Background: Globally, 16% of the population is affected by disabilities, with increasing prevalence due to non-communicable diseases and longer lifespans. This group often faces shorter lifespans, poorer health, and greater challenges than non-disabled peers. Rehabilitation services are essential for improving independence, health, and quality of life by facilitating participation in education, work, and social roles. However, in South Africa, particularly in rural areas, providing these services is difficult. Patient Similarity Analysis can be used to develop personalised aids for patients and clinicians making complex healthcare decisions, including those encountered in the oncology domain. However, little is known about patients’ views on how insights derived through Patient Similarity Analysis may be incorporated into decision making at the point of care. Objectives. Replacing the disease-centered, paternalistic approach in healthcare with a person-centered model has become a widely recognized imperative. However, patients' perspectives on and experiences with real-life efforts to implement this approach to care are rarely studied. We examined this issue at a health system with a prominent record of commitment to implementing person-centered care on the system level – the U.S. Veterans Health Administration (VHA). For over a decade, VHA has been transforming itself into a Whole Health (WH) system of care that is person-centered, holistic, and empowering. Methods. Objectives: This study was conducted to explore patients' expectations and perceptions of private healthcare facilities, understand the key factors influencing their choice of such facilities, also identify elements that enhance patient satisfaction and loyalty, enabling the development of actionable recommendations to improve patient-centered care in private healthcare settings. Millions of uninsured Americans access health care through free clinics, but their experience with the medical system is understudied. This study sought to understand patterns in free clinic patients' experience with healthcare utilization through qualitative and descriptive analyses. Data were collected through face-to-face, open-ended interviews at two free clinics in an urban Florida community. The clinics included one student-run free clinic and one community-based free clinic. Survey questions were developed based on prior literature and validated through expert consensus and pilot interviews. The interviewers conducted 74 interviews between May 7 and June 10, 2022. This article will focus on Sundanese literacy as observed in the Islamic transregional networks established between the Middle East and West Java in the early twentieth century. Sundanese kitāb printed in Egypt by three Sundanese ulama reflect an increasingly intensive use of the Sundanese language in Islamic teaching in West Java compared to the earlier predominant use of Javanese. There is also a shift on the part of Sundanese ulama from manuscript to print culture. Various theories regarding the origins of the Baduy people have been discussed by scholars. A recent contribution by Robert Wessing and Bart Barendregt (2005) approaches the problem from the broader context of the structure of kingdoms in Java and Pajajaran. The present paper assesses their theory in the light of documentary sources from the fourteenth to the sixteenth century, not only in the Sundanese language but also in Old Javanese. These sources indicate that the religious aspects of Baduy society reflect practices and ideas that seem to have been widespread in early Java and Bali. My approach is to investigate …

In this nonpayment proceeding involving a tenant in a Section 8 Mitchell-Lama unit, the court dismissed the case for failure to serve mandatory VAWA notices, a required condition precedent under federal law. While the landlord claimed the notices were served, discrepancies between court filings and claimed service documents undermined that assertion. The judge emphasized that only the process server "not the landlord's agent" could attest to service, and the rent demand's affidavit of service lacked any VAWA mention. As such, the court found petitioner's compliance unsubstantiated and dismissed the proceeding without prejudice. Practice Note: VAWA notice compliance is jurisdictional and …

The idea that employees of large corporations should be entitled to representation on corporate boards, a concept known as codetermination, is gaining ground. Progressive politicians Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders have proposed codetermination regimes that would allow employees to elect between 40% and 45% of board members. Moreover, an increasing number of corporate law scholars are embracing the idea of giving employees a voice in corporate governance.

However, anyone endorsing codetermination must confront a critical dilemma: whether to limit representation to U.S.-based employees or whether to extend it to overseas workers as well. The question’s practical importance is obvious given …

When it comes to claims for unmatured interest—most notoriously make-whole provisions—the text of the Bankruptcy Code does not necessarily say what everyone says it does. The common interpretation is that the Code requires courts to disallow all claims for unmatured interest except those involving an oversecured creditor. This Note presents an alternative reading that resolves conflicts within the Code, moves away from unreliable legislative history, and reconciles circuit splits on the enforceability of make-whole provisions and unmatured interest claims in general. As discussed in this Note, this alternative reading is the more accurate one—especially from a textualist perspective.

Congress intended the Anti-Terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996 (AEDPA) to codify the Burger and Rehnquist Courts’ habeas corpus jurisprudence, which aimed to establish finality and innocence as gatekeepers to the “Great Writ.” But in practice, AEDPA hinders innocence claims, particularly claims of legal innocence.

This Note agrees that innocence should be one of the most important considerations in granting writs but argues that it is not as valued as Congress intended. In an effort to improve education, the Tennessee state legislature in early 2025 passed a bill to expand the state’s current targeted program to a universal Education Savings Account program in which state funding is set to be reallocated to private institutions for any Tennessee student who applies and is accepted. A list of the participating private institutions can be found on the state’s Department of Education website. Abstract Drawing on Critical Social Theory (CST) (Habermas, 1984; Kincheloe & McLaren, 2011) and Culturally Responsive Evaluation (CRE) (Hood, Hopson, & Kirkhart, 2015), this qualitative study evaluates the effectiveness of a Mindfulness-Based Intervention (MBI) with Black undergraduate students. The purpose of the study was to examine and understand how students perceived and engaged with mindfulness practices, particularly concerning stress management, coping strategies, and cultural relevance. Additionally, the study sought to evaluate whether the intervention meaningfully addressed the unique challenges faced by Black students in higher education. This review examines AI-powered platforms like Microsoft HoloLens, Apple Vision Pro, and HTC Vive Pro, which enhance anatomical visualization, surgical simulation, and clinical decision-making. These technologies improve the spatial understanding of musculoskeletal structures, refine procedural skills with haptic feedback, and personalize learning through AI-driven adaptive algorithms. The method from which we approach Constitutional interpretation would obviously hold a great deal of significance in our government structure, yet the modern judiciary is plagued by a constant debate between Living Constitutionalism and Originalism. The latter of these ideas has become rather prominent amongst the justices, with six of the nine current Supreme Court justices being self-proclaimed practitioners of originalism. The financial crisis of the early 2000’s is a prime example of the severe consequences that mortgage default and borrower insolvency can have on economies at large. Mortgage default specifically is a prime case with the popularization of mortgage backed securities and the commonality of this loan structure. Multiple hypotheses and models have been formed to understand the reasons, causes, and consequences of mortgage default.
