Heteropoly acid (HPA) and its acidic salts have been widely applied as catalysts for various types of chemical reactions. The substitution process involving proton with larger monovalent alkaline cation (cesium) within the Keggin structure has tremendously affected the microstructure of heteropoly compounds. Generally, higher content of cesium (Cs), posses higher surface area and porosity. Nevertheless, low cesium content of heteropoly compound was selected for better hydrolysis environment in depolymerization of cellulose. This study examined the idea behind the compositions of Malaysian Chinese Shigu drumming performing group Hands Percussion (HANDS) that have incorporated Gamelan, and the Indian Tabla drumming patterns as part of their repertoire. HANDS began with the 24 Seasons Drums, when it was founded in 1997, as a Malaysian Chinese percussion ensemble. This dissertation elucidates how HANDS later forms a multi-ethnic identity in its production that moved away from a single ethnic Chinese performing art group. Economic lot scheduling problem (ELSP) is related to lot-sizing and scheduling several items in a single production facility. This project addresses the ELSP where multiple items have shelf life restrictions and planned backorders. For some products, shelf life might be less than the production cycle time, which leads to product spoilage before the end of the cycle. This thesis presents three different liquid valving methods for the centrifugal microfluidic platform, namely vacuum/compression wax valve, passive liquid valve (PLV), and check valve. The mechanism of the proposed valves is simply based on sequencing the liquid flow by controlling air-flow inside the microfluidic network. Specifically, the wax valve and passive liquid valve utilize a volume of trapped air in the source chamber or the destination chamber to control the burst frequency of the liquid. Aluminum-silicon alloys are notable materials owing to their fine thermal conductivity, low expansion coefficient and good corrosion that can be utilized in the fields of automotive industry such as cylinder blocks, cylinder heads, brake discs, pistons and valve lifters. Modification of melt treatment in Al-Si cast alloys leads to a change in the morphology of eutectic silicon, resulting in mechanical properties enhancement.
