We are used to seeing emotions in Tolkien as coded morally. Lust or possessiveness is evil whereas care and forbearance are good. There are some emotions, though, that cross these moral boundaries and one of these is anger Moreover, anger in Tolkien is very coded in terms of gender, as it is nearly always male rage. A new species Parabuthus puntlandus sp. n. from Somalia (Puntland) is described. Combination of five characters; metasoma V black; pectine teeth number 39–42 in both sexes; pedipalp chela length/width ratio 3.05–4.26 in both sexes; metasoma and telson sparsely hirsute; smooth inner side of the base of fingers of pedipalp chela (tubercle absent) distinguish P. puntlandus sp. n. from all other species in the region. In addition to the analyses of external morphology, we have provided descriptions of the karyotype of P. puntlandus sp. n. (2n=16). Included is also a map of distribution of Parabuthus species in Horn of Africa.

This research focuses on the effects of energy policy in the United States. Because of the impacts of energy production and transmissions emissions, energy policy has become synonymous with climate policy. As such, there seems to be two schools of thought regarding energy policy. On the one hand, “green” energy policies have been endorsed for their potential to reduce carbon emissions and dependence on non-renewable resources. On the other, continuing to use legacy energy sources, namely fossil fuels, has been endorsed for its affordability and ease of use through existing infrastructure. On The Invariant Integration Of A Vector In Some Problems In Mechanics, Saad Bin Mansoor

Invariant integration of vectors and tensors over manifolds was introduced around fifty years ago by V.N. Folomeshkin, though the concept appears to not have attracted much attention among researchers. Although it is a sophisticated concept, the operation of the invariant integration of vectors is actually required to correctly solve some problems in mechanics. Two such problems are discussed in the present exposition, in the context of a two-dimensional Euclidean space covered by a polar coordinate system. The notion of invariant integration becomes necessary when the space is described without any reference to a Cartesian coordinate system.

The null tangent bundle of an indefinite pseudo-Riemannian manifold is a lightlike hypersurface of the tangent bundle which inherits a CR-structure from the almost Hermitian structure defined by Oproiu on the tangent bundle. We investigate the properties of this structure in relation to the choice of the screen distribution and the geometry of the base manifold.

Conformally flat harmonic nearly trans-Sasakian manifolds are studied. In the space of adjoint G-structure, components of the Weyl tensor of the conformal curvature are calculated, identities for this tensor are found, and also some conformal invariants of harmonic nearly trans-Sasakian manifold are provided. An exhaustive description of the class W1 of such manifolds is obtained. It is proved that this class is locally equivalent to the product of a complex Euclidean space and a real line. Complete local characteristic of harmonic nearly trans-Sasakian manifolds of the class W6, which are Einstein manifolds, is obtained. Full classification of conformally flat harmonic …

Background: Same-day surgical cancellations are a persistent and costly issue within outpatient surgery centers, accounting for approximately 5% of elective cases. These disruptions result in inefficient utilization of operating room (OR) time, increased staffing burdens, lost reimbursement, and diminished patient satisfaction. Unanticipated cancellations undermine scheduling reliability and workflow efficiency, contributing to care fragmentation and increased financial strain on health systems. A growing body of evidence suggests that nurse-led, structured preoperative screening has the potential to mitigate these challenges by identifying risk factors in advance and facilitating timely interventions. IEEE 802.11 Beacon frames exist at the forefront of modern Wi-Fi networks and facilitate a wide array of essential network functionality, from discovery to time synchronization and even transmit power control. However, the central role Beacon frames play in initial network advertisement comes at the price of incomplete security guarantees, leaving these frames historically vulnerable to forgery and granting significant leverage over proximal wireless devices to a malicious actor that can effectively spoof them. Recidivism among formerly incarcerated women is a challenging issue for one state prison system. Effective and fully enrolled programs to support recently released women are essential to stopping recidivism, as women often face problems such as trauma, abuse, or mental health disorders, all of which may require special care. The Performance Diagnostic Checklist – Human Services (PDC-HS) is an assessment tool used to identify factors influencing employee performance in human service settings. Although prior research supports its effectiveness in identifying performance barriers, little is known about the accuracy of the intervention selection process. This study examined the accuracy with which participants scored the PDC-HS and selected appropriate interventions. In Study 1, 23 participants watched video vignettes of mock PDC-HS interviews, completed the assessment, and identified indicated domains and interventions. Scoring accuracy was consistent with prior research, but intervention selection accuracy was highly variable, with most errors occurring in the …

In each of these operations the United Nations created more instability or left the country in the same or worse state than it was when it came in. Extant literature on police officer misconduct has shown that it was possible to identify problem officers in a proactive manner. Yet serious misconduct incidents continued to occur that strain the relationship between the public and police, including the government serving both entities. The New York Police Department was the largest city police force in the United States, with approximately 33,475 full-time sworn officers, and in 2023, New York City (NYC) paid $298 million in settlements related to claims against police officers. Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are synthetic chemicals that raise significant toxicological concerns due to their environmental persistence and potential health hazards. This research examines the presence and concentration of selected PFAS compounds in human hair samples from volunteers in New York, comparing these results with global trends found in peer-reviewed research. Hair was selected as the biological matrix for its non-invasive collection method, ability to reflect exposure, and long-term chemical stability. Molecular chaperones play a central role in maintaining protein homeostasis. The highly conserved Hsp70 family of chaperones have major functions in folding of nascent peptides, protein refolding, and protein aggregate disassembly. In yeast, loss of two Hsp70 proteins, Ssa1 and Ssa2, is associated with decreased cellular growth and shortened lifespan. While heterologous or mutant temperature-sensitive proteins form anomalous large cytoplasmic inclusions in ssa1Δssa2Δ strains, it is unclear how endogenous wild-type proteins behave and are regulated in the presence of limiting Hsp70s. This study explores the relationships between tenure as Multilingual Learners (MLs), English proficiency, academic performance, and promotion among middle and high school students. This study is grounded in Bourdieu’s (1967, 2018) theory, which emphasizes that schools perpetuate cultural norms by limiting ML’s language access and post-secondary success. Also informed by Krashen’s (1982, 1985, 2003) theory of Input Hypothesis, this study investigates how meaningful interaction is key for language learning. Influenza-associated pulmonary aspergillosis (IAPA) is a potentially deadly superinfection in patients with influenza pneumonia, especially those with severe disease, underlying immunosuppression, corticosteroid therapy, or requiring intensive care support. Given the high mortality of IAPA, adjunct immunomodulatory strategies remain a critical unmet need. Previously, the desensitization of pattern recognition pathways has been described as a hallmark of IAPA pathogenesis and a predictor of mortality in IAPA patients. Malignant tumors represent a significant threat to human health. Among the various therapeutic strategies available, cancer immunotherapy-encompassing adoptive cell transfer (ACT) and immune checkpoint blockade therapy-has emerged as a particularly promising approach following surgical resection, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and molecular targeted therapies. This form of treatment elicits substantial antigen-specific immune responses, enhances or restores anti-tumor immunity, thereby facilitating the control and destruction of tumor cells, and yielding durable responses across a range of cancers, which can lead to the eradication of tumor lesions and the prevention of recurrence. 3',5'-cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) is a fundamental secondary messenger capable of rapidly amplifying and propagating cellular signals in response to various extracellular stimuli. cAMP plays a significant role in hormone-mediated regulation of renal fluid and electrolyte balance. Impaired signaling of cAMP has been linked to a variety of pathological ramifications in the kidneys.
