Several nations across the globe have adopted the enforcement-based approach to address rough sleeping, which exacerbates the challenges faced by rough sleepers. This paper critically examines the ‘criminalisation’ of rough sleeping in England and Wales, arguing that the criminal law responses–including the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime, and Policing Act 2014 and the previously proposed measures in the Criminal Justice Bill 2024–in England and Wales are inappropriate to address the complex reasoning underpinning homelessness and rough sleeping. Despite several social investment programmes (SIPs) to reduce poverty, Nigeria had a high poverty rate, particularly in remote rural areas. The SIPs included conditional cash transfers (CCTs) to eligible households under certain conditions, such as extreme poverty in remote rural areas without access to water, electricity, shelter, basic health care, and education. This qualitative case study examined the role of behavioral health leadership (BHL) in facilitating effective family reunification within residential treatment settings, focusing on Organization X in Northern California. The study addressed the persistent issue of high recidivism rates among youth with intellectual and co-occurring mental health disorders following discharge from therapeutic foster care. This Essay explores how discourse surrounding Supreme Court nominations reflects broader societal debates about merit, representation, and inclusion. Through analysis of the controversy surrounding President Biden’s commitment to nominate a Black woman to the Supreme Court, this piece examines three interconnected themes: the embodied nature of representation, the relationship between diversity and judicial legitimacy, and the problematic nature of “best candidate” narratives. It challenges traditional conceptions of merit in judicial nominations and argues for a more nuanced understanding that recognizes the value of diverse lived experiences on the bench.

International Journal for the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning

Interdisciplinary teaching is vital for equipping students to address complex public health challenges. This study explores teachers' reflections on interdisciplinary teaching in Singapore’s undergraduate public health programmes, examining facilitators and barriers to its implementation. Using surveys and in-depth interviews, we gathered diverse insights from teachers. Quantitative results revealed a significant positive association between interdisciplinary teaching frequency, and willingness for further integration, and non-significant associations for perceptions on knowledge and importance of integration. Notably, participants' satisfaction with the current state of interdisciplinary learning in the public health curriculum or during internship supervision was low, although this finding was not significant. The objective of this study was to determine the genetic correlations between enteric methane emissions and economically important traits included in the current Terminal Index used to breed animals for meat in Ireland. This paper reviews the current state of high-resolution remotely sensed soil moisture (SM) and evapotranspiration (ET) products and modeling, and the coupling relationship between SM and ET. SM downscaling approaches for satellite passive microwave products leverage advances in artificial intelligence and high-resolution remote sensing using visible, near-infrared, thermal-infrared, and synthetic aperture radar sensors. Remotely sensed ET continues to advance in spatiotemporal resolutions from MODIS to ECOSTRESS to Hydrosat and beyond. The purpose of this case series was to examine the effects that flywheel training had on a person’s dynamic strength index in comparison to concurrent training (DSI). It has been shown that with strength training alone there can be an overall decrease in the DSI, due to an increase the IMTP peak force and no significant change in the CMJ performance (Comfort et al., 2018). This project argues that settler-colonialism is not merely a historical phenomenon but a pervasive socio-political and cultural structure shaping the contemporary world. The pH of the world’s oceans has decreased since the Industrial Revolution due to the oceanic uptake of increased atmospheric CO2 in a process called ocean acidification. Low pH has been linked to negative impacts on the calcification, growth, and survival of calcifying invertebrates. Along the Western Antarctic Peninsula, dominant brown macroalgae often shelter large numbers of diverse invertebrate mesograzers, many of which are calcified. Mesograzer assemblages in this region are often composed of large numbers of amphipods which have key roles in Antarctic macroalgal communities. 8-oxoguanine (8-oxoGua) is one of the most frequent forms of oxidative DNA base lesions, repaired by 8-oxoguanine DNA glycosylase 1 (OGG1) via base excision repair (BER) pathway to maintain genome fidelity. The human allelic variant hOGG1^S326C, prevalent in Caucasians and Asians, has been regarded as a susceptibility factor for various diseases, yet its pathogenic mechanism remains elusive. In this study, we demonstrate that Ogg1^S326C/S326C mice exhibit increased and sustained airway inflammation compared with wild-type (WT) Ogg1^S326/S326 mice. KRAS, a historically "undruggable" oncogenic driver, has eluded targeted therapies due to its lack of accessible binding pockets in its active state. This study investigates the conformational dynamics, binding mechanisms, and allosteric communication networks of KRAS in complexes with monobodies (12D1, 12D5) and affimer proteins (K6, K3, K69) to characterize the binding and allosteric mechanisms and hotspots of KRAS binding. Through molecular dynamics simulations, mutational scanning, binding free energy analysis and network-based analyses, we identified conserved allosteric hotspots that serve as critical nodes for long-range communication in KRAS.
