediated representations of the city, and utilize digital platforms to curate and share their travel narratives. Employing a qualitative design, the study draws on in-depth interviews, participant observations, and a focus group discussion conducted with 26 Arab tourists and seven local guides. This study investigates the post-graduation career planning preferences, influencing factors, and expectations of 138 students enrolled in maritime education programs at İskenderun Technical University in Türkiye, using a structured survey administered to students from the Maritime Technologies Vocational School to examine career intentions, sectoral awareness, salary expectations, and perceptions of institutional support. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and non-parametric tests (Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis). The findings indicate that 41.3% of students reported no specific sector preference, while 26.1% preferred the public sector, 21.0% the private sector, and 11.6% were undecided.
