The innovations of the fourth industrial revolution (industry 4.0) encouraged the application of 3D printing technology to complement and subsequently replace the conventional construction method. This study assessed the awareness, application, drivers and barriers to the adoption of 3D printing technology for construction with a view to enhancing faster and sustainable construction process. Primary data were obtained with the use of structured questionnaires which were self-administered to medium and small-sized construction firms/contractors in Lagos State. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The study established that the awareness and application levels of the technology are still very low. …

In this study, theophylline (1) compounds were synthesized with addition of 2-bromoetha-nol, 2-bromoacetamide and methyl-2-bromoacetate to attain symmetric connections to NHCs (2a–c). New complexes containing the symmetric N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands were synthesized using azolium salts in dimethyl formamide (DMF). After the NHC predecessor compounds reacted with Ag O, Ag(I)-NHC complexes were synthesized in the following: 7,9-di-(2-hydroxyethyl)-8,9-dihydro-1,3-dimethyl-1H-purine-2,6(3H,7H)-dionedium silver(I)bromide (3a), 7,9-di(acetamide)-8,9-dihydro-1,3-dimethyl-1H-purine-2,6(3H,7H)-di-ondium silver(I)bromide (3b) and 7,9-di(methylacetate)-8,9-dihydro-1,3-dimethyl-1H-pu-rine-2,6(3H,7H)-diondiumsilver(I)bromide (3c). In the present study, the influence of the crumb rubber utilization as fine aggregate on the engineering properties of fly ash-based geopolymer mortar was experimentally investigated. In this context, the natural sand used in the production of geopolymer mortars was substituted with the crumb rubber, which comes out in the course of applying the retreading process to the end-of-life tires, at the substitution levels of 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50% by volume of aggregate content. This study contributes to the valorization of typha as local materials of building for thermal insulation. We will examine the influence of the binder content and granulometry on the mechanical and thermal properties of typha - clay panels. The plant of typha is used in different granulometries such as powdered typha and defibrated typha. The results showed that compressive strength, thermal conductivity and effusivity depend on the particle size of the typha and also the binder. Permeable reactive barrier (PRB) containing zero valent iron (ZVI), plaster and additives to make a porous composite structure, was tested to remove an organic nitro compound as model pollutant. An aqueous solution of 4-nitroaniline (PNA) was passed through a porous plaster column and chemical degradation quantified by UV-Vis spectroscopy. PNA was reduced to p-phenylenediamine and the rate of the reduction was strongly related to ZVI amount, pollutant volume, and the contact rate with the metal particles. This study focuses on the physico-chemical characterization of the clayey raw materials of the Thicky quarry. We made a geotechnical, mineralogical, chemical and microscopic study of the laterite and the Thicky clay. Mineralogical analysis by X-ray diffraction (XRD) reveals that our clay consists mainly of quartz (Q), kaolinite (K), illite (I) and calcite (C) while laterite consists of quartz (Q), kaolinite (K), hematite (H) and calcite (C). This study investigated the long-term crack healing of asphalt mixtures treated with healing agents (HAs). Five crack healing agents were applied on fractured surfaces of asphalt mixtures and the long-term healing performance was evaluated based on the restored peak strength and fracture energy. Long term healing of the mixtures was predicted using the Modified Wool and O’Connor model, a modified Avrami model and a long-term healing prediction model proposed in this study. Cardiovascular fitness (VO2max) predicts all-cause mortality and is vital to assess in cancer survivors (CS) for individualized exercise prescriptions. Metabolic carts confirm VO2max with respiratory exchange ratio (RER) >1.10; other VO2max criteria include ≤10 beats/minute of maximal predicted heart rate and/or a rating of perceived exertion (RPE) of >8 on the Modified Borg Scale. The usability of two environmentally important waste materials in cementitous fine grout production was investigated as partial replacement materials for cement and aggregate. The influence of replacement materials on flowability and strength of was investigated by rheological and compressive strength tests. The strength of 28 and 90 days grouts was determined. It was found that the flowability and strength of the mixes were heavily dependent on W/C ratio and affected by type and amount of replacement materials. This paper deals with the physical characterization and the optimization of fineness moduli of some natural sand samples for their appropriate valorization in construction in North Cameroon. Five sands samples (SN5, SB1, SB2, SB3 and SB4) were selected from various locations. Tests conducted include Particle size analysis, Organic impurities, Sand Equivalent and Bulk density. Fineness Modulus (FM), Mean grain, Sorting index (Si), Skewedness index and Uniformity coefficient have been deducted mathematically. This paper presents results of a numerical modeling of ductile fracture and failure of elements made of 5182H111 aluminum alloys subjected to dynamic traction. The analysis was performed using Johnson-Cook model based on ABAQUS software. The aim of the research was to specify and test the mechanical properties during numerical simulations. The experimental test results for the mechanical properties of the studies for steel were presented with a large description of the testing facilities. The test results were used to determine the temperature dependencies of the mechanical properties, yield strength, modulus of elasticity and thermal elongation
