At present academic inquiry is guided by various research paradigms, the most popular ones being those affiliated with metaphysics, phenomenology and positivism, while the literature to date lacks an explicit structural typology identifying and interrelating these formats. As a result, numerous peculiar classification schemes have been created. Learning Topographic Map Use Through Simulation, Russell L. Stubbles

A simulation game designed to facilitate learning to read and to use topographic maps was tested among sample groups of college undergraduates and high school seniors. The board game, "Natural Disaster," permits two to four students to participate in property location decisions, based on their understanding of natural hazards which are to be inferred from the topographic map's contours and locations of particular places. A randomizing procedure assigned the students to one of two treatments, the simulation game or a lecture-discussion, both of which covered the same substantive material. On July 24, 1847, the vanguard of the Mormon migration reached the valley of the Great Salt Lake. By December, 1849, the Mormon population had increased to over 8,000, and was spread over 26 settlements from Ft. Bridger west to near Carson City, and from Ogden south to Manti. Within two and a half years the Mormons had established the foundation of their theo-democratic kingdom in the Great Basin. This presentation will deal with the Mormon's expansion between 1847 and 1851, and the political unit, the "territory" and "state" of Deseret, that was an attempt to claim the Great Basin …

Charity Begins At Home: A Case Study Of Rural Western Pennsylvania During The Great Depression, Jacob A. Battle, Colin J. Wood, Christian E. Mumpower
Bound Away: The Liberty Journal of History
Rural Pennsylvania is often neglected when discussing the world-shaping events of the Great Depression. This study addresses a significant gap in historical research by exploring how a small-town in Pennsylvania, New Bethlehem, survived and even thrived during the Great Depression. New Bethlehem, situated in the fertile Redbank Valley, built its settlement on local resources and rural communalism. During the Depression, the townsfolk banded together through wealthy philanthropy, backyard gardens, and homegrown charity to withstand the crippling implications of the event. By examining church records, newspaper archives, and conducting oral interviews, this article reveals the resilience and resourcefulness of rural Pennsylvanian …

To The Shores Of Tripoli: America’S First Crusade To Cement Her Sovereignty, I. B. Landry

The First Barbary War, also known as the Tripolitan War, is the conflict that set the tone for American sovereignty. The results of this research show that the Tripolitan War was about more than simply America’s right to exercise trade freely in the Mediterranean and North Africa. This was, in a sense, the litmus test for the new nation that would prove to be challenging to its Christian values. It can be concluded that Thomas Jefferson sanctioned the Augustinian campaign to not only benefit America, but all parties wishing to operate in the Mediterranean freely.

This paper thesis examines how the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL has influenced voting behavior within the affected community, specifically regarding candidate and policy preferences related to gun control, mental health support, and school safety. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the study incorporates surveys and interviews to capture voters' opinions and attitudes in the aftermath of the tragic event. Depression represents a significant public health concern that often remains undiagnosed or untreated, primarily due to insufficient systematic screening in primary care settings. The lack of standardized screening tools such as the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) elevates patient risks, increasing symptom severity, increasing suicide rates, and delaying interventions. Research studies show that a significant number of individuals with depression go untreated for long durations, with primary care settings recognizing only a small percentage of cases.
