The achievement of the Minimum Service Standards (MSS) in Yahukimo District, Highland Papua Province, Indonesia, warrants examination. This study aimed to analyze factors associated with the achievement of health service targets among Public Health Centers (PHCs) in Yahukimo District. An ecological study design was employed. The participants were 400 health workers from 33 PHCs and were examined using Likert-scale questionnaires. Data were processed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) to assess the association of each variable. The results showed that health target indicators were associated with the achievement of health service targets (T = 3.320; p-value = 0.012). Health …

This dissertation answers two basic questions: what are the effects of aggregate demand on the long-run level of economic activity, and how do exogenous changes in the bargaining power of workers affect macroeconomic performance? The first chapter, written with Steven Fazzari, extends a simple Keynesian growth model to show that demand shocks can have permanent effects on labor productivity and labor supply. Estimating the model on U.S. data, we find that positive demand shocks raise labor productivity persistently, implying that stronger demand increases the long-run level of economic activity. This paper examines the historical roots, contemporary challenges, and emerging solutions for fostering civic knowledge, skills, and dispositions among students. It highlights the systemic disparities affecting civic education, particularly in underserved communities, and explores the role of recent legislative measures and innovative initiatives in addressing these gaps. Recent conflicts have renewed the long-running debate over the legality of attacking economic objects under the law of armed conflict. Within that discourse, observers frequently frame the controversy in relation to an abstract U.S. “war-sustaining” position. Critics often characterize the United States as advancing a distinctive and overly permissive interpretation of military objectives that allegedly departs from the targeting criteria set forth in Article 52(2) of Additional Protocol I. This article challenges that characterization. It concludes that the United States does not apply a separate “war-sustaining” lex specialis to economic objects. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a major public health concern with psychosocial impacts, such as reduced resilience and depression. This study examined the moderating role of perceived social support on the relationship between resilience and depression among individuals diagnosed with COPD in South Tangerang, Indonesia. A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted between January and February 2024 using self-administered questionnaires. Participants were adult patients with clinically diagnosed COPD, recruited from all public health centers (PHC) in South Tangerang. A total of 125 participants met the inclusion criteria and were included in the analysis. Participants had a mean age of 41.46±15.69 …

Background: Media reports on the misconduct of nurses and midwives, including cases of fake credentials, drug theft, and incompetence, are on the rise. However, there are no published studies currently addressing this issue in Uganda. Therefore, to inform effective regulation of the profession, we analysed the misconduct cases involving nurses and midwives reported to the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council between 2017 and 2021.

A new species, Compsobuthus hadeki sp. n. from Iraq is described and fully complemented with color photographs and compared with morphologically the most similar species, C. matthiesseni (Birula, 1905). The two species can be unequivocally separated by the following morphological features: in C. hadeki sp. n., movable finger of pedipalp bears 9 rows of granules; telson with aculeus shorter than vesicle, and metasoma III with 10 carinae. Cytogenetic analysis was performed, revealing a diploid chromosome count of 22 in C. hadeki sp. n.

Western wheatgrass (Agropyron smithii Rydb.) and blue grama (Bouteloua gracilis[Willd. ex H.B.K.J Lag. ex Griffiths) are widely distributed throughout the U.S.A. They arc two of the predominant native grasses in rangelands in the northern Great Plains. Because suitable cultivars are not always available for reseeding disturbed areas, we collected plants of the two species and evaluated phenotypic variability to determine potential for breeding improvement. We also sampled the nematode popula­tion associated with the collections. This Article challenges the conventional understanding of originalism as a method that promotes unchanging constitutional meanings. Drawing on four and a half decades of experience since Attorney General Edwin Meese first championed originalism as a conservative project, this Article demonstrates that originalism has generally proven destabilizing rather than stabilizing to constitutional law. Landmark cases such as New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. President & Fellows of Harvard College, and Shelby County v. Professor Sherif Girgis’s Dunwody Lecture argues that today’s originalists face a choice between two irreconcilable goals: constraining judges’ moral or policymaking discretion and adhering to the Constitution’s original meaning. In the academy, they’ve generally opted to sacrifice judicial constraint for the sake of fidelity to original law. But the Supreme Court’s originalists are far less comfortable with that move. Where the Constitution’s original meaning is underdetermined, or seems to invite discretionary judgment calls, they’ve looked for other non-originalist tools to tie their hands. In Trump v. CASA, the Supreme Court expounded on and applied a methodological framework that mimics the test the Court has recently begun deploying in Second Amendment and other individual rights cases. That test has three primary components: (1) search for historical analogues; (2) apply historical principles; and (3) abjure contemporary concerns that can be labeled “policy” considerations. Bruen’s echoes in CASA are noticeable and telling. So too are the lessons that CASA can teach about how the Court’s approach to history and tradition is continuing to develop.

Is originalism the law today? Because judicial opinions are an important part of how we know the law, it is important exactly what makes a judicial opinion originalist. Lower courts interpreting the opinions of a higher court lack the power to smooth out inconsistencies, fill in assumptions about what is really motivating the higher court, or dismiss stated rationales that conflict with what those lower courts take to be the facts. This article examines the development and significance of the Second Prophecy of Mandos within J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendarium. Through an analysis of Tolkien’s published works and posthumously edited texts, the study traces the evolution of the prophecy from its earliest formulations in The Book of Lost Tales to its later iterations in the Quenta Silmarillion tradition. Particular attention is devoted to the editorial decision by Christopher Tolkien to omit the prophecy from the 1977 publication of The Silmarillion, assessing both the philological and interpretative factors that may have influenced this choice.
