New-onset diabetes (NOD) has emerged as a potential early indicator of pancreatic cancer (PC), necessitating a refined clinical approach for risk assessment and early detection. This study discusses critical gaps in understanding the NOD-PC relationship and proposes a multifaceted approach to enhance early detection and risk assessment. We present a comprehensive clinical workflow for evaluating NOD patients, incorporating biomarker discovery, genetic screening, and AI-driven imaging to improve PC risk stratification. While existing models consider metabolic factors, they often overlook germline genetic predispositions that may influence disease development. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) plays a key role in angiogenesis throughout the human body, influencing countless physiological and pathological processes, including tumor growth, preeclampsia, and retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy (DR) and age-related macular degeneration (AMD). In DR, VEGF promotes retinal neovascularization and intraretinal fluid accumulation, leading to complications like diabetic macular edema (DME) and proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR). Regular intravitreal anti-VEGF injections are commonly used to manage PDR and DME, though repeated treatments are often required, and efficacy can be limited. The migration of the alfalfa weevil, clover leaf weevil and clover root curculio from aestivation sites into adjacent alfalfa fields was monitored with several different trapping systems. It was found that the initial dispersal back into alfalfa fields following aestivation was a slow gradual movement across the soil surface with flight occurring only after the insects had been in the alfalfa for several days.

Observations On The Biology Of The Slender Seedcorn Beetle, Clivina Impressifrons (Coleoptera: Carabidae), Robert D. Pausch, Lois M. Pausch

The slender seedcorn beetle, Clirina impressijirons, is known to attack germinating corn seed, but field and laboratory studies of its life history indicate it may sometimes play a beneficial role. Feeding studies show that adults and larvae are primarily carnivorous but will feed on corn seed when their primary food is absent or in short supply. Certain behavioral aspects indicate that populations of this beetle might be attracted to selected agricultural areas where adults and larvae could serve as predators of soil pests of corn. This paper exposes how immigration enforcement under the Trump administration’s second term has crossed the line from policy to persecution. ICE is operating like a secret police force, using fear tactics and legal loopholes to tear families apart without cause or due process. The impact is not theoretical. It is real, measurable, and devastating. Children are being taken from schools. Parents are disappearing without explanation. Communities are being pushed into silence and survival mode. Say It Once, Say It Twice: Abrogating The Rebuttal Requirement Of The Prior Consistent Statement Hearsay Rule, Natashja Atherton

Federal Rule of Evidence 801(d)(1)(B) limits the introduction of a witness’s prior statements during court proceedings, even if those statements are consistent with the witness’s in-court testimony. A witness’s previous declarations can only be solicited if (a) the adversarial party directly attacks the witness’s credibility and (b) the offered prior consistent statement directly rebuts the basis of the attack. This Comment refers to these restrictions as the “rebuttal requirement” of Rule 801(d)(1)(B) and argues for its revocation to make statements substantially consistent with a witness’s in-court testimony admissible, subject to the other rules of evidence, regardless of whether the witness’s …

This Article seeks to identify new ways to respond to critiques of international human rights practice as hierarchy-reproducing, extractive, and imperialist. It proposes one model for how human rights lawyers can better work in solidarity with oppressed communities organizing around common grievances: transnational movement-lawyering. While the framing of community-led lawyering has become rapidly popularized in the human rights field, work remains to ensure that this theoretical and discursive shift translates into a transformation of the day-to-day mechanics of human rights practice. Energy transition has a governance problem. And much of the literature fails to address this problem. That is, it discusses who should make energy transition decisions (the President, Congress, state governments, etc.). But this perspective misses the core substantive problem: how should we share the benefits and burdens of transition? Without answering this energy transition “how” question, any answer to “who” risks appearing as arbitrary decision-making. In this Article, I am the first to submit that we can solve this “how” question using the property-law doctrine of correlative rights. Energy-transition governance is what political economists call “polycentric.” It requires different …

Journal of Interprofessional Practice and Collaboration
The aim of this study was to elucidate whether acquired interprofessional (IP) competencies increased with repeated IP courses. Methods. We used a cross-sectional survey including students from four IP courses at two Norwegian higher educational institutions. One site had a 1-2 weeks on-campus training for their bachelor students at the start of each of the three academic years, whilst the other site arranged a workplace-based course for final year health and social care students from both educational institutions. Students from the first site complete all three on-campus courses and the workplace-based course before completion of their education, while students …
